  1. My girlfriend and I will be there for ERT and to grab a few rides after the park opens. Neither of us are big fans of crowds so how busy it gets usually dictates how long we stay opening day.
  2. Drop Tower is the only ride I find myself a little edgy when getting on. I'm willing to bet WindSeeker will bring out that same feeling though. The only time I was ever truely scared waiting for a ride was opening year of FoF. I was 11 and had a mortal fear of roller coasters at the time.
  3. ^Agreed. It seems more like a fairly cheap (as far as installation cost goes) way for the park to make a little more money off of those who are already there as opposed to something that will really draw large amounts of new visitors.. If that money is then reinvested into all these refurbishment projects they have been touting then that's fine with me.
  4. Haha I know, just goofing around a bit. If that is the sort of ratio they expect then anyone who wants to check it out better do so the first few weekends.
  5. From the website (particularly the season pass page) it looks like this area will be an upcharge attraction. Regular season passes are on sale for $59.95 and the Adventure Pass - which includes the new Adventure Point Attractions is $99.95.
  6. ^Its all about customer service Dave! You can give much better service if you only have 5 customers a day! ;-)
  7. I think Vortex just happens to be the coaster next to this year's new toy. I don't think it has anything to do with making Vortex a more 'legitiment' coaster, whatever that would entail, nor do I believe (hope?) it is the beginning of a goodbye tour. Vortex is considered a 'major' ride by the GP and it just happens to be next door.
  8. Let's see... The Beast - Lagoon Invertigo - Dollywood Flight Deck - Galaxyland Vortex - Six Flags Over Georgia Firehawk - Holiday World Adventure Express - King's Dominion Flying Ace Aerial Chase - Busch Gardens Williamsburg Backlot - California's Great America Racer - Michigan's Adventure Great Pumpkin Coaster - Canada's Wonderland Flight of Fear - Sea World San Antonio Diamondback - Silverwood Woodstock Express - Six Flags Discovery Kingdom
  9. While it may be a a large part of Magic Mountain's marketing campaign this year, it really isn't that big of an addition as coasters go. The cost for similar models according to rcdb.com is less than $10 million dollars. Same goes for SFOG's new 'Dare Devil Dive Coaster'. The only other coasters going into Six Flags U.S. parks are rides being relocated from Kentucky Kingdom. Not exactly intimidating...
  10. Cedar Points situation is very different from KI's. Cedar Point uses ERT as an incentive to get people to stay at their resorts. There is a financial incentive for Cedar Point to make their ERT as attractive as possible. Thus it includes rides like Maverick and Millennium Force. At KI the park (and thus the company) has far less to gain from offering ERT from a financial standpoint.
  11. As part of an assignment for school I ended up randomly redistributing all the roller coasters from most of the operating North American amusement parks. Each park received the same number of coasters it currently has (SBNO caosters were not counted) and no park could have two of the same type of coaster from the same company (i.e. a park could have a Vekoma SLC and a B&M invert but not two B&M inverts). Here is what KI and CP ended up with. If you want to know others just post the park you would like to see and I'll put it up. KI: - Coaster - Former Park 1. Journey to Atlantis - (Sea World Orlando) 2. Road Runner Express (Six Flags Fiesta Texas) 3. Gwazi (Busch Gardens Tampa) 4. Stormrunner (Hershey Park) 5. Mindbender - (Galaxyland) 6. Tornado (Stricker's Grove) 7. Gotham City Guantlet (Six Flags New England) 8. Legend (Arnold's Park) 9. Sea Serpent (Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk) 10. Mamba (Worlds of Fun) 11. Ravine Flyer II (Waldameer) 12. Corkscrew (Cedar Point) 13. Afterburn (Carowinds) As much as I love Diamondback, Beast, and Flight Deck, I dare said I would trade what we have now for this lineup. Cedar Point: 1. Hydra The Revenge (Dorney Park) 2. Georgia Cyclone (Six Flags Over Georgia) 3. Phantom's Revenge (Kennywood) 4. Outlaw (Adventureland) 5. Desert Storm (Coasters n' Castles) 6. Psycho Mouse (California's Great America) 7. Bobsleds (Seabreeze) 8. Boomerang (Worlds of Fun) 9. Thunderbolt (Six Flags New England) 10. Roar (Six Flags Discovery Kingdom) 11. Fiesta Express (Wild Adventures) 12. Expedition Everest (Animal Kingdom) 13. Blue Streak (Cedar Point) 14. Dragon (La Ronde) 15. Cedar Creek Mine Ride (Cedar Point) 16. Teddy Bear (Stricker's Grove) 17. Comet (Waldameer)
  12. ^Not really. Families and corporate groups are a big part of KI's revenue.
  13. I really do hope when new management comes in, whenever that ends up being, CF really makes an effort to upgrade a lot of stuff from a technology standpoint.
  14. It has changed a lot since then, and not all in a good way. Cornball and Steel Hawg are both excellent rides, imo, but the park has lost a lot of the charm I remember it having as a kid. I know that management said that their goal was to tidy up things a bit for this season. Hopefully they do because on my one visit last year it was starting to feel a little run down. Perhaps we will have to get a group of KICers together for a trip?
  15. Can't wait to get a few more laps on Cornball this year!
  16. Two questions: 1) What exactly is an impairment charge? 2) Is that the first time that the company has publicly stated that they are trying to sell CGA?
  17. I can't tell if it actually says that or if I just want it to say that lol.
  18. Has BLSC been open for past math and science days or has it always been closed?
  19. ^I certainly hope you are right!
  20. I don't know if I would call it my favorite dark ride but I was very pleasantly surprised by E.T. at Universal Orlando in January.
  21. My very first coaster. I came off of my first ride "white as a sheet" (my mom's words). I was so terrified of coasters after that ride that it was 7 years before I got on one again. My how things have changed.
  22. The parks new slide will be moved to a different location in the park after workers complain of paranormal activity. Article can be found here.
