Falcons Fury at Busch Gardens Tampa

I don't care for Power Tower's drop side. I find KI's Drop Tower to be much more fun. The pure freefall gets me in ways that being artificially shot downward never will. -
There is a very good reason why MOST water rides have little or no restraints. See Shoot the Rapids.

I stayed there last year for opening day. I personally found my bed to be extremely uncomfortable, hence why I spent extra points to stay at the Microtel Inn instead this year.

Holiday World Free Day (5/15/2014)
jcgoble3 replied to MantisMan's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The most popular places are the Lake Rudolph campground next door and Santa's Lodge just down the street. However, it may be difficult to get a reservation at either place for that weekend, since it is HoliWood Nights weekend and they are likely to be full. Beyond that, start searching travel sites; you're probably looking at a 15- to 30-minute drive each way if you can't get in at Lake Rudolph or Santa's Lodge. -

Don't just dream of it. Do it! You will not regret it at all. Holiday World is one of the best parks out there. -

Opening Day for The Beach is May 24, 2014

The weather might keep crowds away. The 5K will definitely bring the crowds to the park. I'm going with the definite rather than the maybe. Transmitted from Wild Space via my datapad's DROID brain -

They finally opened the box during dinner. Inside, among a pile of shredded paper, was an old, extremely worn, locked journal. I have a close-up picture of it on my good camera; I'll have to transfer it to my computer before I can post it with my trip report tomorrow. No Beach? Sounds like I'll be playing some MagiQuest that morning/afternoon instead, because I'm not waiting in the long lines at KI and I'm not driving down just to do a 5K and leave. That's perfectly fine with me, since I really don't feel like doing a waterpark in this weather. Transmitted from Wild Space via my datapad's DROID brain -

And now the intrigue starts. They made a show out of having a kid help dig out a "treasure chest". They didn't openly show what was in it, but it was clearly a bunch of paper. As they were taking it away for "study", they "dropped" some of the paper on the ground. This is what it says: Transmitted from Wild Space via my datapad's DROID brain -

Holiday World 2014 Park Map

Could just be a reference to the Mayflower added this year... but ya never know... I think it's a combination. They're combining a reference to the 2014 attraction with a hint of the preview of the 2015 attraction. At least that's what I think. -
Last year, the Reds Grille was doing the same on the first Friday in May. The bartender told me that there were no alcohol sales allowed until after 5pm because of the education days and all of the kids in the park. It would therefore seem reasonable to assume that when education days end, so will the no alcohol before 5pm rule. (Though when you ass-u-me, you make an... )

https://www.facebook.com/groups/325861871036/ The free day event has been named "Loose Lips Sink Ships". I wonder if that is a reference to the possibility that we may see something "secret" tomorrow, i.e. the first signs of construction for Project 2015? -

Just another reason why I prefer paper tickets. Lose those and it's nobody's fault but your own. I'd rather not be left hanging and lose my reservation because the park's system went down through no fault of my own, thank you very much. -
McSalsa's Coaster Adventures: The Uncrowded Island- May 13th, 2014
jcgoble3 replied to McSalsa's topic in Trip Reports
Great report! The problem with WindSeeker is that it's very good at seeking wind, but it doesn't know what to do with the wind when it finds it. And weight, both total and the distribution thereof, plays a large role in determining the size of the splash on the log flume. Heavier boats will get larger splashes, as will boats where the majority of the weight is in the front. -
That's under discussion here: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/29254-holiday-world-2014-park-map/

I wore a fanny pack for several years, up until last fall. The only ride at KI that I was ever required to take it off on was Xtreme Skyflyer. Firehawk required me to turn it to the side. Otherwise I encountered no problems with it. However, I have not worn it since last August.
-
I have seen at least one report that even fanny packs were not allowed on Banshee; however, I cannot confirm whether or not that is true. Cargo shorts/pants are the best option.

If she's carrying a purse, she's probably carrying too much. Boil it down to the absolute bare essentials and carry them in cargo pockets.

Most runners do run better in cooler temperatures; I know I do. If you're running, it will feel like 60s, but walkers will feel every bit of the 40s. Having not done a race or training run in 52 weeks to the day Saturday, I have no choice but to walk. As for last year, I believe it was indeed around 60, maybe upper 50s, when people were arriving at 6am, but it did warm up quickly. The temperature graph here says otherwise, but I think that data is wrong, as I probably would not have worn a t-shirt and shorts that morning if it was indeed in the 40s. That graph actually says it was only 50 at the end of the run, which is laughable because at 9am I was walking out to my car in a t-shirt and shorts that were soaking wet, having just taken a shower with my clothes on, and I did not feel cold at all at that time. One would think that a person wearing only a t-shirt and shorts that are soaking wet in 50°F temperatures would be freezing. I wasn't.

I am registered! I assume so, since the registration form contains a field for your member number.

^ Don't forget to factor in the cost of parking and other Platinum perks and discounts. That includes checking whether the other parks also have the 10% off food and merchandise discounts.
