It's a bit of an open secret. You wouldn't be the first person to buy a Canada's Wonderland Platinum Pass. Prices listed are in CAD, but keep in mind that a US credit/debit card will be hit with whatever your Foreign Transaction Fee is (generally 0-3%). Taxes are higher there, but there's also the exchange rate...
Once you also add in the platinum dining; this seems like a great deal to order my pass through Canada wonderland.
Does anyone know someone who actually does this? Other than some random pass perks; what else could I be missing/messing up from switching to Canada wonderland?
If I were to switch from Kings Island, is that considered a new pass? Or would it still be considered a renewal since I’m in the Cedar Fair system?

With pass prices being released this week; here’s a comparison of all the Cedar Fair parks.
It’s crazy that Cedar Point (the flagship of the brand) gold pass is only $99! If someone locally really only wants to go to KI and CP; buying gold at each park would actually be cheaper than buying a platinum pass!
Knotts gold pass seems REALLY high. I get that everything costs more in Southern California. But I wonder if this is an attempt to really try to curb the issues with teens they have had.
Listed high to low. Prices for new 2023 gold passes as of today. Price in parentheses is the renewal price.
Knotts: $170 (160)
Kings Island: 130 (124)
Carowinds: 120 (115)
Kings dominion: 104 (99)
Dorney 104 (104)
Canada: 104 (99) Canadian … this is $78 USD.
Cedar Point : 99 (99)
Cali GA: 95 (89)
Worlds: 94 (94)
Michigan: 89 *no extended seasons
Valley: 85 (85)
Has anyone ever bought a pass with Canadas wonderland as your home park? I assume the prices online are all Canadian dollars. So does that mean a platinum pass bought for CW would actually only be ~

And yet, this year, they brought in a summer-only pass at the $99 price point, raising Gold. Now, they're back to giving away Gold at $99.
Exactly. I don’t understand why they would keep CP gold at $99 when KI gold is $130.

chuck norris, did they replace the meal and if not, did you go to Guest Services?
To be fair, I believe they would have. But we got the burger for my son, and walked it to the fest haus to eat. The inside was cold/icy… so it would have been very easy to take it back… but we were fast enough away and I wasn’t going to use my meal anyway, so I just got my son food with my dining plan.

I tried to get a beast burger w.o lettuce and tomato and a zodiac burrito with no shrimp (for a veggie to try) and they were like very adament and hard "no's" but I don't understand why? Especially since both places these items are at are very customizable with their menu usually. Instead it just adds to food waste because people will just order the items and immediately trash what they didn't want. It just seems a little strange to not even allow someone to not have lettuce on a burger.
My understanding is that they want these items to “look” like the pictures. Although that doesn’t explain why the screaming demon wings usually don’t come with green onions on top.
The zodiac burrito makes sense, as those are premade and they don’t hit even have the ingredients used for it on the line.
The Beast burger doesn’t really make sense, as they make them to order. But I was not allowed to get mine without cheese.

Under the current system? For park goers like myself not much. I check my personal "fun" email once every week-two weeks tops. I'm sure there are families of 4 who will use the above promotion for a day out on the park but the perks "system" doesn't really feel like a system, rather an automated distribution of bogo deals. Unless if there is some point system that requires x amount of visits by all passholders I don't see the vitality in the program until they can actually give better deals.
Show me benchmarks, give me "points" for doing activities at the park, show me what I can get for coming to the park x many days per season. Heck, make it a rotating program to which you have a main season (APR-SEPT), Haunt season (SEPT-OCT), and a Winterfest season (NOV-DEC). I would not be bothered to be told okay you get a 10% off after your 50th day visit at the park, 25% off after your 100th, etc. Tours, food experiences, discounts, access to special park events that have an upcharge (for my current and former KI employees think ride nights, get a region in the park to ride till a certain time of night). I just don't want to see a system like this go to waste.
Totally agree.
Seems like it needs to be directly tied to visits or check ins or even in park spending, with a clear point system.
Otherwise it’s just a random thing that I’ll rarely use.

Got the zodiac burrito today.
The concept works… rice has decent teriyaki flavor. But I’d probably want more stir fried veggies or something in it, as it has a mush texture.
The inclusion of chips and one side (Like guac) was nice. Glad I tried it. Would not get again.
Maybe I’ll do the mole meat balls next.

