  1. So, KI was a large part of my dream last night... I walked out of Festhaus to notice that Slingshot is gone (in the dream, Slingshot is where Delirium is now) and somehow, Son of Beast is still standing (however, it's SBNO, as I noticed in the dream). I also rode this Monster-like ride where you boarded in a house, which opened up so you could spin around. The ride ended with you and another in a parachute, having to either ride the currents or drop down quickly and make your way back to the park. I ended up in this weird neighborhood and was trying to think of how to get back in the park.
  2. You know it's the offseason when you begin your Countdown to Opening Day on Twitter! I was originally gonna start when we had 45 days to go (in honor of the 45th anniversary), but I decided to start now as a certain song comes to mind (and on the airwaves) when at the park. If you'd like to follow along, I'm @MDMC01 Side-Note: Apparently you can tag people in posts now. Cool!
  3. I just saw the video (thanks for posting, Chris! ) and I pretty much stand by my comments earlier. I'm not putting the ride down in any way (I have not yet ridden a Sky Rocket II and I think I'd really enjoy it based on my love for Intamin Impulse Coasters), but I think the colors would be more suited for a ride with a name like SkyChaser, Limit, AeroDiver or something fresh and different like that* (if that makes sense?). *Think the theming behind the original AIR at Alton Towers, it had that refreshing newness vibe (at least to me)
  4. Haven't seen the teaser vid yet, but from what I see from the pictures, I like the color scheme, but I don't really think it fits the theme... I feel black track, yellow spine and purple rails (with maybe turquoise supports) would work well. I think the all turquoise look would more befit a coaster with an edgy, new millienium theme. Then again, I haven't seen the teaser, so I'll reserve further judgement until then.
  5. So, I'm officially on the desktop version and so far, so good! And KDD, I meant the auto-emojis. At least when I last used mobile, the only KIC emojis I could use were the ones I knew how to create myself (Ex: : + D turns into ) . I couldn't choose from a drop-down on mobile like I can now. EDIT: So, quick thing; I've noticed that when I try to change the background photo, the window to do so quickly closes (and I can't do so); also, are signatures gone or are they still being retrieved/updated?
  6. For the most part, I like the new mobile version. Have yet to try the desktop version of the site. I like that I can put more types of smileys on posts like .
  7. Besides KI's Opening Day for Mystic Timbers, I'd love to get to Carowinds to ride Nighthawk. Also, a NorCal trip may be in the cards, but this doesn't seem terribly likely this year (though I will miss not being able to ride V2 at SFDK). Alternatives include Cedar Point (the most likely option) or Six Flags Great America (possible, but I'm leaning towards a CP trip b/c Rougerau/Valravn/Millie/Maverick). Also, a Wisconsin trip (for Mt Olympus/Timber Falls) is most likely in the works. EDIT: I'd also like to try to return to Kentucky Kingdom for some more T3, Eye of The Storm, and those old-school waterslides.
  8. Welp, today's the last day Adventure is open! We can only hope that the exhibit lives on in some way such as retaining some Adventure-esque elements in the dino exhibit (like searching for certain dinos) or at the very least, incorporate some throwback Easter Eggs. 'Twas a great 17 years; you had a great run! ..but at least we still have Oceans!
  9. I second this opinion! T-Bird is fun and beautiful, Gatekeeper is a nice mix of chill and thrill and Wild Eagle... it was unique as it was my first wing coaster. I'd also like to ride X-Flight someday.
  10. You know it's the offseason when you reminisce on past theme park trips and start to prepare for next year's adventures. Specifically, I watched a Great Bear video the other day and thought about how great the coaster was Also, I got my (now) annual coaster shirt (+ a hoodie because Winterfest) for Christmas and I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone at Frisch's on Opening Day.
  11. The article above mentioned "seemingly paranormal contents" in the shed- could there be a Spilntercat inside? Possibly Oakley (the giant tree thing)? Honestly, I'm not too concerned about what's in the shed, I'm just excited to ride this thing!
  12. I'm not sure why I was sparkling, snow perhaps... Also, as I said before, I had a blast last Friday night and looking forward to next year's GWL excursion (and Winterfest!)
