Gordon Bombay
When they made the coaster couldnt they have made it longer and bigger by putting it in that area outlined in red? I know before Paramount owned the park that plans had been finalized to build the thing with Arrow Dynamics so did the previous owners just not have enough money to make it longer? pyrocoasterkid
^ Well that took me a whole 5 seconds to find on yahoo... hmmmm Danger Zone Lyrics Anyway, yea i was wondering what you all were talking about... The sign just switched sides of the queue....
erniebald57
I was at the park last Monday...last monday of the summer. Why was Top Gun closed? Another thing. It looks like hell. Are they going to spruce it up? or is it the "big ride removal" we've all heard about.

I know before Paramount owned the park that plans had been finalized to build the thing with Arrow Dynamics so did the previous owners just not have enough money to make it longer? I don't remember the exact layout of the safari monorail, but wouldn't have at least some of the wild animal safari have been in the outlined area? The bridge that TD's queue line goes under was a bridge that the monorail crossed, and seems to head into that direction...

flightoffear1996
That the monorail proably went into that. When Top Gun was built it was state of the art tecnology back then to have a swinging coaster going that fast and taking some the turns back then. This ride drew line like you wouldn't belive. Top Gun made alot of money for the park.
bdboy007
I can remember the lines going out to the entrance, what ever happened to the jets on the stands? the stands are still there but the f-14 and f-5 are gone
Alien Seed
The jets were falling apart from age. PKI didn't really pay any attention to them, so time, rain, rust, etc. eventually got hold of them, especially the mig.
jzarley
I remember the first season waiting 2.5 hours for TG...the line expanded beyond the queue (and, this is when the lower station "carrier" portion was still open), back beyond where the sky coaster is now, and ended up down near Congo Falls, where they had temporary queues set-up to handle the crowds. One of the absolutely busiest days I have ever been at PKI was on a Saturday during the Summer of '93. While TG is definitely the best of the Arrow Suspendeds, I'm not sure it was considered "cutting edge" technology even back in '93. (In fact, if I'm not mistaken, I believe TG was the last major installation of an Arrow Suspended...) I still believe that if KECO had not been so far into the process with Arrow when Paramount purchased the parks we still would have gotten "Top Gun"--it just would have been a B&M suspended inverted just like PGA's... (Well, either that or we would have gotten DoT a year early ) Joel
