stashua123
A DAY TO REMEMBER Kings Island KIC HAUNT NIGHT & STRICKERS GROVE, 10/7/2016 and 10/9/2016 Part 1 of 3: Prologue (August 11th, 2016 - 5:26 PM 10/7/2016) and Thank Yous! -<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>- I had quite possibly the best amusement park visit I have ever had... on October 7-8th ,2016 with the KIC Group and a fantastic little excursion with BeastForever at Strickers Grove on October 9th. This will be a Trip Report of Three Parts, first off will be the Proluge, explaining the significance of this visit(and weekend), why it meant so much to me and thanking everyone who made it memorable. Dont worry, the main body of the trip report will be coming soon! I just thought it would be nice to be out of the ordinary and try to make my trip report unique. A little prologue for you all... PROLOGUE: 10:45 PM August 11th,2016 - October 7th, 2016, 5:26 PM This was a weekend since finding out that BeastForever would probably be going on the 7th of October ALL the way back on August 11th, when we had first discussed when we would see each other again after having a great time with you on August 11th. We set the date... October 7th.... a day that I had been looking forward to and in many ways striving to live for..... in the meantime between my last visit on August 18th and my first visit in nearly two months, our friendship expanded in such a way I never thought possible, the more I came to know BeastForever, who I know as Daniel, the more and more I came to look forward to this day. We got to know each other and by the time Haunt Night was nearing we had become very close friends..... which made this day even more of a thing I was looking forward to. We were both to quote him "living for 10/7 and 10/9", and in many ways we both certainly were.... through this time I got introduced to pop punk by him in late August, found my way through the genre and eventually came to love it, got to know Daniel more personally as well as him getting to know me, realizing just how similar we were in many ways, texting each other daily and eventually morphing into a friendship above and like no other. Nearing Haunt Night we both realized we had not been to Strickers Grove in a long time and while it was more of an afterthought we decided we would go on Customer Appreciation Day the week before October 7th and thats when we decided to go on that day. Originally I was going to visit the park on September 30th for KIC Haunt Night preliminary date, but once it was moved to October 7th I cancelled that trip, as I wanted my first trip back to start haunt off with a bang! And with that... the date was getting ever closer and closer.... and finally after some ups and downs through the winding road of everyday life.... it had arrived... -<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>- 1:46 PM: OK, you can go.... just be back by 2 am, nothing good happens after 2AM! -Mother I had just gotten finished with an honestly very petty argument with my mother over what time I should be back from KI and everything that was drawn out over two hours, she originally said no but after MUCH convincing I got her to let me go! I had quite a crappy day, things not going to well..... lunch as boring as always, Algebra II I had TWO pop quizzes and bombed both, a world geography test, a physics quiz.... it was all just a little bit stressful! But I finally got to Religion class and things seemed to calm down a little... so I finally got the email from my mom I could go.. And I DID prove her wrong that Nothing Good Happens after 2 am, ALOT of good happened after 2 am. It certainly did *checks phone* "One more calc lecture and I will be on my way home!" -BeastForever 2:56 PM *Bell rings* FINALLY OUT OF SCHOOL! WOOHOO! I get picked up by my brother, immediately get dressed into my KI gear, Mystic Timbers t-shirt and my Lees Dunagers Cargo shorts.... We leave at 4:26 PM We have quite the interesting conversation on the way up though the traffic was abnormally heavy for rush hour... so I arrived a bit late. 5:26... I FINALLY arrive... and little did I know... even my highest expecations would be shattered beyond belief for this amazing night.... So I walk down to meet my night of FUN.... And with that I will end my prologue and start my Thank You's -<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>- THANK YOU.... I have always made it customary in my trip reports to try and thank everyone that helped my day fantastic before starting off with the body of the Trip Report. But making it nontraditional, this will all be a part of its own. And here are the people I would like to Thank. -<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>- Thank you, BeastForever(Daniel)- This visit was so anticipated because it would be the first time I had seen you since our friendship really started expanding on August 11th, you had gone to college and our friendship had blossomed in the meantime. I had put extrememly high expectations on this visit, which in some ways could have been too sky high, but even with those sky high expectations, they were met and blown through the roof. Though you arrived at 11:13 PM, much later than the initial ETA of 8:30-9:00 PM due to an absolute perfect storm of events that made you late. I