Piggybacking off of @TOPGUN1993’s post about Swoop, it got me thinking of all the original IP that was made for coasters and attractions across the industry that were never utilized.

I actually liked the name “Splinter Cat”

I still think Polaris would've been a better name than Orion. Also, was the name "Splinter Cat" actually being considered for Mystic Timbers? I remember seeing that name a lot in the 2017 decoding thread, but thought it was mainly rumors.

Banshee as the original name for Mantis (now Rougarou) at Cedar Point.

I’ll leave that to @DonHelbig to answer. I thought the name Splintercat was trademarked and the park actually did some lore building with the sound of buzzing bees and Don posting a picture of a stock splintercat on twitter. From what I remember it was all a diversion.

This all makes me really want to see an alternate reality version of the park with the alternate names/themes in place.

I remember I was expecting Mystic to be named SplinterCat up until the announcement and then that night when it was announced I couldn't wrap my head around the name Mystic Timbers bc it just sounded so strange and unexpected.
