  1. Whole pizza? Well over $20.
  2. Which means I need to leave earlier, as I add an hour on the way home. Accounting for the time change, it's three hours to get there and five hours to get home. If I would be there until, let's say, 9:00, then I may need a hotel room that night, which might put the kibosh on my plans to go that day.
  3. Found it: https://twitter.com/AboutThemeParks/status/487679235989852160 It was retweeted by Holiday World. That will require some adjustments to my plans if I go that day, as I was planning on leaving around 7:30 to 8:00 to get home at a reasonable hour.
  4. ^ Where did you hear that the announcement will be at park closing? I haven't seen that yet.
  5. I can't speak as to this park specifically, but at most parks, Tuesday will usually be slightly less crowded than Monday, as the latter draws people who have used paid time off to create a three-day weekend.
  6. I've noticed something recently on the 66 Days diary. For a while now, the Mayflower's sails have been reefed, leaving it adrift and at the mercy of the sea. Given that this has gone on for a week or two now, I'm convinced that it means something about the new ride, but I'm at a loss as to what it could mean. Any ideas?
  7. Are you referring to this blog post? I'm trying to decipher it myself. In other news, there's a chance (though not a big one) that I may be at Holiday World on the day of the announcement.
  8. Already being discussed here: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/29812-whats-up-with-shake-rattle-and-roll/
  9. I've used the drink wristbands (for 20 oz drinks, not souvenir cup refills) on each of my past three visits, and have never been questioned about it. Some employees have even spotted the wristband and asked if I want a drink with the meal without me prompting them.
  10. What's left of that little area of the park anyway? (haven't checked it out in forever) Are you implying it was made into a designated smoking area? If so, consider my knee slapped. Yes, it is now called Tower Gardens, and it is a giant designated smoking area.
  11. Hey now, I have two abaci behind my bedroom door!
  12. ^^ Somehow, it doesn't surprise me that you were there.
  13. Most importantly, did you have fun being by yourself?
  14. Presumably, it would not be legal to physically force the person to hand over their name and pose for the photo with the sign in their hand. So if the person says no and walks away, I don't think there's anything the park could do about it.
  15. Um... what are you trying to imply? jcgoble3, knowing full well he won't get a useful answer
  16. Sounds great! Be sure to tell us how Raising Cane's chicken, bread, and sauce compares to Chicken Shack at KI.
  17. Line length is not an indicator of popularity. Firehawk often has a line the same length as or longer than Banshee, but that does not mean that it is more popular. In Vortex's case, it is first a capacity machine that moves people through quickly, which helps keep the line from being longer than it is. Second, Vortex has an extremely short physical queue compared to other major rides, which means that many a person in the general public sees a line spilling out into the midway and assumes that it is over an hour when it is really only 20 to 30 minutes. See also Adventure Express, another ride to which both of the above apply (and there, a line out to the midway is really only about 15 to 20 minutes).
  18. Then I must have gotten a show with the girls in 2012 (I've only been there once so can't tell them apart). There was virtually no splashing, and what splashes there were only sent a few drops a few rows out for the most part. I sat in the fourth row near the trainers' platform in the center and did not get wet at all. I made up for it with a rather large splash at the dolphin show later in the day.
  19. I'm a bit ambivalent about it myself. I think it's fun, but I also don't feel like I'm missing anything if I don't ride it.
  20. I waited 75 minutes for food, and still had time for Mondo Monsoon and Rendezvous Run beforehand and Mondo Monsoon again after. As for the food, the pulled pork sliders were good.
  21. I did the luau. I was first on Mondo Monsoon at 8:30, then quickly did Rendevous Run with almost no wait before getting in the food line about 8:45. I finally reached the serving line and got my food just as the fireworks began at 10:00 (side note: I had a perfect, unobstructed view of the fireworks, and not only that but it was close to a speaker, so I could hear the soundtrack for the fireworks as well). I did manage to sneak another ride on Mondo Monsoon before closing. I cannot believe that they started with only a single serving line. At some point while I was in line, they grabbed some extra tables and used them to set up a makeshift second serving line, but it still wasn't enough. They should have had AT LEAST four serving lines, if not six, for a crowd that size. They severely underestimated how many people would come in for it. Quite a few people were in street clothes, apparently just coming for the free food. As for the menu, it was fruit, pulled pork sliders, corn dogs, and shrimp coсktail, among other things that I don't remember. It was a very nice selection. As for ride queues, I barely rode anything during the day. After Banshee and Diamondback ERT (with the GOCC event), I only rode one thrill ride in the dry park between 10:00 AM and 11:30 PM, and that because I won a front-of-the-line pass at a spin-the-wheel game (I used it on Banshee, of course). However, right before closing, both Drop Tower and Delirium were walk-ons, and Banshee looked like a walk-on from the midway as well. So there was value in sticking it out until midnight. Soak City in the evening had typical afternoon/early evening lines; it honestly doesn't seem like Soak City gets longer lines on Saturdays. I think the extra crowds just fill up the wave pools, Coconut Cove, and the kiddie pools. (edited because I'm tired of the boards censoring those four letters when it's virtually always a false positive)
  22. http://www.holidayworld.com/holiblog/2014/07/12/t-minus-12-days/ Largest investment ever. "By far." And it's one single attraction. And Leah drops a hint with the word "flip" at the end. Steel coaster with inversions, anyone?
  23. N. O. NO. That is all. Transmitted from Wild Space via my datapad's DROID brain
  24. I got the email despite having been to KI a day or two earlier. Tip of the day: When eating at Chicken Shack, do NOT dip the bread in the house sauce. It took several ounces of pop to wash that horrible taste out of my mouth. Use the house sauce for the chicken as it was designed. Transmitted from Wild Space via my datapad's DROID brain
