Dane
You may be asking why the boards were down for a half hour tonight. The reason is because I was BETA testing a merging program that JJ from Nexigen and I were working on. These are the results. The threads from PKIU came over and merged with the threads already on PKIC. The only problem that was encountered with that was that they were out of order. Users: We discovered that if you have both a PKIC and PKIU account, your PKIC account is dominant. Your member number on PKIC stayed. If you do not have a PKIC account but a PKIU account, you were added at the end of the PKIC accounts. Your signatures, profile info, and contact info stayed merged perfectly. Post Count: They did not merge. If you had a PKIC account and a PKIU account, your PKIC number would be your final one. PKIU only accounts kept there PKIU post count. The PKIUnlimited boards are down because we are moving servers, and whenever Aaron gets to changing the nameservers, it should take one to two days. Keep it locked on PKICentral.com as we have some very big things that you will be seeing in a week or two. :cowboy:
CoastersRZ
Cool, so if you have accounts with the same name on both, it erases all of your posts from over at PKIU? If you have a different screen name over on PKIU can you merge the accounts, and will the post numbers then be added? I look forward to seeing what details emerge from this test and what the future holds.
PKIDelirium
so the posts can be manually added to the counts then?
BoddaH1994
As it turns out, we can not merge the accounts entirely. Your posts from PKIC will dominate your PKIU post count. We can manually change your post count if it comes down to it, but your PKIC member rank will remain the same.

HabloRM
So will PKIU be down forever? I'm confused...

CoastersRZ
Well, I would like to have my post count transfered. I don`t know why, but I just would. So is this the end of PKIU? I thought that it was just being moved to a new server!?
Dane
It is just getting moved to a new server for now. I'm just saying that we are waiting on Aaron to change the name servers so it will point to Nexigen.
King Bowser
Sweet ...so our accounts from PKIU merged w/ PKIC?
Pirate of PKI
So... the PKIU forums are done? Will the site still stay up?
Dane
They were, but were restored since we were just testing out the merging program.
Dan
To clear everything up, the PKIU boards are TEMPORARILY offline because we are switching servers, if we kept the boards open while we did this then all the posts from now until the switch finalizes would be erased and lost forever. The PKIU boards will open back up when PKI Unlimited has fully switched to the nexigen servers. When will that happen, well first we need Aaron to change the DNS info so that it will point to our servers, then the change can occur. The PKIU boards will be back up in a (hopefully) short amount of time, but nonetheless, they will be back up.
CoastersRZ
Ok thanks Dan. That`s what I thought was happening but I got a little confused. Thanks for clearing things up.
SOB_TOM
Depending on when Aaron changes the name servers + 1 to 2 days = ? So somewhere within what, 2 years? I know it took Aaron 8 months just for a new version of the site.
Dane
Well all he has to do is change 2 lines on a site. Hopefully that dosen't break into his very busy free time.
TheKlockster
I know late last night, the entire site was down for a while, and then it came back up. Not just the forums, but the entire site. Is the DNS already done?
Dane
That would be because the server went down. Hence the reason we are moving to nexigen.

I too would like to keep my post count. I have a lot on PKIU, but I am fairly new on PKIC.

BoddaH1994
When and if we merge the forums, you guys will be warned. Just make sure to make note of your PKIU post count so we can do this in an organized way.
