Use this thread to post any questions you may have about the Knievel jump. I'll contact the park and get you official answers.

Who is 'Kaptain' Robbie Knievel?

Robbie Knievel is one of the most famous motorcycle daredevils alive today. He's the son of the legendary Evel Knievel, who attributed part of his fame to jumping 14 Greyhoud buses in Kings Island's parking lot 33 years ago.

Who, What, and When?

Robbie Knievel will attempt to surpass his fathers record by jumping over 24 Coke Zero trucks in Kings Island's parking lot on May 24th, 2008 at 7:00pm.

Will Knievel's jump be a world record?

It's quite possible. Knievel currently holds the record for a ramp to ramp motorcycle jump of 231ft. Depending on how far down the ramp he lands and if his jump is successful, you may see history in the making!

How much will it cost?

This event is FREE with park admission and to season passholders. To purchase admission tickets, go to Kings Island's official web site VisitKingsIsland.com.

Can I just watch it from the parking lot?

The view of the jump will be obstructed from most of the parking lot, so guests must enter the park in order to enter the viewing area.

What else is going on that day?

In addition to the Knievel jump, Kings Island will offer regular operation of their many rides and attractions. Additionally, Hot Island Rhythms will make its debut on the 24th. Also, there will be additional live entertainment at the jump site in the hours leading up to the event. Additionally, we will see a return of the Kings of Komedy Clown Band from the 1980s and 1990s, a very spectacular airplane flyover show, and a performance by the Mason Jumprope Team.

Will there be food and beverages sold in the special viewing area?

Yes, food, beverages and merchandise will be sold in the special viewing area for the Knievel jump.

Will Boomerang Bay be open that day?

Yes, Boomerang Bay will make its 2008 debut on May 24th. Please be advised that the hours of operation for Boomerang Bay Waterpark Resort will be 11am to 6pm on May 24th in order for everyone to get to the Knievel jump site on that day.

I am loving this whole nostalgic approach and now with the new info of special entertainment I am trying to do all I can do to make it over.

Since the parking will most likely full and pushed into the overflow portion of the lot, my question is this; for nostalgic sake will KI be running the trams?

A couple years ago we walked from the grassy area during the 4th celebration and man that was a serious hike.

I don't think the trams are even in working order....

Thank-you Ryan for your response and for keeping us up to date as the information comes out. I think this is going to be one of the greatest days the park has seen in a long time, in fact with an audience so large and being all fired up from the tremendous amount of entertainment I can not think of a better time to make an announcement about the park itself and about future forecasts of sorts.

So can/should we expect an announcement from the park about it’s future including any new attractions?

Probably not on the 24th... but in the future... well... let's just live in the now...

I know I'm planning to bring my video camera on the 24th. Good to know ahead of time we can't record the jump, but with everything else planned for the day there will be plenty of other stuff to film. But will cameras of any kind (specifically of the video variety) even be allowed into the jump area or will I have to stash it in a locker for that period of time?

Unless your camera is out during the time of the jump, I don't see it being much of a problem.

As a worker at KI I can tell you this. Guest will not be walking as far as are lazy asses. We as workers are being told that we have to park in the grass field and softball field right by were we come in and then we will bused into the post were we will be dropped off. That means I guess y'all guest will get are parking lot. Aren't y'all the lucky ones. I drive a scooter, and that won't do well in grass, so I don't know what the hell I'm going to do. I also work in the water park and come in at Post 2, so I guess I the bus will drop us off at Post 3 and I'll have to walk out to my stand. So much fun! From what I have heard most of the north lot will be closed on 24May, so that might be were there having the jump. I don't know what the north lot is, I don't know what the south lot is. I've worked there for 3 years now, so I know were I park. Is the north lot the big lot or the small lot?

For those of us directionally challenged, mainly me, the north lot is the one closest to aces and eights. And guess what-I just got that right this year!! The whole day is gonna be a pain in the butt, but in reality, I wouldn't miss it-I am working a double that day-I just hope I can stay awake afterwards to drive home. I am seriously considering a hotel room, but doubt I do it.

Wow, complain much? Be glad you can enter through Post 2 regularly. When WaterWorks first opened, we had to enter at Post 3, then walk all the way back to the water park. It wasn't until many years later that they allowed associates to enter at Post 2.

And may I point out that on every other day, many guests have to park further than the associates? One day of sacrifice is not too much to ask, especially if they are shuttling you (which the guests do not get either). And chances are the shuttle will be stopping at Post 2, since many associates now enter through that gate.

It's not the walk, or how fay away I am or any of that/ It has to do with Lynda (my scooter). I don't know if she will hold up in the grass or not and I don't even know if Lynda can go in the grass! I mean I guess I can walk her through the grass. But I mostly park Lynda up with all the other bikes, right in front of post 3 Post 2 closes early 8pm most nights, which means we have to walk to post 3 anyways, so that is were she sleeps while I'm working. It has has to do with a scooter in the grass. But I'll just ride in with my girlfriend and we will take the bus.

I was thinking the same thing. Post 2 used to be open to no one.

But remember, we used to have the employee shuttle running in the employee lot, too.

One thing I really wish the park had done before now in regards to tomorrow is release a schedule of events. Give us times as to when the bands are performing, what time the air show is occuring, when we might be able to see the the clown band, etc.

The group that went with us for our first visit of the year is going again tomorrow. My sister is currently undergoing some medical treatments that make her ache, and she has asked me what time everything is because she's not sure how long she'll be able to stay. We know the jump is at 7:00, and expanded fireworks at 10:00, but she really wants to go and see everything. My wife, daughter and I will most likely head up in the early afternoon to get some rides in, and meet up with the rest of the group when they come later.

I'm thinking about heading to the park early morning by myself to see if they give out some type of flier with this information, and head back later with the rest of the family. I'd call the park to ask them, but that's not always the most reliable of information. If they do give something out, I would be able to let my sister know what time she can go. I'm able to take it easy for a normal trip there, but with all these special events going on I would have liked to have been able to plan a little better. If they had posted something on the website more than this for the event details, it would have been helpful. Hopefully I'm not the only one out there who thinks this way!

I with you too XGatorHead 8904 as we are coming over for the whole days worth of entertainment. We wanted to come over for the Jump but we had another obligation but when they announced the expanded entertainment that was enough to stand my niece up on her 5th birthday. Now I will not stand in long lines so we like to participate in the special activities but no schedule has been announced. We don’t know if we should go to BB or how to plan our day so we won’t miss anything. I live without it but I agree it would have been nice and helpful to had more information on the times of the events before now. See you all there.

Let me get this straight, is still photography allowed without permission?

And Ronny, wow! The Canon 1Ds Mark III?

Another thread asked the question if it will be on TV. I looked and I can not find any station that is going to have it live, but I did find out that Channel 5 will be streaming it live on the net. Any one else hear about other LIVE streams or broadcasts? (Good for me, I am out of town)

At the end it says that they will have a live stream.

Everyone have fun at the jump. Remember that you are very literally seeing history in the making. It's not about records or distances necessarily, but rather seeing a legend, who is the worthy son of a legend do something that hasn't been done before. This may be your last opportunity to see a Knievel do anything of this sort, so if you're still on the fence, I highly recommend coming out!!
