Concrete reaches about 70% of its final strength in a week. But it does not even need that much just for people to walk or stand on. Typically you can walk on traditional concrete in 24 hours. In short it will be fine.

Pumps need to get rebuilt from time to time. They are likely the same pumps just taken apart and rebuilt. Each attraction would feature its own set of pumps so that they are independent of each other. It is important to keep attractions separate for maintenance, safety, and just general operations. Invertigo would likely be moved to a smaller park, likely Michigan's Adventure which does not have a boomerang. Invertigo has very low capacity and another copy of the ride was moved from California's Great America to Dorney Park in 2010. -
I am pretty confident that is not a lock-out area.

Same weekend as Coastermania at Cedar Point, and HoliWood Nights at Holiday World. I enjoy food trucks and would like to go but will be spending my time at Cedar Point.

I had a great time. Got a chance to meet a lot of people and for at least a short period of time can put a face to the screen name. I will recognize several people in the future just will never remember the names to go along with it. I rode Diamondback and The Beast more over the weekend then I have been able to all season long so far. I hope people will remember the good instead of the bad. It just feels like last years event was remembered more for how bad the ribs were then anything else. This years event looks like it will be remembered for the ban on snapping. Looking at the good we had tons of ERT, a pretty good meal on Saturday night, a fun scavenger hunt, an interesting talk by Dennis Speigel, access to locations that normal park guests are not allowed, and an opportunity to meet a lot of people who have similar interests. I am a little surprised no one is talking about how good the chicken was. On the other hand the park really needs to work on the check-in process it would not have been as bad if it had not been raining but only having two people to check-in on Friday night was crazy. The line to check-in took an hour. When check-in starts at 6PM and the first event is at 7PM it should be possible to arrive just after 6 and still make it for the first event and yet I did not get my lanyard until 7:15.

Whither Conneaut Lake Park Now?
Kenban replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I will likely be in Cleveland this weekend. My plan is to go over to Conneaut Lake Park and Waldameer Park at some point. But I have to wonder if CLP cannot find $5,500 to pay for insurance how is it expected to open in four days on Saturday? -

The lack of general clearing could also be due to the work for White Water Canyon the park cannot get heavy equipment into the site yet. At this point the earliest they could try is a week after the concrete is poured to allow it time to cure, it would not be at full strength after a week but it should be good enough. It would be tough trying to get access from the other side due to the slope and the train tracks. The other easy way into the site is down the midway and through the wood fence. -
I will say that there was some debate about this last night. Some people had been told it had to do with a concern about the tubs striking the center. I have also heard it is not chain wide and that it may only be in effect this weekend. Not even sure if the decision was from corporate or was made at the park level. It seems strange for this change to occur in the middle of the afternoon on a weekend if it is from corporate. If it is true that it is purely about the flyers striking the center. The easiest way for this to occur is if the ride is e-stopped. I am not aware of this occurring recently. During normal operations the centrifugal force will make it more difficult to get enough inward speed.

Decoding Episode II: Rivertown 2017 and the Falling Trees
Kenban replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
I am at the park for Coasterstock. I do think the watch for falling trees listed under 2017 on the timeline of major attractions during the presentation by Dennis Speigel interesting. I do not remember any flat rides in the list like the addition would be very major. I have ridden the train and there are more stakes in the same areas as before, some are marked edge of clearing. The slope between the train and White Water Canyon pond is totally clear. There is a set of white stakes near the train shed. Next to this is a hole several inches in diameter. Possibly a core sample? This hole was not there two weeks ago. Waiting for ERT tonight to ride Diamondback so will not be able to see any clearing by the hammerhead. It is hard to tell if any work is being done in this area from the train or tower. -

It feels too early for track. The park would not need it until August. But who knows at this point. -
Cedar Point 2016 Talk
Kenban replied to Bansheeback's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
King's Island does get a lot more local guests. It is very likely that more people go after work or school then at Cedar Point. -
Six Flags Great Adventure Lawsuit

I can't say I am surprised but the only way to prevent this is to not allow people to carry anything onto the ride. This is what Universal Studios Florida has been doing. They have metal detectors at the entrances to the roller coasters and employees who if they think you still have something which did not set off the metal detectors will force you to empty your pockets before you are even allowed in the line. The good news is that the park provides free lockers. The parks also only have three coasters this occurs on, Dragon Challenge, Rip Ride Rockit, and Hulk. -
I will likely buy the one for The Beast this weekend but I doubt I will pickup the other two.
-
This year? Nothing lasts forever. But I do not believe that it is scheduled for removal currently.
-
Random guess, the models from Coaster Dynamics have come in?
-
I decided to pickup an annual pass at most I will likely only visit twice but with the free parking it makes the most sense to me. I went once last year and the only reason I am even planning on visiting this year is Storm Chaser. RMC has been doing some fantastic work and Storm Chaser looks good from what I have seen so far.

I remember seeing an interview with a hair transplant specialist. Turns out it is his hair just not originally from his head.

I think they would just call it the tallest chain lift coaster, or tallest coaster without a launch. -
His work email address is listed on the Kings Island website. The Coasterstock email came from that address.
-
I think emailing Don directly would be your best bet. I am not certain how much information Customer Service would have about the event. Worst case he can forward your email to someone who can help. You can find his email address on Kings Islands website.

I totally agree. The cashier should come first, then go pickup your food at a counter. In some cases it makes sense to pickup your food first but only locations like Hanks where it is custom. Run the food service more like what it really is, fast food. Most of the food locations are not a cafeteria why should it be setup like one.

It is rare to catch a coaster valley on video. Typically it is not being filmed until after it is already stuck. I assume the employees had a pretty good idea it was going to happen. -
Train status monitor on Fury
Kenban replied to jbum123's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Personally I have always preferred lights on the side of the seats. When someone is checking seats they instantly know without having to look at a monitor. The best thing a park can do to speed up dispatch is not let riders walk through to put items in the bins. Have people hand loose items off to employees who take care of them. The no loose articles policy on Banshee is in my opinion the reason it dispatches so much faster then Diamondback. When I was at the park on Sunday the employees were grabbing loose items on Diamondback and I think I only saw them stack once. One train I was on was just getting to the top of the hill as the train in front was hitting the brakes. -

There are several rides with worse downtime then TTD. Kingda Ka has some pretty bad downtime but considering it is mostly a taller and faster version of TTD that should not come as a surprise, even worse the ride shakes like crazy, it is just amazing how rough it is compared to TTD. Superman: Escape from Krypton not only has horrible downtime, even when it works the number of riders an hour is just terrible. The ride with possibly the worst downtime I have ever seen is X2 at Magic Mountain, I have been to the park several times and still never seen the ride even running let alone having a chance to ride it. Out of the four rides listed above, three are made by Intamin and all three are the only coasters over 400 ft tall. TTD is the only ride on this list not at a Six Flags park. I also suspect I am missing some rides, Rip, Ride, Rockit, comes to mind but Universal did finally fix it and now the ride runs pretty smoothly.
