  1. Heard yesterday while in the park about a new app that you can download to “sync” your phone to the fireworks/light show at 10pm.

I left the park prior to 10pm, so I didn’t check it out. Has anyone done it yet? What exactly does the app do?

Ps. This is a different app than the normal KI app. 8f00b8923499f0ff393ca53d9a2dbe20.jpg

  2. The Beast opened in 1979 last time I checked and since the park opened in 1972 I can't figure out what 45th anniversary you are referring to? The Beast was celebrating 40 years in 2019 when they brought the foot prints back.

Guess it was the 40th one then… since obviously I was referring to when they placed the footprints.

  3. Didn't they just put the prints in though? I honestly think they should keep the prints that are on the brick part that leads to the ride.

They added the footprints 2 years ago as part of the 45th anniversary celebration.
I think it’s fine that they removed them, as they either needed to repaint them or remove them.

The ones on the pavers are in better shape… although they don’t look like they were repainted. So I guess we’ll see if they remove those eventually or how long they last on the pavers.

I think it’s a nice theming element… but I also respect the park knowing when the upkeep isn’t worth it and removing them.

I was just observing and sharing that I noticed the change today. This is that the paver prints look like today. 1dd7fc6cc660817d4ac00989bb3b803d.jpg

  4. Popped in for a quick lunch.
French quarter wasn’t open at 11… again.
This is what the app needs. Accurate dining open/closed times… and the ability for the park to update these times as needed based on staffing.

I understand staffing is rough, so I’m not upset… but it’s the communication that gets me. This place often opens late… maybe they could get a sign to put in the window that says “opening at 11:30 today”… like sweet shop does when they open late.

I ended up at brewhouse. Which was great. Although I was surprised to see 6 employees standing around and hearing the staff say they are overstaffed. 5363e280c893f3ba98361bdb7217b9af.jpg

  5. Walking into the park today (first time in about a week) the announcements have been updated and end with
“For the safety of guests and employees, disruptive behavior will not be tolerated and will result in ejection from the park”

  6. Anyone know if there’s going to be an attempt at the chefs plate this evening? Not seen anything about it yet.

I attended it the last two weeks, when it was canceled. On Twitter they said today that it was on. Of course I’m out of town this week, so go enjoy it for me!

  7. I know it's not probable but I would love to see trams in the parking lot come back.  Granted, it takes away value for preferred parking, but it would help with less pedestrians in the parking lot and also provide supervision of the parking lot as well as the drop off area.
I would think that a company would be interested in providing a discount/paying for electric trams that could be used.  It may mean more employees, but right now it seems you need security guards out at the "parent drop-off (terrible name:))" area either way.  It would also be a nice nod back to the opening of KI.
As a bonus they could use ones without as many cars to transport people to and from Great Wolf Lodge and Camp Cedar.
    Just my 2 cents.

I hardly think that a tram driver is going to do anything to stop fighting teens. Not to mention that they are already struggling to get staffing (as you said), plus the cost of trams doesn’t seem like it would pay out.

Furthermore camp cedar is not adjacent… so the trams would have to be fully licensed/street legal vehicles to go there and back (ie seat belts for all).

The way you see this “fighting at the pick up lot after the park closes”. I’m not really sure how much of it is KIs problem. They close and tell people to leave… then people leave and fight. If this was your house and this occurred, you’d do exactly what KI is doing. You’d call the police to deal with it.

I think a solution could be to have the bus schedule adjusted earlier and/or close the “drop off area” after dark (and forced parents and buses to pick up their kids sooner, before it is dark)… although inevitably some parents will still roll up late.

  8. They probably thought they were safer locked in their friends car than getting lost on a roller coaster. Can't say I haven't seen my family do it.

From the article, it never specially says the keys were LOCKED in the other car.
They were taken from the other car, but I’m wondering if that other car was just unlocked?

It doesn’t justify the theft, but it does make more sense on how a car could have been “broken into” in the preferred lot.

  9. Ended up wondering into Jukebox Diner last night to just look at the menu and glad I did.  Not only do they have a monthly special (Turkey Ruben currently) but I noticed a patty melt on the menu I had never noticed before.  Since it was on the meal plan I got it and it was fantastic!  I used to get LaRosa's pizza, Skyline or Panda Express about 4-3 years ago but recently I've been looking exclusively at items I can only get at KI and have not been disappointed.
I think KI should do more to point out the new menu items available every year as well as maybe a blog post on the "monthly specials".  For example, the dip at Brewhouse, Special at Jukebox diner, etc.  Chef Major has really upped the game and I'm eagerly looking forward to the first chef's plate of the year.

Looks like KI is watching these threads…. As they just put out a feature on Twitter about the offerings at Juke box

  10. Hey, just a heads up for any French Corner fans.  If you are there on a slow day, like yesterday, make sure to eat lunch there if you want to eat there.  We walked by around 3 to grab a snack and they were closed.

Likewise, I went at 11 Tuesday and they were not open yet. Left the park around noon and they were still closed… so it seems like that might be one of the first places to close if staffing gets tight.

  11. How is the wording confusing?

In my opinion if it’s canceled. They just should have said “due to weather, the chef plate is canceled today”

Instead they said, “due to weather, it won’t be served at wishbone grill”…. Which seems to imply that maybe they are going to move the location to somewhere that won’t be impacted by weather.

  12. Disappointed.
Went today, rain and all, specially for the chefs plate.

I knew about it from their advertisements on Facebook, specially from chef majors Facebook page. Apparently they put a notice out on Twitter that it was canceled, but I only checked Facebook so I didn’t see that.

Wish they would have made more of an effort to let people know it was canceled (or at least an equal effort to what they did to promote that it was going to start today)

  13. I always avoid confronting another guest if they engage in something like line jumping.   I try to contact staff, preferably security,  and let them handle the issue.   This not only keeps you safe but possibly the situation from escalating.

Well now you can just snap a photo and text it to security directly.

  14. What about large groups stopping to watch a performance by the entertainment department?
I guess smoking in the park and in queues and phones out on rides are not ejectable offenses since it wasn't on the list...

Right. Like the new area 72 dance/DJ Event that is planned for 8pm (on nights they stay open until 10pm)… that’s literally an event that is designed to completely block the midway.

(Area looks like it is going to be really tight… and likely attract the age of kids that are linked to the events of last weekend?… could be a real recipe for disaster)

  15. I tried the chicken salad croissant from French quarter. Tasty. Felt like a healthy option. Not nearly as filling as a mound of food like from panda.. but left me satisfied and feeling good.

Surprised it was served as just chicken salad on croissant… no lettuce or tomato… perhaps I’m supposed to request these things?

  16. If it's looking noticeably understaffed, it makes wonder how much staff they lost after last weekend. Have to think some walked away after personal experience, word of mouth from other employees or following the significant news coverage.

Or it’s a Friday, so the people who have worked previous weekends may not have been available to work a weekday.
