Park hours during the fair are 4pm to 9pm weekdays and 1pm to 9pm on Saturdays. Waterpark is closed. Of note, they previously listed that despite the waterpark being closed, Big Surf Wave Pool would be open during the fair. This is no longer listed, and the edit removing that statement is rather amateur, as I can see a bit of the rectangle drawn over that statement in their paint program protruding from the bottom of the weekend hours box. On a bit of a tangent, their hours are provided entirely in a single PNG image that relies exclusively on color-coding. I wonder how many color-blind people have complained about this. Or totally blind people that rely on a screen reader to navigate web pages. For the record, their hours are listed here: http://www.kentuckykingdom.com/experience/hours/

After Tuesday, August 11, the park is closed until the following Saturday and Sunday, and then closed again until the start of the fair on Thursday, August 20. After the fair, they go to weekends-only operation, plus Labor Day, through Sunday, September 13. They are then closed for a buy-out on the next Saturday, open to the public on Sunday the 20th, closed for a buy-out on Saturday the 26th, and that's the end of the season. I may be wrong here, but I do believe September 20 was previously marked as a buy-out day.

Whither Conneaut Lake Park Now?
jcgoble3 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
According to Wikipedia and the captions on a couple of YouTube videos, including one from TPR, Blackpool's Tumble Bug was closed and removed in 2006. -
I'd start her on Backlot, as it's slower and less intense than The Bat or The Racer and she'll have a chance to catch her breath when it stops at the helicopter scene. From there, if she's game for more, The Bat would be my next choice followed by Racer. Then, if she's still enjoying it, that might be the time to tackle Adventure Express to beat down the fear of Big Thunder Mountain once and for all.

I believe it's after the first and third shows on Saturdays, and the first two shows on all other days the show runs.

Cool! Sorry you didn't run into us (the meetup group). I was wearing my KICentral shirt, so would have been easy to spot. Speaking of companies hosting events at the park Saturday, another one was Big Ass Fans. Yes, seriously, that's their name: http://www.bigassfans.com/

(Apologies for the double post) Doh! I saw this comment yesterday, but only just now realized what you meant. I just checked, and apparently neither "selfie" nor "selfies" are recognized by my phone's autocorrect, which tries to change both to "selfish". Fixed.

Speaking of skunks, last night my group was delayed coming off of our night ride on White Water Canyon because of a skunk. We came around the final bend in the exit path and had to stop because there was a skunk parked directly in the middle of the exit, at the end of the ramp. We waited for a few seconds, and the skunk eventually took off into the woods toward the train tracks. Something needs to be done about the skunks.

I think they're open until 9 on Saturdays.

Yup, still there. [emoji14] (Taken from the front of the International Showplace, while waiting for Off the Charts to start.)

No line at Starbucks!
-
Earlier on The Beast, a woman directly in front of me and silver2005 had her iPhone out taking selfies and video the whole first half of the ride. Ride ops did nothing at all, not even a lift hill announcement to "please put your cell phone away" despite the fact that she was holding the phone over her head most of the first lift hill. angryface.gif

Beast line is to the vending machines, with no switchbacks open.
-
Yes, they can. The Gold Pass entrance is positioned between Starbucks and the artist station.

That would be awfully hard to change back and forth each weekend. Remember that the park needs to be kid-friendly in the afternoons on Saturday and Sunday. A pool full of simulated blood and severed body parts is definitely PG-13.

First, keep in mind that the meal plan is for one, and only one, person, and I'm 90% certain that no sharing is permitted. If multiple people want to use it, then multiple plans must be purchased, one per person, each at full price. That said, it takes three meals to get your money's worth out of the plan. So if either of the adults think they will eat three or more meals in one day, go for it. If you'll only eat lunch, dinner, and small snacks, skip it (only full meals are available on the meal plan, no snacks). However, the kids will be better off without it, as three adult meals would be more than kids of that age can eat, and the meal plan does not cover any kids' meals or kids' menus anywhere in the park.

^ Is that going to be a daily thing now? People confirming that the platform is still there?

As I've said before, it's sadly going to take a serious injury before the park gets serious about enforcing the rule. And that is not in any way off topic for this thread. This thread is basically the "catch-all" for anything about the park that doesn't fit in an existing thread and which you don't want to start a whole new thread on.

YES. THIS.

Carowinds' Thunder Road to race no more
jcgoble3 replied to jsus's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
According to one of the Coaster Crew's Facebook pages, it was said at the Coaster Crew event on Saturday that Thunder Road's trains (three-bench PTCs) will go to KD (as whole trains) or KI (as parts). Glad to hear that the trains will live on.- 146 replies

No. This is the best one-word post ever. No other words are necessary.

Not to mention that dueling trains on a single-track coaster requires running two trains at all times. I've read trip reports that have said Iron Colossus sometimes runs with a single train. Its not impossible. But then it's not dueling, which was my entire point. (A)bort, [R]etry, (I)gnore?

Some of the comments on that post are... interesting. Top comment: "I wish they would've contacted someone from the community to make the rendering. Their's is crappy and half-arsed." Indeed it is: low frame rate, incomplete supports (according to a reply to that comment), and rendered in a completely empty field with no surroundings. I'm surprised the people behind No Limits actually took credit for the video being made with their software, considering how low quality the video is.