So are you saying it should have came with a wing hanging off the plate too LOL?
Should it have been served on a gold tray versus a basket with paper wrapping in it?
Not that it makes it right, but this has been going on for YEARS in the food industry...

And has even resulted in lawsuits....

Even in these examples, the actual item at least includes all of the ingredients shown in the photo.

Photo of screamin demon at chicken shack.
Photo of wings received.
Me: I thought these had green onions on them.
Employee: they don’t
Me: that sign looks like they do?
Employee: they don’t
The wings were good… sauce had some heat but wasn’t overpowering. Nice change from normal.
Not sure where the coconut was (didn’t taste it in the sauce) and don’t understand why product photo ingredients wouldn’t match the actual item… but I’d get it again.

Please note that this is no guarantee of preventative measures against cross contamination. If you are gluten free for fun then this is a good solution. If you have a diagnosed medical condition then it’s worth asking questions.
Please note that the above statement is not a referendum on KI’s gluten free options. This is true for nearly every restaurant.
Precisely why I’d like to see more allergy information made available at the park.

I don’t really understand why the Bring a friend discount is only available online (and thus requires a $6 service fee to purchase).
Seems like a money grab and that they should totally be able to sell these tickets at the gate to pass holders.

I’ve seen these signs at both smokehouses and Planet Snoopy grill.
I appreciate that they are offering gf buns, although I wish they would update the menu boards at these locations to indicate which meat options are gluten free to put on the bun.
(At one point smokehouse had allergen info on the signs… but they removed those)

We’ve only seen the “shortened show due to heat”… which was 10 minutes.
Is there “normal show” actually 25 minutes as the app suggests?

Not sure if they have a plan for moving people to the refillable, but I imagine that they are told to upsell (Oh, you’re buying an $8 drink? For $30 you can drink all season!) but perhaps that not widely understood, especially when it would make little sense to upgrade from paper cups to refillable unless you have a specific situation. At Cedar Point and KD it’s far worse. Some kid who often doesn’t speak English as a first language trying to sell you a drink plan you already have. Meanwhile there are 10 people in line behind you.
The sentiment is good, but many are fishing from the wrong pond.
This.
It does appear to be blanket push across the board. Perhaps with teens or international workers it’s just easier to ask them to push it to everyone.

Also, I noticed they started offering to "upgrade" my drink plan to a bottle most of the time I use it. Perhaps trying to relieve their cup shortage issue?
This isn’t just for you with a cup plan. I don’t have a drink plan and I get asked every meal of I want to add drink plan. I think they are just really pushing associates to ask/offer the drink plan.

I agree that Jukebox fries are the best. I wish they were an option at the Brewhouse. I’d kill for a Pub Burger, but the thought of the tater tots makes me nauseous by this point in the season. I guess we can’t ask for diversity in the food if we complain about a location having a unique item!
Potato works fries are pretty legit.

Secret food 50th anniversary item
The Bat isn’t listed on the original list of special items. 3 meat balls bowl with mole sauce.
I didn’t try it as I couldn’t see the meatballs or the sauce.

Sounds like this will be an unpopular opinion (based on the reviews above), but I didn’t care for the show.
The opening usher was fun, and the opening trapeze act got our hopes up that it was going to be like past entertaining cirque shows.
But it went downhill quickly from there for my family.
Note: I had two boys; aged 10 & 12. And we didn’t ever ride enchanted theater while it was open. But I think a lot of visitors to the park might be in a similar place.
So we have no sentimental ties to the original ride.
Main complaints were that it was a musical. There are plenty of other shows around the park for those looking for a song and dance production. Ie the main stage by the fountains or the shows in festhaus. The KI theater has been about fun acts of entertainment. We have enjoyed the past shows of jugglers, acrobats, magicians, etc.
In addition to a lot of song/dance (and only 1 non song/dance “act”) it was often difficult to hear all of the parts.
We went. But unlike past shows that we’d see multiple times a summer (often multiple times a week), I’d be surprised if we watch it again.
Hopefully with the 50th anniversary, lots of nostalgic people are flooding the park; and the show will be a hit for them. But for my family, we just weren’t entertained.

Carne Asada fries at potato works.
(Without nacho cheese)
Great option.
Great, thick fries.
Fresh Guacamole, pico, and steak.
Wouldn’t have said no to more steak and pico… but I’d get it again!
