  1. Hey all, I'm back from my weekend at The Kingdom- trip report will be up by End of Day! :)

  2. Thanks for the info Vortex lover and jtro!
  3. Is it because it is a far distance from the parking lot to the park?
  4. Hey all, Does anyone on here know how much parking is? I'm visiting the Kingdom this weekend and I'm super pumped. I tried calling, but they wanted me to leave a message (I didn't). Thank you in advance. -MDMC01 PS: Watch for a trip report when I come back
  5. On the subject of Ned Beatty, he voiced Lotso is Toy Story 3. And whoever got to meet Ned Beatty, cool!
  6. 9 days ya'll! :) Next Thursday will be here before ya know it...

  7. Bumping because this thread was mentioned in the Haunt 2016 thread. Someone can do a more complete 2015 rundown (as I only visited the park once during Haunt in 2015 and didn't do many mazes), but... New mazes: Blackout- walking through the darkness with strobe lights. Located in Action Zone, replaced Club Blood Halfway through the Haunt season, Delta Delta Die was renamed Sorority House. That's all I've got! -MDMC, who doesn't like getting scared, but enjoys seeing my good friend Sam the Butcher EDIT: Hot Blooded also returned for the 2015 season (in the International Showplace).
  8. I think user chuck norris is referring to the old Flight Commander pad (where the Dinos Alive parties used to be held). Flight Commander was a ride on a tower that spun around and had vehicles that one could spin upside-down if they so desired. It closed in 1995. Fun Fact: Drop Zone (now Drop Tower) was originally slated to fill this spot, but I think either Canada's Wonderland or Carowinds got our proposed version, and we got a different model of drop ride in the lovely Drop Zone: Stunt Tower (now called Drop Tower) in its current Action Zone.
  9. I saw that generator for the first time a few days ago; good find!
  10. That article Chugh posted mentioned a "silent disco" where listeners pick their own music, interesting...
  11. Thanks for the info on the VR Dragon, King Ding Dong/Chugh! And KDD, there is only one coaster where VR is not optional- Galatica (formally Air) at Alton Towers. EDIT: Also, for those keeping score, Cedar Fair has tested VR on two of their coasters: Thunder Run (Canada's Wonderland) and Iron Dragon (Cedar Point).
  12. A Kids Bop version of "Timber" is used during Peanuts Party in the Park...
  13. The Bat's location and the first new Cirque act are amazing! :)

  14. So, I saw Cirque with the new acts and... it was bittersweet. The first new act featuring However, the second one didn't totally wow me. That is probably because I still very much miss Yannick. In fact, I got super sad (I hardly ever cry, but I was very close to tears) However, I did get a bit of closure after the show as I got to talk with someone about where DuoFannick is now. So, will I see it again? Maybe. But only for that one new act! Also, the drummer is back
  15. Is Iron Dragon's VR optional?
  16. Those seatbelts on Nitro look cool, but I can see where someone could get their finger caught in there if they held on in the wrong place. Terp (or anyone else on here), what (if any) seatbelts are being used on Nitro now?
  17. I don't really know, each park is different. Cedar Point may have Maverick and a Y2K coaster, but KI has Cirque, The Beast and home park nostalgia. Personally, my favorite theme park (so far) is Hershey Park. Like KI, it's got something for everyone: cool coasters, a good waterpark, and other family attractions (shows, Hershey's ZooAmerica/KI's Dinos + Petting Farm). I don't necessarily want to think of it as a contest, but if we are talking "coaster-wise", I think we've made some strides with Diamondback and Banshee. However, KI have unique coasters like The Beast and Backlot while CP has Dragster, Maverick and Wicked Twister.
  18. Anyone else think that footer-thing looks like a B&M footer? I compared pics (from RCDB) of Diamondback, Lightning Rod (RMC) and Thunderhead (GCI) and saw that the latter two have circular footers while D-back has square footers. Hmmm...
  19. For reference, Cedar Point didn't announce Top Thrill Dragster until the tower was built. Nothing says the announcement has to be before construction. Also, I believe some of Maverick's track was placed before the announcement as well...
  20. Today was/is a great day to go to Kings Island- and hey, park's open till midnight!
  21. It's weird how that works, Terp. I have a similar "horrible at the time, yet a good memory now" type of story. I'm not all that much of a sports fan and I was even less of one when I was a kid. However, my step-dad likes sports and we'd listen to whatever local game was on while driving around. It was like torture back then, but now I think back on those times in a positive light. And I may have listened to a sports game myself while driving (but only for a few seconds ).
  22. Did not know that; that's cool that Maverick was planned that far back.
  23. See legacy Cedar Fair parks adding rides similar to Surf Dog (which was put in under Paramount as Avatar). Also, random question/possibility: If Paramount would not have added Backlot to three of their parks, would coasters like Maverick and Taron exist today (I know Backlot was made by Premier and the other 2 mentioned are Intamin creations, but still)? Also, would RMC hybrids be a "thing" if Son of Beast hadn't existed? Think about it.
  24. Just thought of this... Do a barrel roll!!!
