Coronavirus Impacting Theme Parks
disco2000 replied to Hawaiian Coasters 325's topic in Kings Island
Counties in Ohio are ran by Commissioners, not mayors, and they do not have the legislative power to declare that. Only Ohio cities and the Governor can do that. City of Mason Mayor could declare it, but that would only be within that boundary, not all of Warren County. -

City of Dayton Ohio passed a requirement that masks are needed in public starting tomorrow. Will DeWine make it a requirement in specific counties or the state of Ohio...stay tuned... Mayor of Columbus now added a mask requirement. City of Cincinnati considering a mask requirement. From Press Conference: DeWine leaving to local boards to decide how to proceed Schools should strive to maintain 6 feet separation Staff required to wear mask Recommends 3rd grade and up students wear a mask but not mandatory -

Breaking Now: "Hundreds fail the temperature check as they sat in their cars fuming over not being able to get in past the tolls and then ran to the security checkpoint and elevated their temperatures"

It is easier for KI to keep social distancing compliance with everyone in their vehicles They will have a log jam somewhere - either in-person at screening, security, admissions or in cars at toll booths. Take the lesser of the two evils approach they did. This will work if the tolls can cycle the 10:30 group thru before the 11am group shows up...but we know there are tons of 11am groups already there. Will be interesting to see when the backup gets to a manageable level.

It is always interesting to see other peoples experiences. With the exception of Fury's opening year, every year since, I have always found the Intimidator line longer than Fury. Like I have literally had just about a walk-on for Fury and go over to Intimidator and a decent size queue awaits me. I have waited in a 30 minute Intimidator line and go over to Fury and wait 10 minutes - and for the front seat no-less. I have actually rode Fury more times than Intimidator just because the line hasn't been as long in my visits. It has been comical a few times when I started to enter the Intimidator line and people are leaving the queue saying "This line is too long, let's go ride Fury, it's like this just taller and faster with a shorter line". I think Diamondback has such a good following that I think it will still command decent size lines. And if the Orion line is too long, people will say "let's go ride Diamondback, it is the same ride just not as tall or fast"

Way back in mid-May I did an example as well LOL that I hoped was a way worse case situation that was developed taking into account what the expected measures may have been back at that point in time...glad your worse case is a little over double what mine was LOL. But yeah, it will be extremely slow and I wouldn't be surprised if they cut the line off early well before 7pm... IF they are able to not have to check the skipped rows every train because they are locked down, that would actually speed up the process compared to a slow day now when they would have to check each seat. If they can skip those rows, they may be able to push slightly over 700 per hour through. -
City is removing anything Marge related....so her dogs would probably count as being a no-no. Some Honda's are assembled in Ohio...but they don't make the Fit in Ohio, which ironically that would work with that coaster LOL.

From the website: Why do I or someone in my party need to bring a mobile phone with the Kings Island app downloaded and “Location Services” enabled? Downloading the Kings Island mobile app allows you to store your Season Pass and/or tickets digitally, to enable contactless entry into the park with no paper tickets or plastic cards exchanged. In addition, enabling the Location Services feature allows us to send you real-time updates about social distancing and procedures when you are visiting the park. Sounds like code for they hope to be able to use location services to track groups and monitor social distancing and be able to send staff to areas of non-compliance...

^ Plus they cannot require each person from a group to have the mobile app up and running and then require it locked away in a locker for hours on end... Sounds like Lukestradelmann needs more training... and too many use Reddit as their source of information LOL Glad you questioned the validity of it!

I don't know about WAY better than Ohio's.. Ohio total covid cases - 48,638, deaths 2,788 Indiana total covid cases - 45,269, deaths 2,595 Yea, based on that Indiana "looks" better, but not WAY better...and doesn't tell the full story. Now look at is based on population - Ohio is 11.7 million compared to Indiana at 6.7 million. Ohio has 5 million more persons than Indiana, yet there is less than a 200 person difference in deaths...which state has it worse... Let's see if Indiana is decreasing or increasing in a couple weeks... And some here may claim well Indiana has more older people, but the breakdown by age per state is comparable: Ohio deaths due to covid: Indiana deaths due to covid: -

So same as the announcement comments Comments were not too good for Maverick at CP or Mystic Timbers prior to park opening either.... I think comments will change once people actually ride it.

Something else to consider....although they say no refunds, if the pass wasn't used, sometimes you can make an argument and get a refund or pay a fee to roll it over to the next year. Sometime is the key word - I know a few that have got refunds, but most I know that tried were rejected. A "common theme" seemed to be that once it is used once, then the likelihood of a refund disappears or rolling over to the next year is gone. So if you use it once this year (or were a new pass that bought last year and went then) and the restrictions are still in place for 2021, any chance of a refund will certainly go out the window...but who knows what 2021 will bring... -
