  1. Action Theater is not labelled as an attraction on the 2014 map, as it was in previous seasons, so I wouldn't expect any film this year. I think the Dinosaurs Alive pricing is a big improvement. It's a much better deal for families & passholders, which will hopefully lead to more utilization.
  2. Kings Island has requested that we not post unofficial pictures or video of Banshee testing. Wait until the park opens - there are apparently some spectacular views. You are, of course, free to take pictures if you are at Great Wolf Lodge or another area you are authorized to be in. Just don't post them here. (Posting them here includes telling people to visit another site to find your pictures.) EDIT: What Don said 1 minute later.
  3. ^ 30-minute ERT including Banshee will be offered for gold & platinum passholders, according to the Opening Day event page on visitkingsisland.com. Other rides that will be included have yet to be announced.
  4. The park map page on visitkingsisland.com has been updated with the 2014 map, including a high-resolution PDF version: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/plan-a-visit/park-map
  5. ^ Print the e-mail order confirmation from Accesso, if you purchased/renewed online.
  6. ^ On the other hand, a clone of a successful design is very likely to operate reliably and on time. A prototype can involve more risk.
  7. ^ Do not post pictures of Banshee testing, even if from off park property. Kings Island has specifically requested this.
  8. ^ Facebook Inc. indeed made a policy change that would have given them the right to use your posted content for any commercial purpose. This would have allowed them to use your likeness to promote products, throughout the universe in perpetuity. They were forced to backtrack somewhat after intense user outrage. By the way, "Facebook" is a registered trademark of the aforementioned company, so you should capitalize it. Some of us choose which websites we decide to associate with.
  9. The administrators of this website have asked us all to respect what the park asks of us, specifically by not posting things that we have been asked not to post. As for Media Day, those attending need to pay extra close attention that they don't post material they've been asked not to. The purpose of that event is for Kings Island to market its new attraction to the world via the media. Enthusiast attendees are expected to be respectful of this.
  10. ^ As a reminder, Kings Island asked that images of the 2014 park map not be embedded in the forum at this time.
  11. Again, Kings Island requested that this forum link to the official source of the 2014 map, after it becomes available.
  12. There's a huge demand for Fast Lane, and it's a major revenue source for the park. It will certainly be available for Banshee, most likely as Fast Lane Plus. Pricing, tier(s), and ride line-ups have yet to be announced for Fast Lane at Kings Island in 2014.

  14. Many of your posts are long and difficult to understand. This is annoying to many people, especially when you deliberately make your posts "cryptic". Sometimes, it actually seems that you use a dictionary to write your posts. That's fine, but you confuse people when you use terminology incorrectly. If you choose to use a word with a very specific meaning, it's important to make sure it's really the right word. We would really appreciate if you wrote in a way that we could all understand. You make a lot of good posts, but you lose effectiveness when most of your audience doesn't grasp what you're saying. Necessary?
  15. The request was to not share personal photos here. Rent a plane, book a room at GWL, and/or use a telephoto lens for your personal collection - they just don't want unofficial pictures of Banshee testing here. Additionally, those attending Media Day should be extra receptive to requests from the park. They're inviting you to a media event to ride before everyone else - so do what you can to be a help, not an annoyance. This applies before and during the Media Day event. No one is entitled to attend Media Day. The park has invited media, as well as select groups of enthusiasts. If someone can't abide by a simple request not to post an image, it stands to reason that the park wouldn't want this individual representing the park on Media Day.
  16. According to Ryan on the last page, the park asked that unofficial pictures of Banshee testing not be shared here, even if taken from an area that you are authorized to be in. This site has a long-standing partnership with the park, and the park has made this simple request regarding photos. Presumably, the park wishes that the official photos/video being prepared are what get published - not some unofficial photo taken by a KICentral member from Great Wolf Lodge. Additionally, some photos taken from authorized areas could encourage others to venture into unauthorized areas. You might know the boundaries, but not everyone who reads this site does. You're free to take pictures from areas that you are authorized to be in, but please heed park requests as to what gets shared on this site.
  17. To repeat a general public service announcement: All park property is currently closed to the public, including the passenger drop-off area. Being there to take pictures, to see Banshee test, or for any other reason is strictly prohibited. If you are authorized to be there (eg. as an employee), you are not authorized to share pictures taken from any off-limits area. Right now, the entire park is an off-limits area.
  18. That inversion is a batwing - not a pretzel knot or a "batzel" - according to the ride's designer & manufacturer. Nitpicking, perhaps, but the park has asked that we not deliberately use the wrong terminology.
  19. BB1: A pun is a specific type of a play on words in which one word can be read with at least two distinct meanings. You have used the word "pun" to refer to things you've said that don't actually contain a pun. When you use the terminology that isn't correct, you confuse people. An example of a pun here was Don Helbig posting to Twitter before the Banshee announcement about whether he should prepare a speech or wing it. (The word "wing" having two meanings: as part of the phrase "to wing it", and as a model of roller coaster from B&M.)
  20. ^ The server that image is on blocks third party referers. To see the image, right click the missing image (alt text inigo-montoya_that-word.jpg) and copy the image URL/location/address. Then, paste the address directly into the location bar.
  21. ^ A car analogy where Son of Beast is a Cadillac... never saw that coming.
  22. New this season, Cedar Fair parks are hosting "Run & Ride" weekends, combining fitness with thrill rides. Each park has a variety of options, from a recreational walk/run to a timed half marathon race. It looks like a lot of fun; I'm considering doing Kings Island's 10k race or Cedar Point's 5k race. Participants are not covered in colored powder, unlike at another event, which is a strong selling point for me. Kings Island's event will take place during Haunt, from September 26-28. 23. Dan would presumably still be leading Holiday World, albeit with 40% ownership, had he not (per the Indiana Court of Appeals) acted in bad faith to enforce a buy/sell agreement. Lori Koch hired him to lead Holiday World after Will Koch's untimely death. She fired him after a trial court ruled in her favor, leaving majority control with her. He seemed quite passionate about the amusement industry, so it's good to see him active in it again.
  24. The selected font is Comic Sans, which isn't easy to read in any medium. More info: http://www.comicsanscriminal.com/
  25. ^ It's probably either a Chromium bug or a CKEditor bug specific to Chrome. You could try to track it down and file it. Or you could use Firefox to post, since it apparently works. Adobe Flash in Firefox on Linux generally isn't a positive experience, though, thanks mainly to Adobe. Netflix (Silverlight) works great, though, thanks to the Pipelight project.
