You may have noticed this week the forums have been down occasionally. @malemhas identified the issue in the SQL database and plans to apply a fix tonight. Hopefully that resolves the issues we have been seeing this week.

KIC Diamondback Background

I'm somewhat new around here (VERY new compared to others) so forgive me if it's been answered before. I was curious why the Diamondback background doesn't work. Is there just not a picture able to be on here, or is it something else? Just curious. It would also be cool to see a Banshee background as well

Security Certificate Expired

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but visiting the site now gives me a warning about the site's security certificate. According to Chrome, it expired at 11:05 PM on March 25.

KIC Photo Gallery - Loss of Photos

Photos in parts of the photo gallery on the main KICentral site have recently gone missing.

Don't see any mention of this currently so going to make a post here so at least one other person can confirm it's not showing for them either.
Attempting to view the individual files results in a 404. Just as a precaution I have attempted to access these through other devices, different networks, and different browsers.

Steps to reproduce:

Visit https://KICentral.com/photos/
Search for "Maps" or "Haunt 2018" or any of the other categories listed below (some more are impacted too)
Open the photo gallery
Try to see if the photos within them load properly

Some categories have some photos, but most are inaccessible/missing. I do not know when this started occurring or if it is the result of some backend work, but better safe than sorry.
Please correct me if this is just some temporary work!

Nonetheless hope this can be fixed, don't want to lose some of this history.

Forums are mostly debates anyway but would a debate section be welcomed here?

Debates would focus on one topic-

For example: Kings Island needs a Surf Coaster…

The thread would then be filled with responses for or against the topic presented.

Would something like this be beneficial or redundant?

New Kings Island History Forum

Due to members requests, you may have noticed by now that we have added a new Kings Island History forum. I have went back through the Kings Island Forum to the start of 2014 and moved any thread that was about KI history. I hope this helps keep all of the awesome history of our favorite park a little more organized.

Critical tone on the forum

In recent weeks, we've noticed that the tone on the forum has taken a sharply critical turn, and we'd like to ask for everyone's help in fixing it.

KIC is all about sharing our appreciation for the park and the industry, and we want to keep the discussion as open to as many opinions as possible. At the same time, snarky comments make the forum less fun to read and contribute to. It's getting old, and we need it to stop.

Specifically, we're asking that critical comments be respectful; sarcasm and exaggeration should be avoided. Ideally, tell the park how they should improve; Kings Island is always looking for feedback here and on social media. Honest opinions and experiences, both positive and negative, are always welcome to be shared here.

If you see posts that are creating an overly negative tone, reminding the poster to keep it constructive and/or using the "Report" button would be most appreciated. Thanks everyone for your attention to this matter.

Forum Software Update

Our wonderful @malemupdated the forum software last night. One of the key features of the update was an update to the design of the forum. Key elements they worked on for this uopdate was the following:

A brighter UI with more saturation & contrast and simpler overall color scheme
Improved typography
Better, more consistent, spacing around and between elements, especially on mobile
Better logical grouping of sections of each page
Reducing underutilized links/buttons on the page and finding alternative ways of making them available
Improving how post states are displayed
Modernizing and enhancing the underlying code that powers the default theme

KICentral Video Content Producer Announced

The Admin team would like to formally announce Evan Duffy (or as you know him) @DeltaFlyer as KIC's new Video Content Producer. The KIC YouTube channel has not really been utilized, and we are going to start populating it with new content for the channel. We are excited to see how Evan utilizes his video editing skills for KIC and Kings Island Fans. We hope you enjoy the new content and subscribe to the channel if you have not already done so.

Evan has been going to Kings Island since he was a child. He has been a member of KICentral since 2018. Outside of KICentral, he is an architectural engineer and technical director for a local high school theater.

Now is a good time to bring up KIC safety while posting and meeting up at the park. It is important to the KIC admins that we are communicating in a safe and responsible way. Remember: The minimum age for membership on KIC is 13 years old. Discuss and communicate with other members that you do not know as if they are a minor.

For the safety of all KIC members, the KIC meetup thread has always been accessible to logged in KIC members only.
Be smart when meeting up with other members.
Do not meet up with anyone individually.
Bring a responsible adult to a meetup. (I have meet many parents at KIC meetups and other KI events and I am very glad to do so.)

KIC is interested in someone who is willing to make videos for our Youtube channel.

Qualifications:

Loves video editing
Can get video content at Kings Island
Wants to expand and grow their video skills for KIC
Has the hardware/software to do this already (There is no budget for this at all.)

This person will only work on video context and NOT be burdened as a moderator. Will work with IndyGuy4KI as Media Director to come up with ideas, approve the video for publishing and promote the videos. Like the rest of the KIC staff, there will be no pay involved. (We do this because we love Kings Island.)

Something is broken with regards to external images. If I try to post an image from an external site, I just get a broken image instead. If I actually attach the file to the post, it works fine.

Would it be possible to either update the KIC Dark theme or get a new dark theme that takes up all available screen width like the IPB Default and KIC bright themes do? I like the dark theme but at full HD (1920x1080), it seems too narrow.
