Dinosaurs Alive! admission price

While we already know that Gold and Platinum Pass holders will get free admission to the dinos this year, I was just poking around on the park's website and discovered new DA! pricing for everyone else in the online store. Instead of simply $5/person, online prices for the trail are now $6 for one ticket, $4 each for two tickets, $3 each for three tickets, or $2.50 each for four tickets. The store also makes no mention of movie tickets, which could mean two things: either the movie is free again like it was in 2012, instead of being another upcharge like it was in 2011 and 2013 (seriously, PLEASE make up your minds :P), or it's gone and will be replaced with something else.

What do you guys think of the new pricing structure and the possibilities for the movie?

Action Theater is not labelled as an attraction on the 2014 map, as it was in previous seasons, so I wouldn't expect any film this year.

I think the Dinosaurs Alive pricing is a big improvement. It's a much better deal for families & passholders, which will hopefully lead to more utilization.

"More utilization". That may be good for the park's profits, but I'm concerned there could be too much utilization. One of the things I liked about it in previous years was how quiet and uncrowded it was, without unsupervised, annoying teenagers* (bouncing basketballs optional), loud/obnoxious people, and the like. Even if you didn't care about the dinos, it was a great place to relax for an hour and take a break from the rides (especially while waiting on lunch to settle).

With free admission to Gold and Platinum Pass holders and cheaper admission for everyone else (when purchased two or more at a time), I foresee the possibility that these types of people will invade DA! and completely destroy the peaceful environment with large crowds and loud/obnoxious behavior. I'm not saying that that will happen, or even that it's likely to happen, but it is something that I'm wary of.

*Disclaimer: Not all teenagers are annoying, as many who post on these forums have shown. :)

As soon as I heard that Dinosaurs Alive! was free this year with Gold Passes, I immediately started to fear the idea of large crowds. My wife and I walked through it the first year it was open and it was a very nice, calm area of the park. It was quite nice. I highly doubt it will continue to be such an area in the upcoming season. With free admission and cheaper admission, I highly doubt that people won't take advantage of that. I'm afraid we'll start to see some crowding in that area. Hopefully none of the dinos will be messed with or damaged. If so, I doubt that the free/cheaper admission will be here to stay. I hope I'm wrong. Hopefully it will be able to stay the same as it always has been because I'd like to enjoy some time in the area this year and perhaps years to come.

I am happy to hear it is free for me and my fiance this year :) he has been wanting to see it but we never want to spend the money. Now we don't have to!

Who goes through Dinos alone?

I do, for one. :)
Maybe, but yours will be free anyway as a Gold/Platinum pass holder.

There's a thing in marketing called perceived value. That's when people essentially feel like they get a better deal than they are getting. So if a couple buys 2 Dino tickets, they feel as though they got a better deal by spending $4 as opposed to $5, although the park budgets each person pays $4 or less. Same goes for "free" parking for Gold pass holders and "free" Pepsi at Holiday World. The cost of these items is still built into your ticket, but you feel as though you are getting a better deal since it's not itemized. It's all in the mind. :)

But yeah, very cool deal for both pass holders and ticket buyers. Glad they went this direction.

Said the animated Beatles (George, mostly) in Yellow Submarine. Now, please direct me to the nearest Extra Magic Hours going on..I can't believe I get an extra 2 hours in the park for free!