did get a bit anxious that you were not going to show up since you were my ride home and all, but as soon as I got that text while dining at RHOFG after taking a walk to the front gate to calm my nerves a little, it made the anxiety disappear.... and then you sent me the text message at 11:13 that you had arrived, I sped walked to the gate and finally saw you at 11:18! (And NO! The Apocalypse did not happen before I got there.... and some horrible event did not transpire! Lol. ) Thus started a conversation that lasted until with only one period of interruption 2:40 am.... and it was one of the best moments of my life was finally getting all that we had spent hours upon hours texting about to each other into an in-person conversation and it was so great to see just how relating we could be. And then being introduced to your favorite pop punk band on the way home, Senses Fail.... after much anticipation and foreshadowing as to what exactly the band was! and conversing some more.... getting lost on the way home, an attempted 2:20 am McDonalds run, and finally finding the way to my house by 2:40 am... all while listening to 10 songs by Senses Fail.... ahhh it was all so fantastic!!! Thank you for making this day a special one and one I will remember for a very long time...... and the conversation made it very special.... Thank you Daniel... you certainly made this A Day To Remember. And I am glad... the last visit of the season for you was a great one for you at Kings Island. The Strickers Grove visit in and with itself was so great... while the park was busy and we only rode two rides, the Tornado, Putt-Putt and the Flyers, it was nice spending the afternoon with you and continuing our conversation from the night before.... was a little bittersweet saying goodbye to you, but it was all fantastic. Thank you Daniel for making this weekend a fantastic one, despite only going on 4 amusement park visits with you this year(Hopefully next year that will change! ) they were all so fantastic... I cannot wait until Thanksgiving break when I finally get to see you again!!! And again, thank you Daniel -<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>- Thank you, Beastie1980(Melissa)- In the short time that we interacted from 10:30 PM-11:13 PM and 12:56 PM - 1:30 AM, you made my day in so many ways... we had a great conversation. So anyways, you arrived to eat at RHOFG and quite honestly I do not think I have laughed with anyone that much in person ever, especially that Tumblr video post... MAN! I laughed so much I literally cried... it was quite hilarious(and I apologize for making a fool of myself in front of everyone, I couldn't help it! lol. )!!! And it was very nice to have someone to talk to at my side of the table (other than Ohiocolts ) and the last Beast Ride was great... the little old group photo makes me laugh so much... you are standing on the curb and yet compared to me, BeastForever and Malem you STILL look tiny! You made my day better by being such a comic relief and being someone that always makes anyones day brighter! I look forward to seeing you Closing Day! Thank you Melissa:) -<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>- Thank you, malem (Matthew) - Since the start of the day we met each other up at the front gate you stayed by me except for a brief period of seperation until 11:13 and then from 12:50 until close... you were a good guy to hang around, our speed walking made it all so cool! It was nice meeting up with you... you always make it FUN! Cannot wait to see you closing day.... and you deserve so much credit for arranging these meet ups! You truly are the face for KIC! -<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>- Thank you Magenta Lizard (Liz) - You made this day a bit more memorable as I had not really talked to you before, the selfie was nice and walking around the park getting to know you more was a bit of a joy! Thank you Liz! Looking forward to seeing you again! You certainly had some interesting stories to tell! -<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>- And finally Thank you Silver2005 (Mike) - Despite you getting sick at RHOFG, it was quite memorable to walk around the park with you, and your great sense of humor made everything better! It was great finally getting to know you a bit better and I am looking forward to seeing you again! -<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>-<>- And everyone else, Ohiocolts, JubJester, Gannersdaddy, Jcgoble3, MDMC01 for making this night so memorable as well! I didn't forget about you guys. You guys made my day in so many different ways... and it was GREAT seeing all of you, and I look forward to meetin up with you guys in the future! My next part will be ALL about the amazing day I had on October 7th,2016 and finally the great afternoon at Strickers Grove on Sunday October 9th... which I WILL post sometime this weekend! I just wanted to post this first as a thank you to all! I know... a bit unorthodox, but just know, you all have the body to look forward to now! stashua123
Thanks for the response Daniel, and again thank you for the great time, it was so memorable! Trying to make this as unique as possible! And I knew you would love the title. Part 2 will be on its way this weekend!
