  1. Being a '90s kid myself (born in '87 but was too young to retain memories of the '80s), I knew the Flintstones and Jetsons primarily through children's books and later comic books. I know I still have a stack of Flintstones/Jetsons comic books around here somewhere. I actually do not recall ever seeing them on TV, but the books and comics were enough for me to recognize them at PKI in the '90s.
  2. ^ If that is a legitimate health condition, get some documentation from your doctor explaining what the condition is and what limitations it places on you, then take that to Guest Services. They may be able to give you a disability pass that allows you to obtain a return time and wait in a more relaxing and cooler area before boarding through the exit. Give it a try; it can't hurt to ask.
  3. True about line jumping but in some cases speeding is okay like when I-75's under construction speed limit is 45 MPH! Insane that's like a normal road!Look at I-465, speed limit is 55 at all times, way too slow. It is not "way too slow". Speed limits are set where they are for a reason. Have you seen the creepy workzone awareness signs? "13 people have died in workzones this year alone" I forget the exact quote, but they pug stakes with hardhats and reflective vests in the median. Good. Maybe that will raise awareness of why you should slow down in construction zones and obey the speed limit no matter how ridiculous you think the limit is. Those speed limits are lower in construction zones for the safety of the workers.
  4. ^ There's a reason that two reports are need to kick someone out of line. If only one report was needed, then any malicious individual could kick out whoever they wanted. Therefore, two reports are needed from two different parties; the second reports serves to confirm that the first report was in fact true and not somebody trying to kick their ex out of line just to be mean.
  5. I suspected that ticket windows could do parking refunds, but wasn't sure, so I just said GR to be safe. But that's good to know.
  6. I should add that that applies assuming that this is your first visit to the park. If you have already been to the park once, using the unprocessed pass for admission, then they probably will not be able to scan your voucher. You would have to go the route of paying and getting a refund from Guest Services, as I described above.
  7. Yes, they will scan your voucher for parking. If for any reason they are unable to do so, pay the regular fee at tolls and Guest Services should be able to refund it once you show them your processed pass and parking receipt.
  8. There will still be people in the park, but I doubt there will still be anybody in line for Banshee at 10:30, considering that it's a Friday. Previous Fridays this season (excluding opening day, which is always slammed and doubly so when you open something like Banshee) have seen very short lines across the park. I would not expect a 30-minute wait for Banshee when they cut the line off at 10:00. Also, there is no such thing as LRT; it's ERT. The "E" stands for "exclusive", not "early".
  9. The TOS prohibits one-word posts, but I don't think it says anything about zero-word posts.
  10. At Cedar Point's Platinum Pass ride nights, riders were required to show their pass at the entrance each time they entered the line. The same was true with CoasterMania where the event lanyard had to be shown. I would imagine the same would be true here, requiring you to flash your Gold or Platinum Pass at the ride entrance each time.
  11. Perhaps if this eyesore takes a lot of abuse, they'll have to remove it earlier than planned. Thank you!
  12. Only the presence of the # sign makes this an accurate quote, because #Jonathan is the noodle's name and most definitely not mine.
  13. Wait and see what the crowds are like before you buy it. Last year on CoasterMania day, the weather produced lines short enough that it wouldn't have been worth the money. Also, don't forget that you get plenty of ERT before opening and after closing, covering almost all of the coasters. Consider taking advantage of that and spending the day on smaller rides. Sometimes the most memorable days are spent riding things like Monster, Eagles, Calypso, and other small flats. And don't bypass their Dodgems: good, relatively fast cars with no center island/divider or one-way signs, which is a dying breed.
  14. The still image shown by YouTube is plenty odd enough. I think I'll skip watching the video.
  15. ^ As a matter of fact, Maverick was the other ride I was thinking of when I wrote that. Both are violent, but neither is rough. That's why it ranks so highly in my personal rankings (speaking of which, I need to update those rankings since I have yet to add anything from my 2012 Florida trip to them). In fact, it may be time to reconsider whether Millie and Dragster are truly worthy of being ranked over them (as well as whether Banshee beats them all).
