As I have said before things just don't add up. Corkscrew is older than Vortex, there are several Arrows that are out there that are older than Vortex and deal with more weathering than Vortex, so how is it that our Arrow is the one that's at the end of its life cycle? I think that there's more than what we are told, an iconic ride like Vortex at Kings Island isn't just sent off into the sunset like KI did, Mantis got new trains and made into a new ride, Mean Streak got an RMC overhaul. Who's to say there's not something in the works. There's nothing in the works to replace it sure, that's the parks way of getting around us coaster geeks, but maybe it comes back in a way with something better. New track, new trains, new layout, we shall see.

Yeah I think there's something in the works honestly. KI is just messing with us so we don't see anything leaked like we did with Orion. Don't let that picture above fool you, there's something in the works. We're just not supposed to know right now.

I really hope they do something cool with Vortex’s space! I love the idea they had with bringing back the antiques cars — fun for families and brings back nostalgia for older people. I would really like to see them bring back a revamped version of an old attraction.

I mentioned this in another topic, but I would love for Kings Island to get an rmc to fill the empty space of Vortex. As far as updating the Planet Snoopy area, I'm not sure what you would throw in there to make it better. Maybe throw in another kid friendly roller coaster? As far as an old attraction, I would love if they brought something back that was part of Coney Island history way back when.

  3. I highly doubt there's nothing in the works for replacement of Vortex. The park just isn't going to say what's in plan this early. That defeats the purpose of future marketing for whatever is to come 1-2 years down the road for whatever that ride might be.

I just hope they do t whack down the trees inside of the turn around after the first drop.   Kings Islands tree cover gets more sparse each year and those trees will make The Beast more exposed if they are destroyed.

Did you mean to say don't?

  5. Hey I know everyone doesn't know the future for the land that Vortex currently sits on, but just curious here. Does anyone think they'll try to re-use the station a third time? It would be interesting to me, but they would have to open up a whole new queue house and connect it like they did with Maverick at Cedar Point to make it work. If we get that RMC ground up wooden roller coaster in a couple years, it would be really special to a lot of people If the station was re-used a third time. Just a thought everyone.

  6. ^ I'm over Shoot the rapids loss at Cedar Point. Since they removed it, they've cleaned up the area really well. I love how they put frontier fling in it's spot and in 2019 added Forbidden Frontier on the other half of the rides former concrete space.  Since 2015, I've been a huge Rougarou fan at Cedar Point.

I'm thinking a ground up RMC like Twisted Timbers at Kings Dominion, but longer to accommodate 3 trains. Have the back to back loops like Vortex had to pay tribute to Vortex. That's my vote.

^ I said this on page 7, but nobody saw it or skipped over me. I'd be all in for having a topper track model like Outlaw run in the former spot of Vortex. Either way, I want to see RMC pull off an actual loop and have them go back to back to pay tribute to Vortex.

RMC with loops and barrel rolls and using what id consider a cool station could rock..

Are you thinking what I'm thinking? I'm thinking a ground up RMC like Twisted Timbers at Kings Dominion, but longer to accommodate 3 trains. Have the back to back loops like Vortex had to pay tribute to Vortex. That's my vote.

I don’t see them keeping it SBNO. With large cranes already on site, probably cheaper to scrap it now. SBNO just will make it look junky next season. I’ll bet it’s gone in record time.

Well wouldn't those large cranes be used just for Orion? Also I wonder If they'll send all three arrow trains of Vortex to other Cedar Fair properties. I'm still hoping for a B&M floorless someday down the road.

That being said, I think the park should go with a B&M which could be iconic in its own right. If they choose to get a B&M floorless coaster they could easily break a height record. Additionally with a taller height you can also take the speed record as well. Vortex was such an iconic ride that, in my opinion, getting a B&M floorless would be a fitting replacement.

A ride doesn't have to be iconic in the sense that it draws people from around the country or even the world, it just needs to be good enough to be better than the ride it replaced and I think a B&M floorless would do that perfectly.

Thank you SonofBaconator. I would love to see a B&M floorless come into play in that area. And who knows, maybe removing Vortex was part of their 5 year plan; but the announcement of it's demise maybe just falls on year 4. Who knows, maybe we'll start to see land clearing like we did this year for Orion. I'm not too worried about height. Heck, they could make it as tall as Dominator at Kings Dominion and I'd be ok with that. What I would love to see is somewhere along the layout, they have the back to back loops like Vortex has now. Also let those loops show up so well that it looks like Vortex in a way. Plus with the terrain they have from Vortex, they have a lot of possibilities to work with. I also would welcome the first floorless roller coaster to have the vest restraints that Banshee has already.

Am I the only one that reads this as "We are not dismantling Vortex!"  This, to me, seems more like a Mantis situation. Maybe some track improvements, new trains, new name. etc.

Well I don't see them converting Vortex into a Floorless roller coaster, but I know where your going with this. I would be all for a B&M floorless roller coaster to come to Kings Island, but time will tell if that happens or not. My dream fantasy would be to see Vortex removed and put a B&M floorless roller coaster in it's spot. However, I would welcome the idea of maybe they're fixing certain areas of the ride and changing the route a little to make the ride a lot smoother than before. The one area where I sort of snap my neck around is the turn before the mid-course brake run. I can't stand that spot on Vortex.  I was even thinking maybe they could change The Vortex track and layout like they did when they re-did Steel Phantom at Kennywood. However, somebody already shot that idea down as unlikely.