stashua123
I apologize for the really long delay, I have really not had the time until this weekend to post this again..... But due to a new spurt of motivation, I will FINALLY get around to posting this! A DAY TO REMEMBER: PART TWO: Kings Island October 7th, 2016: 5:26 PM - 2:40 AM Okay, so leaving off the EPIC cliffhanger I had left you all on. 5:25 PM: See ya later! So I had just said goodbye to my brothers Luke and John after they had dropped us off. And was now walking down the pathway from the Kings Island sign to the Front Gate... for the first time since August 18th, 2016. It was sort of hard to believe I guess just how much had happened since my last time at Kings Island. How much life had just... changed... in between that time I had become fantastic friends with BeastForever, I had achieved a lot in my first quarter of Junior Year of high school with great grades to show for that... and had finally started on a track in my life that I was so freaking happy about... All of this was going through my mind as I was walking down that walkway for the first time in nearly two months. An achingly beautiful fall day... it certainly was a Day To Remember. I had finally gotten across the street and could just make out the blue shirt Malem was wearing with me wondeirng if that wa shim or not, but by the time I made it to the security gates I could tell obviously that was him. Had a quick security check and met up with the group that was there so far! Gannersdaddy and Malem! Finally after a while the others showed up... Magenta Lizard, Silver 2005 and Jcgoble03. A great conversation enfolded and we all just talked about what we were doing in our lives and just how much we were looking forward to the day that was about to enfold! Finally at 6 PM the gates opened and we rushed in! We all got our passes scanned and then took a group picture! Because I have FunPix and everything we all thought it would be a great idea to pose for one! So after the group picture we all decided that we should ride Diamondback first! So we all headed into that direction! But before riding we all saw to some of our surprise the new Tom and Chee! Magenta Lizard was about to go and eat some right then and there but unfortunately it was not on the dining plan this year so we were out of luck. So we all entered into Diamondbacks queue line which was not full at all... there was no wait, only in the station. I believe I got 7-2 alone, Malem and Silver2005 in 7-1, Gannersdaddy and Ganner in 6-2 and Jcgoble03 and Magenta Lizard in 8-1. It was a great ride and my first rollercoaster ride in almost 2 months! Was quite thrilling! And I know my weight loss has been a little successful because I fit into Dimaondback with absolutely no help from any of the ride attendants. Love this rollercoaster, but still does not beat The Voyage for me... 10/10. 6:30 PM: Why dont we pay Sam the Butcher a visit? So after a great ride on Diamondback we all went over to The Beast, I saw for th efirst time Mystic TImbers in all of its glory, which really surprised me at how big it was! We walked on to The Beast and only waited like 5 minutes until we all got onto I believe 3-1, 3-2, 3-3 and 4-1. It was a fantastic ride...and I have the photo on my wall, cause it is such a great photo! And it truly was a great ride. 10/10. After that we all paid an unexpected visit to the Slaughterhouse. We met up with Sam the Butcher and crew! We were pulled into the Slaughterhouse and things enfolded their! But I will not be mean enough to spoil what happened, but lets just say it was so great, and a great way to introduce me to haunts! 9/10. After that we met back up with Silver2005 and conitnued our merry way to Coney Mall, the sun was starting to set at this point but that didnt detrement us from having a good time! We were just about to ride Vortex but to my surprise BLSC had almost no line at all! So I stopped everyone in their tracks and we went over to BLSC.... I got on I beleive 2-1? I rode with SIlver2005, I had not ridden this ride since I think either August 16th or August 11th. It was a great ride but suprisingly a little bit jerky... a bit more jerky than I remembered and I even knocked into Silver2005 a little bit! But it was still a good ride. 7.5/10. We then went over to Vortex, on the way I sped walked with Malem and Co. I sped walked because I absolutely wanted to go on Vortex on 7-1, while Malem beat me by just a little I was able to get 7-1 It was a great ride, I always love riding Vortex in 7-1.... it is a pure joy! The airtime, everything and I am so tall I dont get any headbanging at all! So glad Vortex is still with us. 8.5/10.... by this time the sun had set. We all decided to ride WindSeeker! Some kids decided to take Magenta Lizards seat for some reason but whatever lol. It was a great ride and a nice way to start off my night at Kings Island! 7.8/10. 