  1. Good observation. I hadn't thought about the possibility that they could download from the brakes as well as the station.
  2. I don't know about wind patterns. I'm just saying that it would fit there. Plus it's right across the midway from the Eagles' old home.
  3. You know what that just made me think of? SR&R's location would be a nice spot for our Flying Eagles.
  4. That's what I'm thinking. This deconstruction looks like what I would expect at the end of the season. My (completely uninformed) guess is that a part that is replaced every offseason and is otherwise inaccessible broke, and they have to completely tear it down to get at that part. Perhaps something in the ground under the center support?
  5. Gwazi Lion was decent for me, though I rode front seat, which probably nullified most of the roughness. Tiger was closed that day. That said, Gwazi is the only wooden coaster on which I have ever seen a sign at the entrance warning riders that it may be much rougher than the other steel coasters in the park. I wonder what that says about Gwazi, and the park in general.
  6. There's definitely some maneuvering involved in getting to the peninsula once you reach Sandusky. None of the major avenues of approach to Sandusky drop you off right at the causeway; you have to navigate through city streets to get there. Sometimes I wonder how Cedar Point became as popular and successful as it is, considering the lack of easy accessibility from major thoroughfares. KI has it easy with being right on I-71.
  7. No, no, I was joking. It's just that the subject of how to get to Cedar Point has a wide variety of opinions on here due to the lack of an obvious ideal route. It has been discussed on here before, several times, and usually each person has their preferred route and won't budge from it. So discussions about it usually lead to a lot of friendly arguing with no changed minds. But that's no reason we can't have another one, especially since we've gotten a lot of new members since the last go-around. And for the record, straight does not bother me. There's enough towns along 4 to break up the monotony.
  8. Are we really going to start this debate again? jcgoble3, proponent of Route 4 (from Xenia, at least)
  9. ^ I love Fresh Meat. Reloaded is so overused.
  10. Then you don't want to watch this video that's going around of the operator on a SlingShot ride (not the one at KI, but same type) telling the rider to check her seat belt: (language warning: the girl's reaction contains a little profanity)
  11. Voyage at night > Beast at night > Banshee at night. Though all three are awesome in their own ways.
  12. More seats = more weight = more stress on the structure, motor, etc. = higher maintenance costs.
  13. Just remember that loose articles are not permitted on Banshee. jcgoble3, cross-threading
  14. I was born to be a perfectionist, so I can't help it.
  15. Thirty seconds turned up three pages on the KI website that all say simply "Vortex": https://www.visitkingsisland.com/plan-a-visit/fast-lane https://www.visitkingsisland.com/things-to-do/thrill-rides https://www.visitkingsisland.com/plan-a-visit/rider-height-requirements I'm confused.
  16. Wait, it's "The Vortex" and not just "Vortex"? That's new to me.
  17. A short, gentle toss can be easily controlled by almost anyone. A kick, even a gentle one, requires pinpoint accuracy when foot meets ball, or else the ball will fly sideways. And a small error at the contact point results in a large error in the path of the ball.
  18. Both of these are why I do not try to leave right at closing. I will take my time leaving the park, stopping to get one more soft drink, walk up to the bathroom, walk back to the fudge shop, and so on, waiting for the majority of the cars to leave. Then when I finally do start my engine, I leave via the north exit (since I have to go north on 71 anyway). Much less stress that way.
  19. What happens when a well-meaning person attempts to kick the ball, only to display a complete lack of soccer skills by accidentally glancing it off the side of his foot and sending it sideways into the crowd? Some people just suck at kicking balls. jcgoble3, one of those "some people"
  20. It's not that the "diving gimmick gets old", it's that it simply IS a gimmick and a boring one at that. One lap on ShieKra was enough for me to figure that out. At least that's my opinion. YMMV.
  21. No, I'm referring to a character from the old Slaughterhouse whose actor frequents these boards.
  22. I wonder if Sam will find a new home there, or if they'll have an all-new cast of characters.
  23. Unfortunately, I seem to have lost the DeLorean.
  24. Keep in mind that mid-July to early August is peak season for amusement parks, so naturally the park will be more crowded now than it was a month ago. Just don't let the crowds get you down, and remember that good times can be had even if you don't ride much.
  25. The forums do permit the action, but you must alter your theme into mobile mode first. Thanks! I thought it was a "feature" of the boards, because even Tapatalk does not allow you to unlike posts after changing pages. I didn't know that you could do it in the mobile web skin.