  13. On a related note... You know it's the Off-Season when* the front of your car starts to resemble the front of a boat on Congo Falls due to the snow accumulation *Only valid this year and all non-Winterfest years Also, when you make plans about what to ride Opening Day and are even thinking about what slide you want to ride first once Soak City opens!
  14. The offseason is starting to get to me...

  15. Just saw a video, looks cool; it's like a mini -Voyage with those turns
  16. This has happened to me a few times when I've used the site while on my phone, but not recently.
  17. Agreed! I can jump into the Kalos and Alola regions (Pokemon) anytime (and anywhere) I want, however, there is only one place I can ride The Beast. What I'm trying to say is, I can be on my phone (or 3DS) anywhere, but I can only experince awesome rides at a place like Kings Island.
  18. Interesting article. Anyone think the land that was once the old Kings Island Inn will become a Cedar Fair- owned sports center?
  19. So, I feel like my post is turning into a "my favorite things about KI" list, but here goes... Best: Meeting up with KICers. Walking to The Bat/riding front seat of The Bat Blood Drums Being in the park during Haunt/watching and interacting with Scareactors Tom and Chee Grilled Cheese/Chicken Shack bread (See also LaRosas pizza and/or Starbucks) A good ride on an old classic… see Congo Falls, Scrambler, Zephyr, Vortex, Beast, etc. Adventure Express at night (or during the day with most of the effects working) Riding Banshee in the very back, 4th seat (closest to exit) Walking through Backwoods Bayou after midnight Beast during the day The drop while riding 7-2 on Vortex The Boyz are Back (oh wait… ) Riding Delirium during a heat wave! Seeing Sam at Slaughter House The rush from Drop Tower (though I have not ridden in a while) Cirque (preferably, with Yannick/Fanny and Ariel, but Cirque is/was great as is! ) Worst: Going to the food place with the fastest service as the place you really want to go to has a huge line Greying out on Vortex (not a horrible thing, but still bad...) Getting a headache when sitting in “passengers seat” after Backlot’s Helix Shakiness on Flying Ace EDITed for clarity
  20. (regarding KK's 2017 addition) Not bad! I've never been on a Larson Looper before, so that should be interesting! They are really running on that storm theme, though! Might try to sneak a trip down there next year to try it out! EDIT: Also, I'm really glad they are not calling it a "coaster"
  21. I voted for Banshee as I think it is the best of the choices. Second place would probably go to Gatekeeper and then third would probably be between Diamondback and Raptor (as I haven't ridden Raptor in a few years). Also, I cannot comment on Valravn or Rougarou yet as I have not ridden them.
  22. Good stuff; IndyGuy! I had a blast Sunday and Adventure and Oceans were probably my favorite exhibits, though the others were cool as well!
  23. I had another KI dream, or rather, about getting to KI. I really wanted to go to Haunt to visit Sam, but several things seemed to deter me from said goal, such as me being in the car with someone who was going the wrong way (as in, not towards Kings Island) and meeting someone only to find out they wanted to use me for some experiment or something. I don't remember if I ever made it to Haunt in my dream, though.
  24. I've not heard anything official, but have heard rumors it could top 200'. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk If it turns out to be true, that would be Cedar Point's sixth coaster over 200 feet! WOW!!! EDIT: Also, some cool names would be Mean Streak: Unleashed or Mean Streak: Reborn!
  25. Great topic! For the most part, I enjoyed Tropical Plunge (the yellow one- I've nicknamed it Raichu's Electric Feel- is a little intense for me; my favorite is the green one (Venusaur's Vine Whip); however, I did not have a chance gotten to ride the teal/icy blue tube slide with the bigger drop (Lapras| Delibird and Lapras's Slippery Slopes). I also enjoyed the older attractions I did experience (Sidewinder, Breaker's Bay) however, I wish I would have had the time to ride more of the older slides this year (as the focus was (understandably) on Tropical Plunge). In fact, the only non-dropping body slide experience I got this year was not until my recent trip to Kalihari in Wisconsin Dells.