7:17 PM: An Xbase Xscape... So after this ride on the fantastic WindSeeker, we all decided to check out and see if Firehawk had a long line and some wanted to check out Urgent Scare! On the way their I took a nice selfie with Magenta Lizard! JubJester and his friend had come into the park and were going to wait for us at the exit of Firehawk. We got a walk on on Firehawk which surprised us all, but it was a surprise that turned into bad luck, the ride broke down as the train was stuck in the lying position, they had to restart the hydraulics and everything so all of us knew it would be a while until it started back up, so we left the ride and met up with JubJester! Malem introduced us to him member by member. They all decided they wanted to go to Urgent Scare after seeing the FOF line was entirely too long. I sat on the benches by the Dippin' Dots stand and just contemplated life for like 20 minutes, texted BeastForever (By this time it was like 7:37) about the day I had had so far and just sat their. But surprisingly while being on my phone checking out Hurricane Matthew(Or Hurricane Malem as me and BeastForever called Malem for a bit. ) and its impacts on Florida, which while impactful was less impacting than feared due to a last minute EWRC and last minute 10 mile jog east which prevented Melbourne from getting the full brunt of the eyewall. But while doing so Malem and company passed me by! They had forgotten ALL about me it seems.... so I stayed their until I got the "Where are you?" text by Malem, expecting it to be BeastForever I lifted my phone up but it was Malem, so I decided to walk down the pathway to Coney Mall but to my surprise I see Jcgoble03 walking down as well! we find each other and find out Malem and Co. Are by The Racer! So we went over their and we finally met back up with them! Wooohooo.... so I rode Red Racer with Magenta Lizard and that started a nice conversation with Liz, had not really talked to her before so it was nice getting to know her and everything! The ride was also pretty good, very smooth for a Racer ride and had some airtime, 8/10. After the Red Racer ride we all somehow converged at the point where the two exit paths converge. Then we all decided we were gonna ride Adventure Express! I bought myself a Coca-Cola and we then all continued to AE.... the funny thing is that I found out JubJester went to a rival school, Moeller and he found out I went to La Salle and then BeastForever went to St. X so tonight there was 3/4 of the GCL represented! Lol... I rode in 4-2 of AE. It was a fun ride, especially since it was now dark... the effects were working, I was happy. 8.2/10. 8:20 PM: The Interesting Walkback We all then went to Banshee since Delirium had a bit of a long line that we all honestly did not feel like waiting that long but Banshee suprisingly had a walk on mostly, we all gathered into our rows! I chose the back row with Magenta Lizard and Jcgoble03. It was such a freaking good ride... I loved it! THe back is best with Banshee though it may be a little bit rougher. 10/10. Then some people wanted to ride Drop Tower so they all went over their while I waited at the base of Drop Tower... waiting and waiting some more! Texted BeastForever and then they got off the ride.... so we all walked back to The Bat. By this time it was around 8:50, we all went to The Bat, I got the back row with Malem. It was a great rdie and very obviously I enjoyed it so much.... so so much....8.5/10. By this time it was 9:00, and we all went to the exit and to our surprise I saw MDMC01! I gave him a high five and Magenta Lizard gave him a hug which made him hilariously uncomforatble. And we all walked with them to Adventure Express but the line was too long... at this point all of us were getting very hungry. So we all decided it would be nice to go to RHOFG! So we all headed on over their... walked through International Street, and just enjoyed the sights! The park was getting more and more busy.... we all arrived their but found out there ws a 30 minute wait and theyd text us when they were ready. The train was not operating so where else should we go to? Shake Rattle and Roll of course! The Beast's line was a bit long so we all decided to opt out on that, so instead we all went on over to Shake Rattle and Roll... we waited about 20 minutes.. at this time I had not heard back from BeastForever yet, but found out we had won against St. Xavier, but was spacing out a little bit cause I was panicking that maybe he wouldnt show up or something.... I rode Shake Rattle and Roll which was a great ride. After that we went back to RHOFG. Our table had just opened up! So we all sat at our tables.... but by this time I was mostly spacing out still in a bit of a panic but of course I usually mask it very well so no need to worry guys, and it all worked out in the end. I sent BeastForever a text wondering if he was gonna be able to make it. I took a walk to the front gate and back without my phone to calm my nerves a little bit... and to redeem my FunPix gorup picture from the walk in at 6:00 PM. I dont know what it was... but like right after I got the photo... my worries and overthinking and everything just I guess completely erased itself from my mind... it was the weirdest and strangest thing!!! I came back into RHOFG with only one thing going through my mind "I think he texted me..." and sure enough... I go to my phone and BeastForever texted me. He said he is so sorry and explains the absolutely mind boggling perfect storm of events that transpired that made him late, and said that I should not worry, he will be there. Right then and there I guess it was so strange like I immediately felt better! Just happened right at that moment Beastie1980 came walking in! And then Ohiocolts came in and sat next to me.... and what followed was one fo the funniest and bizzare conversations I have ever had with anyone! We just talked about literally everything and then that Tumblr video... omg that video that got me laughing