  1. Disappointed.
Went today, rain and all, specially for the chefs plate.

I knew about it from their advertisements on Facebook, specially from chef majors Facebook page. Apparently they put a notice out on Twitter that it was canceled, but I only checked Facebook so I didn’t see that.

Wish they would have made more of an effort to let people know it was canceled (or at least an equal effort to what they did to promote that it was going to start today)

  2. I always avoid confronting another guest if they engage in something like line jumping.   I try to contact staff, preferably security,  and let them handle the issue.   This not only keeps you safe but possibly the situation from escalating.

Well now you can just snap a photo and text it to security directly.

  3. What about large groups stopping to watch a performance by the entertainment department?
I guess smoking in the park and in queues and phones out on rides are not ejectable offenses since it wasn't on the list...

Right. Like the new area 72 dance/DJ Event that is planned for 8pm (on nights they stay open until 10pm)… that’s literally an event that is designed to completely block the midway.

(Area looks like it is going to be really tight… and likely attract the age of kids that are linked to the events of last weekend?… could be a real recipe for disaster)

  4. I tried the chicken salad croissant from French quarter. Tasty. Felt like a healthy option. Not nearly as filling as a mound of food like from panda.. but left me satisfied and feeling good.

Surprised it was served as just chicken salad on croissant… no lettuce or tomato… perhaps I’m supposed to request these things?

  5. If it's looking noticeably understaffed, it makes wonder how much staff they lost after last weekend. Have to think some walked away after personal experience, word of mouth from other employees or following the significant news coverage.

Or it’s a Friday, so the people who have worked previous weekends may not have been available to work a weekday.

  6. If I was a local I would be hesitant to support a chaperone policy too quickly---I'm sure many that live around the park have kids that behave 100% of the time or at least such that no one would notice. I have the utmost faith that KI will figure this out one way or another though. In very general terms they need to send a message to those that might be inclined to cause trouble that KI is not the place to do it. It won't be tolerated, so let's not go there---let's go somewhere else to cause trouble, it's no fun to do it there.

I am a local… the chaperone policy from KK only impacts kids 15 and under. That seems totally reasonable and has no impact on kids 16 and over.

  7. Park is filling quickly. I’m heading out for the day, but the “front” portion of the parking lot (closest to the parking entrance) is basically full and there’s still plenty of cars rolling in.

  8. I live very close to the park.
I realize the park hit capacity and entrants were not allowed in after about 5pm… but many locals are stating that the park did fireworks at 930 tonight and started moving guests out early due to fights breaking out through the park. Possibly gang related

    Anyone there tonight to confirm?

  9. Park was dead today.
    Food service was great!
Got pizza slices at fest haus LaRosa... no line, in and out quick.
Noted signage posted about “online pre ordering being available soon”.
    Panda had no line.
Went over to coney bbq smoke house, also no line.
Sirloin looked similar to the tri tip...
pro was that it also included some vegetables (mini peppers & onions)
Cons, when I ordered it, it only included 4 slices of meat... each one was about 1.5” in diameter as its largest point. So like 4 “silver dollar” slices.
I ended up adding to switch to a pulled pork sandwich, as I didn’t think I’d be satisfied with such a small beef portion.
Interested to see what that portion actually is supposed to be, as the meal has potential.

  10. We also know how well they do enforcing the rules anyway.

    Exactly.
Since they weren’t able to enforce the specific smoking areas, (and guests didn’t all seem to understand that they needed to only smoke in those areas) it makes sense to me that they would make it clearer for everyone by just making smoking banned within the park.

For example there were almost always people smoking in front of no smoking signs of the fest haus.

  11. If the Chef’s Plate continues to be this popular, I could very well see it moving to a new location next year if they choose to continue with it (which I really hope they do). Right now, it is cool where it is because guests entering the park can see the chefs grilling everything in front of them, but it really creates a lot of congestion on that side of International Street. The Wishbone Grill wasn’t really meant to handle this many people.

If they wrapped the line the other way, to the fest haus, that could help... but honestly it’s only an issue for 30 minutes... so whatever

  12. All the trucks were in the parking lot!
I think the decor on I-Street is pretty darn similar to last year. Plus, let’s not forget that the event is a few weeks away so this likely isn’t the final product. The new stages look pretty cool though.

When were the trucks in the parking lot??

Is this whole thread a typo??
When is (was) a food truck event this year???

  13. My son wanted Hanks.
So I went with him. It actually looked good, and we were there. So I tried it again.

The rice wasn’t crunchy!!! It was a really good option. Only real improvement/suggestion would be to offer fresh diced jalapeños... as there isn’t much spice ... and the canned jalapeños offered aren’t very appetizing.

But overall, this was a great experience... so I retract my previous disappointment.
