  1. It would not at all shock me to see some cut back on haunt hours next year. It seems like the majority of these stories contain the phrase "just after the event ended" or something similar. Maybe having thousands of teens and young adults all hopped up on adrenaline running around a parking lot at 1am isn't the best idea in the world.
  2. Descrimination concerns put tax incentives on hold: http://www.courier-journal.com/story/news/politics/2014/10/07/ark-park-hiring-issue-jeopardizes-tax-incentives/16854657/
  3. Looks like a wonderful transformation! I have never been on a floorless before so I am looking forward to trying this out next year!
  4. Because the majority of people don't look at parks as businesses. They see them as entities that exist to bring them enjoyment and a break from the 'real world'.
  5. What is the definition of a classic in 2014? Consumer trends are so dramatically different then they were even 15-20 years ago. People are so engrossed with immediate satisfaction that parks are more or less painted into a corner when dealing with rides based on IPs. Option 1: Open a ride to coincide with the release of a movie. This eliminates any ride on the scale of Harry Potter or even Toy Story Mania because no one is going to green light a 8 figure ride expenditure with no idea how the movie will be received. Option 2: Do a quick re-theme/show/meet and greet when a movie is deemed a hit. This honestly is probably the best financial choice for the park but also the one that riles up the hardcore fans the most. The park can say "Hey we have a Frozen ride!" and "Come meet Olaf!", which is plenty for some people who just another fix. However, it starts to look like a money grab (which it is) and traditionalists light up the interwebs with their complaints. Option 3: Wait 5/10/15 years to see if a property has staying power. This is the option that allows for the Harry Potter and the Toy Story Mania's to be built. The multimillion dollar E-Ticket attractions that everyone talks about. The issue, especially in today's world, is that these types of IPs are so few and far between. Consumer interest in a product is often very short lived. A number of trip reports on various sites have mentioned how surprisingly low the crowds in the new Gringotts area at Universal has been following the opening couple of weeks. It is a gamble that is difficult to know when to take. (This written on mobile so I apologize for any spelling or grammatical errors I missed.)
  6. I thought they had stated that it was being sold for scrap with a few pieces headed to the Roller Coaster Museum? Did something change?
  7. ^Exactly, it will be a coaster with two lift hills that just happen to be next to each other.
  8. I would bet after media day the chances to "high five" will be few and far between.
  9. ^ You know very well that restrooms are not allowed in X-Base!
  10. I am also surprised that SFOG and SFADv would be getting the flats but more flats is never a bad thing IMO.
  11. So if every rumor is true, this is what we are looking at. SFNE - RMC redo of Cyclone (apparently named "Wicked Cyclone" based on the cached web addresses that seem to be up for the park) SFGE - Nothing known at this time SFA - Super Loop SFGAd - Super Loop SFOG - Super Loop SFSTL - Redo of Scooby dark ride with a Justice League theme SFFT - S&S Free Spin Coaster apparently called "Batman: The Ride" SFOT - Justice League dark ride SFGAm - Nothing known at this time SFLR - Nothing known at this time SFDK - Super Loop SFM - Nothing known at this time SFMM - RMC redo of Colossus
  12. Awesome report! I honestly had no idea this place even existed.
  13. Has anyone else had problems renewing their passes online? I have attempted to renew my wife and I's passes a couple times and it says that it can not find our passes or they have already been renewed after I enter the pass numbers. We have used them at KI, CP, and MA this year so I know they are 'in the system' so to speak.
  14. As an unapologetic B&M fanboy, I have to say, this looks incredible. The entrance plaza equally so as well! I have to wonder if we may be seeing a new front gate at KI in the next few years.
  15. While it clearly states Sundays, I pity the people working admissions/guest relations as people come for Haunt and try to redeem their Fast Lane vouchers on Fridays and Saturdays.
  16. ^Not to mention that CF isn't exactly in the financial shape to be buying three new parks.
  17. But would those Orcas (specifically the captive bred ones) stand a chance in the wild? Have there been captive bred Orcas successfully released into the wild before? Is the sea pen option a viable one? Perhaps. It seems that San Diego is the only place this could happen if it were to still remain an attraction that is open to the public (unless it was built as separate stand alone attraction). How would Orlando fair in a market with an exploding Universal property and the Disney juggernaut without the Orca draw? (Correct me if I'm wrong but San Antonio does not have an Orcas currently do they?) Edit: It appears that San Antonio does indeed have Orcas.
  18. If the expansion/addition of the Orca habitat looks anywhere near the concept art I think it will be a huge success for Sea World.
  19. Nice to see one of Celebration City's rides find a new home. Poor Ozark Wildcat.
  20. I actually think this looks kind of interesting. Given your (apt) description of the ride I thought the overall reception would be worse than it is. Most on other forums see pretty excited. I'm not one for spinners but I did catch myself smiling watching the ride animation.
