BriTre
This was the first year in forever that I've actually had a pass to Kings Island. My son is 8 years old and has always been a big chicken. I went ahead and purchased him a 2 day pass to see if he would even ride anything. The first day we went we headed to Planet Snoopy to start things off slowly. To my surprise we had a great day and he rode everything including the hanging coaster. A few days later I went ahead and decided to get him a season pass because I knew he'd atleast have fun in Planet Snoopy. He's tall for his age already 53" tall so I figured we'd try some family rides outside of the park. So far so good he liked The Scrambler and The Monster. Figured it was time to test out the smaller coasters in the park. Off we set off for Adventure Express, he loved it! Figured next stop would be Stunt Coaster, all good there too. I pointed over to The Racer and let him know he was tall enough to ride it. He told me if my boyfriend came with us he'd ride it. Next trip I took the boyfriend along and my son jumped on the red train with my boyfriend next to him and be behind. He was scared going up the hill because the restraint doesn't sit against his lap. When the ride was over he said he loved it. I figured if he can handle The Racer it was off to The Beast! Once again he rode with my boyfriend who wasn't happy because he doesn't like The Beast because its rough. I rode in front of them this time and when the ride was over I turned around to see what he thought. He slaps both hands down on the restraints and yells, "PLEASE TELL ME WE GET TO GO ON ANOTHER LAP!" At this point momma is thrilled because I don't have to stay stuck on small coasters and in Planet Snoopy. We now go to the park about 2 times a week since we only live 7 min away and he's officially rode everything he's tall enough to ride including Banshee on our last visit! He still doesn't know what to say about it except he was kind of terrified, though he told me today he wants to ride it again tonight. Can't wait until next year because he should be over 54" and can ride everything!

It's always sweet to see kids gain confidence when riding new rides! Can't wait to see what your next trips bring in terms of confidence gain for your son and the fun for you!
LoraX
Welcome to KIC. Thank you for sharing. I remember when I spent time in kiddie land more than the big kids park. I think I heard a choir of angels breaking out in the Hallelujah chorus once Princess Sparkles was tall enough to ride "big kid" coasters. What a joyous occasion! From the time she turned 3, she would cry to ride the big kids rides (her brother and two family friends were 6-8 years older than her.) She may not love every ride, but more times than not she will try any coaster or flat. It's a wonderful thing when you can spend time with your child doing something you both enjoy. Such a great way to create memories.