  16. Well, a station could be placed between Racer, AE, and FOF, with access from a path between either Racer and FOF or Racer and AE. The challenge there would be to lay track from Rivertown to there, specifically through the valley behind Vortex. Then from there to the front gate station, the main challenge is the valley behind AE and Banshee. From front gate to Soak City, it could simply run along the edge of the parking lot. So, yes, there are some challenges, but they could overcome them if they wanted to. But I agree that it's not likely to ever happen. I'm just dreaming out loud here.
  17. The general public sees the train as primarily Soak City Excursion Line. The park simply caters to them. I would imagine that if the train track was expanded to circle the entire dry park in addition to stopping at Soak City, the general public would see it as a way to get from Point A to Point B, those two points being any two stations. You could, for example, add a station somewhere around Oktoberfest, and add another at the front of the park, possibly a second-floor station like at Magic Kingdom as part of a front gate overhaul.
  18. Since the OP did mention "other rides", I want to take a moment to point out, since this discussion has focused exclusively on Voyage, that the problems being discussed are unique to Voyage. The rest of the rides in the park are in excellent shape with no issues. Voyage is the only ride that has "deteriorated" significantly over time, and that has been mostly reversed.
  19. With today being opening day, Adam Krackenberger has reported in the HoliWood Nights Facebook group that "After a front and back ride, I concur that it is running better then ever. At some point I dont know how you will get it better thrn season before."
  20. Yes. Remember that the waterpark is not open for the season yet. The vast majority of the train's riders are using it as a shuttle between Rivertown and Soak City. With the waterpark still closed, the number of people who get on the train just to take a lap on the train is quite small, so three cars are plenty sufficient (and probably only one train since it doesn't stop at Soak City). It's possible they may put more cars on tomorrow for the busy day, but I doubt it. I wouldn't expect to see two full-length trains until Soak City opens.
  21. Technically, yes, they are all wheel seats, but in reality, in the front seat of a two-row car your butt is roughly (no pun intended) halfway between the wheels, whereas in the back row it is directly over top of the wheels. So therefore, in a two-row car, I only consider the back to be a wheel seat. (The same applies to a three-row car such as that found on The Racer or Beast, where the front seat will not be nearly as rough as the back seat, although the middle seat is still smoothest.) And your second paragraph is dead on. A glass-smooth Voyage would still be a stark contrast to other "smooth" woodies. I describe the Voyage as violent, which is a totally different animal from rough. Those who say it was excessively rough last year are failing to recognize that difference. I like my wooden coasters violent. I do not like them rough.
  22. Screamscape reports trees being cleared... near Voyage. If there is any truth to that (it is Screamscape, after all), then I would say yes. jcgoble3, debating about whether to spend the $50 in gas necessary to do the free day...
  23. I've ridden The Voyage at HoliWood Nights 2011 and 2012 and several times throughout the 2013 season. In 2011 it was extremely rough, to the point that the front seat was the only seat I could stand to ride in. The difference between my 2011 rides and my 2012 rides were like night and day. In 2012 it improved so much that I could even tolerate an occasional wheel seat ride. At HWN 2013, it was even better to the point where I had no problem marathoning it in the very back row (wheel seat). In July, it was the same way, albeit with trains one car shorter. By the time October rolled around, though, it had gotten a little rougher as I had expected; wheel seats were still OK for me for a single ride, but that was it. If they've done even more track work this past offseason, I would expect it to start the season running great, but it will probably get gradually worse as the season goes on. So I recommend going early in the season, either this month or next month, for the best rides.
  24. Yeah, you probably could even call the park and ask Paula to put your name on the list for you. She's already done that for a couple of older folk who aren't on Facebook. Or I could just put your name on the list for you, since I'm a member of the Facebook group.
  25. Plus whatever was going on on the brake run right after noon. Har har har har har...
