Employees cannot attend audience participation shows. I don't know if it is one - it is isn't it? I might go this year. I thought about seeing it last year but was told I wasn't allowed. This is not an audience participation show. I checked the show out 17 times last year and never once was the audience asked to participate in any way. By the way, the pics are GREAT! PKIVortex
I don't remember such a policy when I worked at PKI. Now I can understand if they don't want you to particpate in an audience particpation show.
The Interpreter
Yah, I saw the show at four of the five Paramount Parks, and I don't remember any audience participation either, other than loud applause!
WooferBearATL
Why would employees not be able to attend audience participation shows? Was never a rule when I worked at the park. Heck as long as you were out of uniform you could pretty much do anything.
The Interpreter
Perhaps Paramount wanted to save the thrill of participating in an audience participation show for paying customers...and avoid the appearance of having only paid shills be the participants! Not to mention in some situations an employee could make staying in character difficult for the players.

The Interpreter
Thought? Yes. Money? No. Priority? No. Cedar Fair will do better? The jury is out. It all depends on what priority THEY put on entertainment. Personally, I thought entertainment at Kings Island was much better in both quality and quantity before it was largely outsourced. The same could be said of the food.

TheKlockster
Employees are not allowed to attend audience participation shows or play any games. And that is out of uniform. If you have your work shirt on (even if you are wearing a regular shirt - if your collar is visible) you cannot ride any rides or purchase anything at a park restaurant or gift shop. If you have your work shirt on the only place you can spend money is the Backstage Cafe.
The Interpreter
...formerly known as Oscar's. Sigh. Again.
WooferBearATL
Ahhh, well employees have never been allowed to play games. I think that is a law, though. You'd have to ask a games person the reason for that, though.
The Interpreter
Games. Law. Hmm....must not ask out loud why amusement park games are not gambling....Must not. No, can't do that.
WooferBearATL
Games. Law. Hmm....must not ask out loud why amusement park games are not gambling....Must not. No, can't do that. I think that games are under the gaming laws and regulations. I do know that under KECO that warren county auditors did come out and monitor the games and check them from time to time. They also used to come out and check the scales used in food service.
The Interpreter
It was one thing when they were fifty cents. But at five dollars (which some of them are in some parks), this certainly is getting darn close to gambling, if it isn't. Then again, many if not most of the prizes are no longer even worth what you pay to play. Most come from China. I bet anything the cost on those basketballs is much less than the cost to play. And the annoying BOUNCE BOUNCE BOUNCE drives me batty. But anyway, this was a School of Rock thread. An awesome show. Well worth seeing. And those were great pix! WooferBearATL
It boggles my mind why every park I can think of does the basketball as prize games. That is annoying in every park. I'd much rather put up with the occasional smoker than the baskeball dribblers. I think I'm allergic to basketball dribbling in parks. PKIVortex
When I visited PKD back in 1998, they were giving out basketballs that were deflated, made me wonder why PKI didn't do that. As far as employees not playing games, my understanding of that was, since they were no way to get a recepit that said you actually won the game, they had no way of knowing if you actually won the prize or a friend at the game gave it to you. That's why they had the plush sale once a month, so you could purchase whatever prize you wanted and they could give you a receipt to show on your way out. Again when I worked at the park (1999 - 2001), they were no said rule about employees couldn't attend any show.
BoddaH1994
To answer the threads above, I can personally confirm that employees can't be in the shows? Why can I do that? Because they tried to stop me from being in Magic of the Movies two years ago just because I'm associated with this site! Before you ask, no, I don't work for Paramount Parks!! Back to the matter at hand, this show is going to be GREAT this year!! I'm very excited for the entertainment department. The musicians are all very charismatic in this show and will only get better and tighter as the summer presses on. If you turn down the opportunity to see School of Rock, you're really missing out on something special.
TheKlockster
I'll see it now that I am "allowed". But I am not expecting anything big from it.
Mr. Christopher
Awesome update. It seems to me that the show will be bigger and brighter than before... literally. Maybe it's the photos, but the lighting seems to pack quite a punch this year. Very, very cool.
beastbreakdown
During my trip to the park yesterday, I stopped in and watched the show. It was filled with many classic rock songs and they perfected each one that they performed. I thought the show was fantastic; I recommend that you should stop in and see it some time. Captain Picard
I seen it today and rate it as a very good show for PKI. If you was to compare it to something like the Bill and Ted Show at Universal HHN, It's not even close. I will go see it again to see if it gets better as the year goes on. gburn07
Well whats the Bill and Ted show like lol and how do people compare it to last year. I hope they did'nt change the songs. I loved them all
Kenban
Games. Law. Hmm....must not ask out loud why amusement park games are not gambling....Must not. No, can't do that. Its actually pretty easy. One is a game of chance the other is a game of skill. I know there is a LOT of luck involved in some of the games but thats how the state views it. My thinking is that in a game of skill its your fault you lost since you did not have enough skill to win. Actually in Japan they have anti gambling laws and how they get around them is by having two shops. One that has games (pachinko machines if your wondering) and a gift shop that exchanges the metal balls for prizes. You take the prizes to a little shop right outside the door to the pachinko parlor and they exchange the prize you just got for cash.
