homestar92
Has anyone here used an on-screen barcode from their phone to enter a Cedar Fair park? I'm curious because these sorts of things intrigue me. I'm not sure if Kings Island allows admissions through such a means, but I'd certainly use the technology if they do. Before you say "call the park", don't worry, I'll probably ask in person next time I'm there. I'm just curious if anyone has any anecdotal experience with this. Oddly enough, at least one park in the chain has iOS Passbook integration, though I never tried because on that trip, my phone didn't get turned on unless there was Wi-Fi because international data roaming charges are not fun. Truth be told, they may all do that. Canada's Wonderland is the only Cedar Fair park I've ever purchased a day ticket for within the last 4 seasons, and the ticket wasn't even for me. I had a Platinum Pass. Though the scanners at the turnstiles at Kings Island are of the flatbed variety, and those do not play very nicely with barcodes on cell phone screens. (Barcode not blurred out because the ticket has already been used and I'm lazy ) Now, if the park supported NFC payments, that would be sweet. I could leave my wallet in the car! (And yes, Terp, we know that not everyone brings a cell phone in parks. But some of us DO, and for us, this would still be cool) I know that my other amusement park season pass cannot be used in this way, however, as Kentucky Kingdom passes feature the passholder's picture on the card itself, and it does not appear on a monitor at the gate. I'm sure they wouldn't be too keen on that unless they had their own app for such a purpose.

BoddaH1994
You can already purchased admission via the mobile site or on the KI app and use the displayed barcode for entry.
Outdoor Man
tested at the park on Sunday- you can snap a picture of your pass barcode on a smartphone, and at least at KI- because they have 3D scanners, it recognized it. It isn't an app- but just a good, clear picture of the pass barcode. Scanned at the Snoopy Boutique, worked as expected. Passes at a certain park (not KI or a CF park) in the US will be able to be used as an in-park debit card in 2015. You will go online and buy park "credits" and use them at most park POS kiosks. Mom and dad can send son or daughter to park with only their Pass (or smartphone) and manage their credit balance from their home or office.
Buckeye Brad
I used the iPhone's Passbook app for Canadas Wonderland last months for 4 admission tickets and a parking pass. Fast and efficient. The next night I used the same app to go to a Toronto Blue Jays Game. Worked great. I believe if you load the tickets into the app beforehand, you don't need to use any data to display them later. Interestingly, at a St. Louis Cardinals game in June they refused to scan any phone barcodes whatsoever. Luckily we had printed copies as backup. TombRaiderFTW
I've used it at Kings Island for regular one-day tickets. It works well. The only downside to this is that you then have your phone on you when you go to ride something, but if that doesn't bother you, I recommend it.
WailsLikeABanshee
I know that the Android app, KeyRing works for passes at Kings Island. They were scanning phone screens as of last season. I'm not sure if KeyRing is available on iOS though.

Oldschool75
Yes to confirm I used Mobile pocket today that has my pass scanned in for admittance to the park and for my meal plan at Rivertown LaRosas. Of course the kid working the register at LaRosas looked at me like I had 2 heads. Lol Sent from a signal coming out of the Vega system.
