Calling all Plus Size riders...

Hi! So- I'm on a weight loss journey after battling hypothyroidism (I gained about 80lbs in just a few months) and am currently down almost 40lbs. However, I had to do the walk of shame off of WindSeeker last summer (hence the weight loss journey) but am able to ride Woodstock express with my son without much issue (it's a bit snug at the lap bar, but the belt is fine).

I also can ride boo blasters without any issue (with room to spare) but am considering attempting some other coasters before the end of the season.

I'm 5'6", 266 with a 50" bust, 52" hips and 46" waist. I tried to ask some staff, but most of them looked at me and said "oh you can ride anything!" But sadly I know that's not the case. I.e. WindSeeker.

Any ride suggestions? Thanks so much for your help!

P.s. Are there any restrictions on sizing at the waterpark? Could I in theory ride all the water slides there? I've been too embarrassed to try.

I don't know exact sizes but if you can get 2 clicks on the lap bars you are safe to ride any coaster, the wooden ones are the snuggest coasters for me in the waist area but I have seen people bigger than me get on The Beast. If I were to say one coaster to test with is Diamondback you can try the seat out front to see if you hit the 2 clicks on the lap bar. Good luck on your journey.

I was just at Kings Island yesterday and we have a similar build. I'm 4 pounds heavier, 3 inches larger in the hip,but 6 inches smaller in the bust than you. I could ride everything EXCEPT Diamondback and Flight of Fear (thick thighs) you should be fine. Enjoy yourself!

I would try Diamondback and Banshee (rows 4 and 5 on Banshee have slightly larger belts for bigger riders) as those are probably the most forgiving rides coaster wise. The Bat is also fairly forgiving for larger riders. Drop Tower is probably the one ride I can say for certain you will not fit on currently.

Good luck on your weight loss journey! I know it is not an easy one!

I'm about the same except my height is 4" taller and 10 lbs lighter and I can ride everything except WindSeeker and Drop Tower. I wish you well in your journey and point of service I can give you is the testing seats for Diamondback, Banshee, and Delirium. You can also go up the exit ramps and ask the ride ops to test the seat also. If you can fit safely then get in line and ride on! Good luck in your quest.

As others mentioned, proportions matter! It's not just about weight or inches. I've seen larger people get on some rides with no problem and others not. I've come thisclose to not latching the seat belt at Drop Tower but have seen much larger people ride.

In addition to what is already mentioned, here are a few things to note. Before you sit down on a seat with a seatbelt around your waist, grab the seat belt, pull it all the way out, then sit down and fasten the belt. Will save time trying to fumble around. For any ride with the OTS, if you can adjust your upper body, you may be able to make it work. Diamondback's lap bars hit your thighs, not waist. WindSeeker's are similar as they are hitting your thighs instead of stomach.

Best of luck!

Thank you everyone for your input! I've lost another 5lbs and inch overall, so I'm gonna brave up and try some rides out this weekend. My thighs are about 30" at the largest part, and I was one click off from being able to ride WindSeeker, so I'm hoping the extra few pounds will be the shift. I'll report back with what I've been able to ride at the end of the weekend! Thanks everyone!

So to report back:

Banshee I rode front seat. Needed to pull the black flat chest harness out a bit, but it fit with some finesse.

Diamondback rode front seat. Needed a push to get it locked down, but it wasn't hard to achieve.

Bat rode front seat. I could have been 50lbs heavier and still rode.

Going back in the AM to attempt beast, Vortex, etc. Spoke with guest relations though and they told me that Diamondback is the ride to use to gauge. The guy said that if you can ride that, you can ride anything in the park as that is the most restrictive. I was figuring The Beast was more restrictive but we will see tomorrow.
