  1. Also they said MT made 5 wooden coasters....

    Beast

    Woodstock Express

    Racer.....

Adam House (the GCI designer) said that MT was the 5th wooden, not Don or Greg. So I think we should mark that statement as an unofficial count and leave it at that.

Officially, KI counts Racer as one and does count SurfDog as one.

When ride wait times scroll on the FunTV, you will notice that they will list the wait time for racer S as well as the wait time for racer N.. (Which are always the same but help indicate of both are running that day).

Based on this, I'd say the park considers them as two coasters.

  2. Isn't this thread supposed to be about Kings Island? Or are we listing the wait times for everything here now. If that's the case then the current wait time to check out at the Kroger by my house is 4 minutes.

  3. I live just across the little Miami river... In fact I can see my house from the high lift hills and attractions.

    It's a different magic.

It's magic when you know it just rained and the park will be empty, so you head over to do walk ons. Or going so often that you feel like you know the actors in the shows, and will head over on certain days to see certain shows because you've memorized the schedule. Or not wanting to cook dinner, so you go to use your season dining plan.

It's not really magic, but I know what my family loves and we have fun doing it. It can be a nice treat for the kids to sit on our front lawn and stay up for the fireworks.

It's magic, but a different kind.

  4. Frankly I think it's odd that buses get such "prime" parking. Buses should drop people off by the handicap lot drop off and then bus and RV parking should be I the very back of the lot where there are always spots. Furthermore, this time of year there are hardly any buses... It's ridiculous to keep that area "open" for buses... During the final days of the school year I would understand handing out "tickets", but to do it today just seems like the wrong fight to pick.

  5. It's amazing, no matter how often I've been to KI (over 30 times so far this season) and no matter how much I look around, there are still things that take me by surprise. I've ridden Vortex more times this summer than ever before, but last time I rode I suddenly noticed this on the ground below the queue, for the first time. It's those little touches that are so fun!

  6. Agree, I saw that one... But it was on the ramp up to the station... Seemed like I'd they really want wait times for purposes of crowd sourcing, they would post these after the ride, on the exit side.

  7. I saw these signs on multiple lines, but it was a day that I also took a survey when I excited the park that was all about FunTV. I'm guessing these scanners in line were actually a way to get you into the survey to ask you about funtv. Especially since I only saw the sign in the middle of cues... But not actually in the station (where total wait time would actually be more accurate)

  8. We bring our own water bottles all the time. We usually bring them with our own water and ice. Some are clear, others are not. We have never had an issue. In general, if we ask for a concession stand to refill our bottle, they will only do so if the part of the bottle that contacts your mouth can be separated and stays with you... The link you provided had that. If I bring just a nalgene or other bottle where I drink straight from the rim, then they shouldn't be handling that. In those cases you can get kinzel cups and refill yourself.

  9. Metal detector / bag inspections today. Worst part of it is have to get through this line to get to the bathroom :-(

Already though, seems to be going much smoother/faster than our May visit.

Now that there are permanent structures to shade the security guards at the main entrance and Soak City I've seen them doing checks every single visit.

I don't think they are random anymore... I think this is the new normal.

Personally I believe the wait is worth the security... Both to myself as well as to the public relations of the park to prevent an incident from happening in their park.

I'm frankly surprised by how offended people are by this process. I can assure I have never waited as long in this line as my shortest wait at CVG airport security.

  10. The shows. Origins is fantastic... the dog show has some good moments... Off the charts is a great show... Fireworks at closing. I don't care much for the peanuts show or any of the festhaus shows.

Dinosaurs Alive is a decent time killer too.

  11. As a local I've been many times in thunder storms... It's pretty rare that everything closes down. Soak City will close... And the rides listed above... But the park itself still runs. They will do things like rub less trains so that you don't have to sit out in the rain at the brake station as long. If rides are closed it's posted on the entrance ticket booth... So technically you get a heads up before you scan your ticket in.

  12. Dodgem closes at chance of rain due to the slippery floor. Flying ace closes pretty easily in inclement weather.
