TombRaiderFTW
In a twist (err...) today at IAAPA, Great Coasters International, Inc. announced a new model, the "Big Fun". They posted this video afterward: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Pee7s7cbWm8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I'm curious to know what everyone's thoughts are. I think it looks like a really fun layout, and you can definitely see the CCI influences (which is definitely a good thing, in my opinion--love me some CCI and GCI). I can't really see Kings Island or Cedar Point installing one, but it'd be neat if somewhere like Coney got a Big Fun. TRFTW, hoping you group will see the gravity of this announcement... and trying to make you all grona lot.
thekidd33
With a reported price tag of only $3 million dollars this could be a real nice addition for several smaller parks.
CoastersRZ
Well, I have always maintained that if Coney were to get a wooden coaster, it would be a huge hit, regardless of the firm that designed it! But the $3 million price tag would likely still be out of Coney`s reach. Keep in mind that when they installed the Twister water slides in 2009, they spent nearly $2 million. thekidd33
I think that the Big Fun model or even one of Gravity Group's Splinter FX concept model's would work really well at Coney.
CoastersRZ
Agreed. Unfortunately, I doubt I`ll ever see a wooden coaster at Coney, as long as I`m working there... But stranger things have happened.
jcgoble3
That sure looks fun. For some reason it reminds me of Tornado at Stricker's Grove. The one downside I see to it, if the rendering of the train is accurate, is that only holds 12 riders per train, and we know full well what that does to capacity (*coughBLSCcough*). So it would work best at a smaller park that won't have a lot of guests at any given time.
CoastersRZ
True. But keep in mind that the Python at Coney only currently holds six people per train! Talk about a capacity nightmare!
bkroz
The question is, would you prefer that each Cedar Fair park got an identical WindSeeker, or an identical Big Fun coaster? Would've been about the same cost, wouldn't it? Perhaps less, if the Big Fun model doesn't encounter the same mechanical issues that the WindSeeker did... westcoaster
This would be great at coney WOW!!! please Coney get one. It does have some thoughts of Strickers grove's Coaster for sure... for 3 million, maybe someone will get it!!!!
CoasterGeek101
Looks like a perfect fit for smaller parks.
kingsrattler
Shoot, at 3 million, why doesn't Cedar Fair just put one in every park. Seems like a successful ploy so far.
XGatorHead 8904
Looks like a fun little coaster. I can see some possible little pops of airtime, and head choppers are always a good thing.
The Interpreter
Looks like a fun little coaster. KI-ORIG-EMP
Agreed. Unfortunately, I doubt I`ll ever see a wooden coaster at Coney, as long as I`m working there... But stranger things have happened. I miss the Shooting Star, which was really fun to ride!
