Beastie + Fairly = Beastly. But hath since been changed.
-
Well what should I call her? Many liked Scooby Doo, but many loved The Beastie. Not too many liked Fairly Odd Coaster, and Woodstock Express is the current name.
-
Correction: Ye "loved" Viacom. Nobody really seems to know if Paramount truly ran the park (maybe the very first year could have alluded to sumtin). Maybe. EDIT: See, this is why you carefully reread your posts! What I left out is that nobody seems to know WHAT WOULD HAPPEN if Paramount truly ran the park for more than 1 year. So sorry about that mishap, chicos y chicas!

Scooby Doo opened with the park in 1972, alongside The Racer. If I were to take a wild stab at it, I would think that Scooby Doo was finished before The Racer, only because it was a smaller project. Therefore making Scooby Doo/Woodstock Express Wooden Coaster 1, The Racer Wooden Coaster 2, The Beast Wooden Coaster 3, and tsaeB fo niS Wooden Coaster 4. However, in the likely event that I am wrong, and that The Racer was finished first, then The Racer is Wooden Coaster 1 and Woodstock Express Wooden Coaster 2.

Oh Lordy, up until now, I thought TERPY said Congo Falls! What is wrong with me?!
-
Who came up with the idea for advertisements in parks in this thread?! Don't install SIX!
-
Actually, The Beast would be the park's Wooden Coaster 3. I wish RCT3 had a Troika...

If you were the park, why would you post a contest on a page (Facebook) where the people that follow you are ignorant bafoons who care about nothing more than "BRING BAK DA SUN OF TEH BEEST OR IM SPEND NO MONEY IN PARK AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" If you look on the Things People Say on Facebook thread, you see that FB is full of a ton of bull crap, and a contest is a waste of time there. I guess the more grateful crowd that is Twitter should get the contest, but why can't the people who are on Kings Island's email list get information like "The Crypt has reached the end of its service life. It will be replaced by a new Haunt addition." ? I guess what I'm trying to say, is that Kings Island needs to reach out to its fans better thru use of diverse outlets.

Nobody in my school has a Twitter. Everyone has a Facebook. At least to the younger audience, Facebook is the more popular platform.. Although, I do agree with the Colonel. I hate Cedar Fair's parks' FB pages! Way too hard to navigate when compared to the former.

That light above the door to the hangar works again?
-
http://www.visitkingsisland.com/online-fun/crave-twitter-contest I find it somewhat unfair that you need a Twitter to gain access to these contests. I'll never Tweet.

The dried up watery thing is under the wooden bridge in between KIMVRR and WWC. Probably closer to the merchandise cart by WWC.
-
So really, not much has changed, omit a Crypt.

People complain about generic names. Really? We had 5 Drop Zones, 4 Top Guns, and 2 Tomb Raiders. Hell, we had 2 Vortexes (sp?), 2 Flight of Fears, 3 Italian Jobs....
-
I think it's stuped how many people talk bout Delerium's broken transmission. I think Zypher is a stuped ride and should be taken outta King's Island.
-
I voted for all areas. Each has a unique personality to me. International Street: I love the architecture and elegant fountains. I prefer those to that of Kings Dominion's. Action Zone: I love the secludedness of Flight Deck, the way Delirium and Drop Tower act as the center pieces of the area, the way each ride has their own identifiable sounds (Flight Deck's horse-esque anti-rollback, Invertigo's lifts, Delirium's whooshing as it gets started, Drop Tower's hum and magnetic brakes... Some of my favorite sounds in the entirety of the park! Oktoberfest: I love the way Viking Fury swoops over the pond, and I just love Adventure Express! Coney Mall: I like how the area takes you back to a classic amusement park, and The Racer next to the Coney Mall sign is the perfect opening to a great area. Rivertown: This is actually one of my least favorite areas, sad to say. There's just no trees, Diamondback unrightfully conquers the midway in place of a beautiful pond with surrounding trees, and there's a giant unused warehouse sitting in plain sight. The only thing that takes me back to an old fashioned Ohio settlement is the short walkway from the KIMVRR to White Water Canyon. I think that there's even a dried up waterway there (can't believe nobody's noticed it). To me, it seems even more lost than Oktoberfest. Planet Snoopy: I like this area because it is great for kids. The kids can relate to the area as opposed toNickelodeon because half the rides there were loosely themed around shows that were off the air years ago. The area as a whole doesn't seem depressing. Who remembers the Fairly Odd Coaster? That was awful. X-Base: This subsection actually makes me feel like I'm in a government testing facility. Interesting how something simple can go a long way. As a side note, has anybody ever wondered what would happen if Cedar Fair themed Flight of Fear? THAT is interesting.

Why on Earth would we want a dirty park, broken rides and themes (where Delirium's breakdowns are the norm), fading paint... Or an operating Son of Beast!
-
I'm sure many agree that it packs quite a punch for the size and audience that it entertains.
-
I think we should come up with a new name for Son of Beast: It that Must Not be Named sounds fitting, no?
-
Woodstock Express.
-
People here spell Delirium "Delerium". It bothers me too. Same thing with how people spell Zephyr. I can't begin to tell you how many times I've seen "Zeypher" or "Zypher" and the likes.
-
I just felt that the Outer Limits thing was more funny than stuped. Riding Adventure Express, couple behind me: Wife: Whys they gots all dis wood? Husband: Cuz it's just there for special effex, yeh know? EDIT: ^That might've been a perverted "joke".

Kings Dominion Haunt Update(s)
TheCrypt replied to BB1's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
On the topic of ADA Regulations (and thus is completely off topic), but in theory, couldn't the International Restaurant be utilized by the public as a full-scale restaurant? If it was built prior to the new code, it goes by the old code from which it was built, therefore it does not need a ramp or a complete accessible elevator. One of my middle schools works like that (the other 2 middle schools don't have any stairs--new ADA Regulations), as does our high school (no elevators, ramps, just stairs). I know, completely off topic, but it's something that has bothered me for awhile. -
Getting stuck on Kings Island roller coasters.
TheCrypt replied to tuxedoman52's topic in Kings Island
I've been temporarily stopped on Flight Deck's lift before, and stopped in the station on Adventure Express because someone had their phone out on the ride. "Please put away your phone." "..." "Sir, please put away your phone." "..." "Man in the red shirt, put away your phone!" "Uh, I'll have to call yeh back..." EDIT: I completely forgot about a Delirium problem too. I had the same problem as Oldiesmann. Thanks for reminding me! -
Me did not. Sure wish I coulda grew years prior, but alas, I did not. As I understand, the worst year to hit the ride was 2007. Frequent break downs, broken effects (sparks, techno rays, black light paint, water shut off). Keep in mid, this ride was under FUN, not Paramount. I find it fun to wonder what could have been. Come 2011, would Tomb Raider: The Ride be in a worse shape than in 2005? Would it be operational, even? Would it be worth a ride, or just a "Well, I guess I'll ride for a count..." kinda ride? The Crypt was fun. That's what it was, never meant to be thrilling IMHO. The hang time against the OTSR's was enough "thrill" for me. I would go into better detail (as if anyone cared), but an iPad isn't my preferred method of type.
