I start facing my fears of new social situations and consider attending a knitting group meeting to get out of the house because I'm getting a little stir crazy.

Is it possible they already have a number of staff from last year signed on to come back this year? Since last year was the first, everyone had to be hired new. Maybe this year they just have 20% of their work force pre-arranged out of last season's employees. -
That's great! I definitely don't have a turntable, or I probably would have bought the LP of Celebration! from KI's long-running show that was on eBay last month. Although I guess it shouldn't stop me, I own a Daekor Pot-Bellies* record I've never heard, and have no idea what it sounds like. *the stuffed bears and other animals that were ubiquitous in the 80s that everyone else seems to have forgotten. I wanted to start a fan site for them like a decade ago but just never quite got it together. I own a lot of them, and a little bit of the accessories. That's my first one, who went through my hospital stay with me when I had open heart surgery when I was four. In the picture, he's assisting me while I do "surgery" on a doll, learning what they were going to do to me. He still sleeps in my bed every night over thirty years later.

Every time there's a new post in this thread, I momentarily think "woo-hoo! They announced it!" Every. Dadgummed. Time.

I can think of a few people who might like to have this tape of Kings Island's Wurlitzer Band Organ. http://m.ebay.com/itm/111572807916?nav=SEARCH I'm very tempted myself except I'm not sure I have something that will play tapes anymore. I have an old boom box but I believe its tape playing days are over.

Considering I'm a morning person (so stayed long enough for fireworks a grand total of twice out of 30-40 visits last summer), and have been spoiled by excellent fireworks shows elsewhere anyway, I certainly would be willing to give them up. I'm sure that is by no means a popular sentiment, and wouldn't choose for everyone else to have to forego them, though. I guess you're right about concert tickets. I wonder how much of that actually goes to the performers, and how much of it is Ticketmaster and the venues gouging people.

I wonder if they mean the print one or the interactive ones. I originally interpreted it as print, but reading it here it occurred to me they might mean their new technology in-park.

Cedar Point dive coaster?
Magenta Lizard replied to APE's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It's been too long since I've been up there, but what is the possibility of "the sky is falling" comment on that article (that says several of the family-friendly rides* will be removed for the new coaster) actually being true? I don't think all of those are in the area of Good Times, but like I said, it's been awhile. *"Turnpike Cars, Cadillac Cars, Dodgem, and Calypso" - I corrected the capitalization. I need to go check Cedar Fair trademarks now Edit: nothing recent. Have they used Centurion yet? -
If it were a special event, like one or two performances with their own separate entrance fee, I don't think their prices would be beyond KI. Me, I'd go see either of them. I have been a fan of Alice Cooper ever since he appeared on The Muppet Show (or from the time I saw the episode, I think I was still a baby when he was on), and I've liked Weird Al since middle school.

Maybe that passholder special preview they talked about?

It says in the listing they bought them from the park. Since they all were just relisted yesterday, the Son of Beast sign, the Delirium model and the Face/Off model all seem to be listed by the same person. A person I am very jealous of

Baubo, after the goddess of laughter. Because that final inversion I dub the "giggle roll" so often has made me and others around me laugh.

Christmas may be over for this winter, but this would be a neat toy for the mechanically minded coaster enthusiast in your life. And it's on sale for the moment at only $10. http://www.sciplus.com/p/roller-coaster-kit_51813?trk_msg=do6r9fm1o854h4li8is1r62huo&trk_contact=87ja0av6646jpcjk6q991efpa8 I know I want one

I've definitely been looking forward to Coaster Stock. I am still trying to decide what club membership to buy since my 2-year membership to Coaster Crew I bought for last summer's Banshee Bash event didn't cost enough for the park to consider valid this year :/ I haven't decided whether to upgrade to CC Platinum or to try out GOCC this time.

Hunt's was always my favorite when I was growing up. Somewhere along the line they changed their recipe to taste more like Heinz. It must have been more successful than New Coke, because they didn't switch back. I don't really care all that much between the different brands now except that McDonalds has my favorite. If they sold that in bottles in stores, I'd buy it all the time. I always have to remember to ask for packets when I get fries, because it just isn't the same with other brands. My husband has a bit of a thing for ketchup and yellow mustard (he often chooses meals based around whether he can use them), so I defer to him on what kinds we buy. His favorites the past few years are Simply Heinz (which uses sugar rather than corn syrup) and Heinz mustard (which he has to buy online at the moment).

Rumor: Gwazi to close in February
Magenta Lizard replied to Oldiesmann's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Don't forget giant flying cockroaches (aka palmetto bugs), seasalt and sand rubbed into sunburn, and soul-crushing humidity. Yeah, I'm not a fan of Florida. I'm still aching to get down there to the parks tho. -
A bridge definitely wouldn't shave five minutes off for me. I discovered this summer that at a brisk walking pace, I can get from The Beast to Kings Island Theater (or pretty much any two locations in the dry park, if not hampered by other foot traffic) in five minutes. I didn't really start feeling the need for a bridge/walkway/tunnel until I attended Haunt. There were the tombstones and scareactors impeding traffic along Int'l St. and at times Blood Drums and their crowd on one end and all the front gate activity at the other.

When we were at the 2015 improvements announcement, and he started to say "you won't even recognize International Street" I immediately thought "yes, they'll be doing fountain improvements," but then he went on about the new Starbucks, etc. I'll still dream of a day with a bridge or walkway halfway through the fountains.

I'm not certain the "we've been informed we might get sued for false advertisement, so here's your durned discount" method is really an effective "something different." Really, they couldn't have spun the extension as something magnanimous, they actually went with blaming the billboard company for forcing them to do it? Yes, it's better PR than a lot of what they've done so far, but it's not exactly good. -
This wasn't specifically KI, but some undefined theme park. They had built a new wooden coaster and I was excited to ride it, but it turned out being pretty awful. Uncomfortably forceful. Then, I met Terpy, or I thought I did, maybe. I was with a group of KIC people, and I thought I recognized him from his picture, so I asked him. He replied in a way that sounded like an affirmation, but what he said could also be interpreted as a denial. Then he left before I could ask anything further.

Wendy's: A Most Insightful Video
Magenta Lizard replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Great, now I want Kewpee's. Too bad it is about a two hour drive up to Lima. My husband and I were making a day trip up near Toledo a few times a year there for awhile, and we'd stop at Kewpee's on our way up AND our way back. I'm typically not that into burgers, but it is definitely worth the stop. -
The last 1980 Kings Island home video I can make.

I've loved watching your videos so much! I spent so much time at KI as a kid, but I have a crappy memory and almost no documentation of it. Your videos have let me step back there for a little while.
