Is there even a way for someone with the meal plan to pay the difference to upgrade to a non meal plan offering? Truthfully Cedar Fair or at least Kings Island should increase the price of the meal plan. I would love if we had more food options to choose from or at least more restaurants having a revolving menu.

WindSeeker by far is the most terrifying ride at Kings Island for me. I can only imagine the ride breaking down and me getting stuck up there, Drop Tower also falls in this category, it’s guilty by association.

I have mixed feelings while riding Screamin’ Swings. The down swing is so much fun. The up swing on the other hand, kinda terrifying not gonna lie.

Worst coaster I have ever ridden was Mean Streak. The best way I can describe the experience would be putting on a jackhammer like a backpack then attempting to sit on concrete while the jackhammer is on. Horrible coaster, thankfully it is no more.

There are so many possibilities with what the park can do in Action Zone. I always hoped that they would rename Invertigo, to Stinger and give it renovated trains with better restraints. Much like what Kentucky Kingdom did to T3.(Formerly T2) Guessing how Kentucky Kingdom ended up selling T3, 7 years after renovation that will probably not happen.

Everything, At the end of the season I plan offering up a sacrifice to the Head. I hope it will bring us good fortune on the next coaster.

My basis of CPI and why I meant it is pretty close to spot on is comparing the coasters in terms of track length. Which roughly equates to steel being used. Intimidator 305: Cost $25 million to build in 2012. If adjusted by CPI it would’ve cost $29.75 Million to build in 2020 (The year Orion was built) its cheaper than Orion with adjusted inflation but it’s also shorter. It’s track length is shorter at 5,100 ft. Orion: Cost $30 Million to build in 2020. Track length: 5,321 ft. 221 ft in track difference cost $275,000 roughly. Obviously there are other factors in price. Having the coaster plant only an hour away from KI probably helps, but I digress.

They WERE competing parks. That is no longer the case since CF bought the park. Paramount was literally in an arms race against CP. Paramount invested more in KI in its tenure than CF has, and CF has had control of KI longer at this point. Also if you were to adjust coaster additions based off inflation Son of Beast would have been the most expensive addition in KI history.

I think what he means by “exceeding” is ride experience. Cedar Fair does not want KI cannibalizing from CP. The reason CP has any draw is because of the ride quality and record breaking rides and coasters. Cedar Fair has too much invested in Hotels in Sandusky, which heavily rely on CP drawling people in. Gone are the days of Paramount which was attempting to make KI a destination park. No more first of their kind rides or coasters, no more multi record breakers. Cedar Fair will only do enough to keep the status quo at KI. Kings Island is the Ohio step child now.

So what you’re saying is we really got shorted. All my argument is, is that based of inflation they should’ve spent more. The inflation rate that I used is pretty spot on. For example Intimidator 305 being the closet resemblance to Orion in terms of ride length and being more heavily themed cost $25 million to build in 2010. It would have cost 29.75 million to build in 2020. and yeah I would’ve been perfectly content with waiting an additional season or two for a better giga coaster. The park literally built a gangster of a coaster in Mystic Timbers, 3 years prior. Oh not to mention but a gold pass to Kings Dominion is cheaper than Carowinds, and Carowinds is cheaper than Kings Island.

Yeah I think we should be entitled to a 33 million dollar coaster like Fury 325 since our KI gold passes cost more than what they cost at Carowinds. 3 million doesn’t seem like much of a difference till you ride Fury 325, then it becomes clear.

That’s because Cedar Fair know’s darn well if they invested in KI the way Paramount did. It would eat away at Cedar Point. Cedar Point literally survives off being a destination park. That’s one of the reasons why all of their coaster additions with the exception of kiddy coasters were or are record breakers. Kings Island on the other hand has a good local base to draw from. The number 1 steel coaster in the world with Fury 325, 4 hours away from the flagship park?? Devastating. Cedar Fair can’t have that. We’ve been the step child ever since Paramount sold us.

