Colonel_SoB_fan
I have heard from a good friend who says she has heard that Cedar Fair will be removing Boomerang Bay for new rides and rollercoasters. Does anyone know anything about this or anyone else hear this yet? NOTE: THIS IS A RUMOR MAY NOT BE TRUE.
clbehymer
I have not heard anything about this. Of course, most if not all of the "rumors" that I hear about KI are on this site. I think that it would be a ridiculous thing to do.

jzarley
Water parks are huge attendance draws, their attractions are considerably less expensive than coasters or similar thrill rides, and they extend the average visit time in the park. (And, there's a direct correlation between the amount of time a guest spends in the park and the per-capita money spent...) I'd like to think that CF and its management wouldn't be capable of that kind of a stupid business decision... Plus, why remove BB to put in a few new coasters? There's still quite a bit of land yet to be developed at KI, and despite everything else, CF are masters at land use.
Ki Man
If anything, I'd expect to get some speed slides back or some more double person tube rides. We only have like...two or three good rides in the water park. IMO it's the funnel one, Coolengata Racer, and Bondi. Thunder kills your back with fiber glass, and the rest are all just....myeh. We've got the room to expand. We don't have anything new or origional. Alot of parks out there have the new "Tornado" ride, the racing mat ride, body slide, tube ride, and the enclosed slides. We need something new...give a call to Pro Slides, they know what to do
Beast1979
1. I love the Dark Blue Twisting One. Aussome Aussie Twister? 2. Boomerang Bay is huge, and draws a lot of attendence in. 3. They are NOT going to remove it because they are expanding the one at Carowinds 4. Boomerang Bay is There Response to The Beach (water park across the highway)! westcoaster
It will be here for years!!! Waterparks are the rage right now. As for new slides I think we'll see another wave pool first, and a family attraction.
DiSab
I can't see this happening for a long time yet. Maybe removing some of the older, worn-out slides for some new ones, but removing the entire thing? I just don't see that happening.
Beast1979
removing some of the older, worn-out slides Down Under Thunder...Down Under Thunder...Down Under Thunder! I really see Boomerang Bay with some potential. It does need a touch up or two.
flightoffear1996
They need to do somethign with the amount of walking you have to do at the park. Its horrible in your bare feet on a hot day.
DropZone99
There is no way Boomerang could be removed. BB needs to remove Down Under Thunder, add a slide like Bakuli, maybe an aqua blaster coaster, and a tall speed slide that goes straight down. 2BMasterofK.I._29
It would depend on many bottom dollar sales. I could see it happening. I mean, with The Beach Waterpark and Great Wolf Lodge Neighboring the park. How many waterparks does this one exit need? I think that if Cedar Fair reps. see something that we cannot see that would equal a higher profit for the park, then yes, I do believe that it could happen. As my professor in Park Management, Henry ( Buz ) Burline always said, "After reviewing all possible courses of action, parks can invest in what is concluded to be worth the merit. Sometimes this means starting over by reinventing yourself."
flightoffear1996
I would think even with the other two water parks that BB will not go anywhere.
stremmefan
I don't think BB will go anywhere. It is a great water park. My family has been to a few and they don't even compare to BB. I have also looked online at Cedar Point and Six Flags Great America, and they don't even compare. From experience, and by looking at water parks online, I haven't found one that would even come close to BB. Has anyone else????? My sons really enjoyed the surf simulator which we have not found anywhere else. In fact my sons ( 19 & 17) liked the waterpark more than the amusement park. If anything just keep adding slides! vortexfan
From experience, and by looking at water parks online, I haven't found one that would even come close to BB. Has anyone else????? Yes, there are many water parks that I'd say go far and beyond Boomerang Bay. The Schlitterbahn water parks and the two Walt Disney World water parks just to name a few... Honestly, Boomerang Bay isn't anything to write home about in my opinion.
stremmefan
I'm from South Bend, IN. Let me change that to waterparks within a reasonable distance. I'm not going to Florida or California to go to a waterpark. Lets narrow it down to Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky. Are there any better waterparks in this part of the country? The Interpreter
Uh, you can't judge a waterpark by a website. If you can do that, you are really quite amazing.
Gordon Bombay
Holiday World's water park was actually extremely fun, blows KI's out of the water. I'm not one who likes water parks, nor one who really likes Holiday World, but wow, Splashin Safari is a blast!
The Interpreter
And Kentucky Kingdom is getting an amazing new waterpark attraction this year, as it has in years' past. Quite frankly, that park has a much better waterpark than drypark...
stremmefan
We have 2 waterparks nearby South Bend. They are Splash Down Dunes near Michigan City where Enchanted Forest use to be. They are getting 5 new rides, 1 per year starting next year, which is an ok waterpark, but we've been there 6 times in 2 years. Another one is Deep River waterpark near Valpo. That ones ok too. I am taking my family to Michigans Great adventure in August since we've never been there and its only 2 hous away. It don't look like anything spectacular, but its not far. I went on line again to Holiday world, and again it doesn't look any better than the ones I've been to. I also looked up SFKK which isn't very impressive. Plus considering at the time I was getting ready to take my kids to KI (leaving the hotel room) On June 21, 2007 the news came on about the girl that was hurt at SFKK. I won't take my family there. Also KI is a big trip for our family, and they have both awesome amusement rides, and an awesome waterpark. My boys are amused with the surf simulator. Overall is there a park better within reasonable distance?
The Interpreter
Once again, the park in Michigan's name is Michigan's Adventure--NOT Michigan's GREAT Adventure. There is only one Great Adventure, it's in New Jersey and has the world's largest and fastest roller coaster...and a dandy water park, too.... Like I've said I've NEVER been there. I've also never been to GREAT Adventure, and by looking that up online It does look like a Great park with alot more rides than the one in Gurnee, Illinois. I didn't see their waterpark though. But for now I can't see myself taking my family all the way to Jersey. Anything you got closer?
miss jasmine
totally agree about Kentucky Kingdom. They have a much better water park than amusement park. I went there last season....actually on the day with the whole superman power tower accident. Luckily, we found the waterpark to be much more entertaining and weren't anywhere near the thing when it happened. crazy.
iChase
I don't see BB going anywhere any time soon. It would be a terrible business decision on CF's part. Think about it, it would cost far more to completely level BB and replace it with roller coasters than it would to just improve BB and expand the "normal" part of the park elsewhere. A lot of the guests actually come to KI for the water park, or at least spend an extra day there for it. Removing the water park from a park with few other water rides is not a wise choice. The Interpreter
....not to mention the obvious.... What part of Geauga Lake Park is the only part of that park being kept? Wildwater Kingdom. There's far more money to be made in waterparks than dry parks these days, relative to the investment involved. Of course, there is such a thing as overbuilding... iChase
^ Overbuilding? Interpreter, you can never have too much concrete! At least that seems to be Cedar Fair's philosophy.
DiSab
Splashin' Safari is an excellent water park. Some of the slide you can't judge by looking at the website. For example, ZOOMbabwe has some kick-ass surprises in the slide itself that you can't see from the outside. And Bakuli is simply amazing. Zinga's not bad, either.