Orion built in 2020, cost 30 million to build. Now let’s compare it to the other giga coasters built and adjust their price tags to what they would’ve cost to build in 2020 based off inflation: Millenium Force built in 2000, cost $25 million to build. Would cost $37.5 million to build in 2020. Steel Dragon 2000 built in 2020, cost $52 million to build. It’s expensive price tag is because it was built to withstand earthquakes. Would cost $78 million to build in 2020. Intimidator 305 built in 2010, cost $25 million to build. Would cost $29.75 million to build in 2020. Leviathan built in 2012, cost $28 million to build. Would cost $31.64 million to build in 2020. Fury 325 built in 2015, cost $30 million to build. Would cost $32.7 million to build in 2020.

Here is the additions made by each, with some coasters / rides being removed. I did not include Soak City as apart of the comparison. The most expensive coaster built by Paramount with adjusted inflation was Son of Beast which would’ve cost a whopping $36,285,000 to build in 2023. Cedar Fair who has operated KI for 17 years has made 12 additions, 5 of them being coasters and 7 being rides. The only ride / coaster removed was Firehawk. The most expensive coaster built by Cedar Fair with adjusted inflation would be Orion which would’ve cost $35,400,00 to be built in 2023.

He also mentioned budget and trying to stay within it. That seems to be the trend. We got a poor man’s giga coaster in 2020 with Orion, and now we have a poor man’s Zamperla Endeavor for this season. Wonderful.

Ricochet would be a good name too, but it’s taken. I like this idea tho. The Cartridge factory is very unique to the Kings Mills area. It would fit in at Rivertown with some minor adjustments to The Beast sign, exit and fast pass. I can picture it now: "Warning: Do not enter. Mandatory and ongoing lockdown is in effect for the Miami River Cartridge Company. Repeat, do not enter."

When I visited Carowinds I got ID checked at the gate. It was after 5pm, I didn’t realize I looked 15 years young, being 30 but I’ll take it as a compliment. However there was a sign at KI before the metal detectors yesterday that says: “Under the age of 35, have ID ready.” But I wasn’t carded at all. Not sure what the under the age of 35 is all about but ok.

It’s hit or miss. Sometimes I get charged sometimes I don’t. I’m not sure if the park has clear guidelines for employees on the matter. I’m convinced KI has the largest base of meal plans within the CF chain, and the park is doing stuff to make up for it. Like charge additional for sauce, having cheap meats as the only entree options, and or the portions end up on the smaller side. My experiences were all vastly different between Carowinds, CP, and KD. With CP, and KD having the best food, and Carowinds being the worst.

So far no from what I’ve seen this season.

I’m starting to think that maybe Kings Island GP are the biggest users and abusers of the Season long dining plans. That would explain the small portions and portion control cups. Another thing I’ve noticed is neither of our BBQ restaurants serve brisket. They only have the cheap meats available. ( Chicken and pork. ) Carowinds, CP, and KD all had brisket. Heck Carowinds even had ribs.

Man after riding Intimidator 305 and Fury325 this past weekend. I’ve grown more dissatisfied with Orion.. I know we’re stuck with it for the next 30 years but maybe CF can make up to us by building the worlds first Giga RMC at KI?? We have the land behind Banshee to do it, there is even a station not in use there.

If Phantom Theater ever returns, tho I think it’s doubtful based on the fact it’s in Planet Snoopy. They should gut the entire ride and replace it with something like Darkoaster at BGW. The Coaster would be themed after Peanuts characters for obvious reasons. They can extend the queue line by giving the haunted castle a courtyard, much like BGW’s Darkoaster the centerpiece of the court yard can be a kite eating tree, which plays part of the peanuts theming as well as providing shade to those in line. To finish the trip I stopped at Kings Dominion. And I can attest to those that have spoken positively about the food at KD are 100% right. The portions are plentiful, and the food is very tasty. You will eat every bite on your plate, and you’ll know you shouldn’t because you have rides to ride but the food is just that good. For lunch I stopped at the new Firehouse BBQ ended up getting the brisket with side of street corn and corn bread. (I know corny.) All I can say is that it was excellent, this was my favorite meal for the trip. For dinner I had to see what the buzz was about comparing KI’s G&G vs KD’s G&G and yes, KD’s G&G is so much better. Sirloin pulled out from the warmer and freshly sliced. What a great way to keep a protein moist, tender all while retaining its freshness. It’s a small detail that goes a long way. For the side I got the 3 cheese scalloped potatoes with bread. All in all well done KD!