so hard I was quite literally crying ohhhhh... that was a great time.... and really brought me back after feeling down for like 30 minutes. I got the text that Daniel(BeastForever) was on his way to Kings Island, so I continued the fantastic conversation I was having with everybody. And it continued on, and all of us had just been there for over an hour and most of us were just sitting there. We all took a group photo. Some were starting to leave... I was staying... until.... October 7th, 2016, 11:13 PM EDT: "FOLLOW YOUR BLISS DUDE!! IM HERE!" -BeastForever Immediately after getting that text I said a sudden goodbye to everybody (which I feel was just a bit sudden in retrospect lol.) and immediately sped walked to the gate.... going through Planet Snoopy and texting him that I was coming and him hilariously texting me that the Apocalypse and the end of the world wont happen before we meet, and it got me very happy... So I finally breathlessly got to the Front Gate and waited their... I told him I was by the Electric Chair. Then finally at 11:17 PM he came through the gate, he waved at me and I waved back, he seemed happy to be here as was I, because I was looking forward to this moment so much!. He went through the gate and now starts the fantastic I guess 2 hours and 30 minutes I had with Daniel. Right then and there it was like a huge wave of just pure bliss washed over me... finally after two months I was seeing my now best friend again! Right then and there started our conversation and a walk and talk that would make The West Wing walk and talks and Gilmore Girls fast paced dialogue look amateur. It was like a huge crescendo of like everything we had gotten to know about each other came into one meeting... speed walking with him we decided we should do Diamondback first despite the 30 minute line. During that line it was like getting everything we had ever texted to each other out in the open, and finally discussing in person like what we thought of each of our stories and what we had been through and how life was going and everything. Quite rarely do I ever just speak so candidly about everything with somebody out in the public due to having a bit of Social Anxiety, but this was a much different case as I felt so much at ease with Daniel. Like it is great when you finally meet somebody that I guess completely gets you and where you are coming from and what you have been through and understands through it all. There is something special about that in many ways and quite rarely do I ever just want the queue line to be 2 hours so that we could continue talking for that long! My ears were having a bit of trouble that weekend for which I apologize for, but I was able to hear all about ourselves crystal clear. Earlier that day I had just found out about Daniel's favorite pop punk band, Senses Fail, which he had been foreshadowing for a while but had finally pmed me everything about it and it was just so great that I wanted to wait and hear it with him before listening to it on my own to make it even more special. Since he had also happened to agree to take me home, it all worked out great! After about like 30-35 minutes, which went by in a flash due to how much we were talking to each other, we got in line for the back row of Diamondback and quite honestly it was such a blast for so many reasons! It was my first night ride on that ride in a long time... and it got me very excited for the night ahead.... and plus Diamondback in the back is always so great!!!!! Especially riding with my best friend, it made it all so much better. 10/10 So I exited with BeastForever, continued a lil walk n talk and then got to the photo booth, wanted to buy a picture so I did and while doing so BeastForever took a look at the merchandise Kings Island was selling. It took a little bit for them to print it out but I got it! And it is currently taped on my wall in my coaster shrine. So after this ride on Diamondback we decided I guess to walk through the park! We did a whole loop from Rivertown all the way over to Racer! Again, walkin n' talkin' and just finding out more about each other.... we passed on Vortex… we continued talking…. That is what we did a lot of the time this very night. It was just pure bliss I guess being able to converse with somebody who understand where I am coming from, it made my day at Kings Island even more better than it was before… After roaming down we finally got to Racer at around 12:25 am after 20 minutes of just conversing. We decided to ride it since it had just a tiny line. We got I think like 5-2 for the ride and it was a great Racer ride... I really loved it and I think that seat is the magic seat for the ride because it is in the back row yet it is so very smooth and everything. And Daniel seemed to enjoy it as well! We continued talking on and on about what we were thinking about everything. 12:35 AM: FOLLOW YOUR BLISS on this Day To Remember… while all our Senses Fail, that is only The Story So Far. Following our bliss we went all the way over to Banshee, Daniel did not want to do Delirium and I did not want to do Drop Tower (Something that may change the next visit with you…. ) So we decided to ride Banshee, Banshee was very cool at night, unfortunately I wanted to ride in Row 1 to make this ride special because I had a feeling that this would be Daniel’s last visit to Kings Island, a feeling that turned out to be correct, but still in Row 2 , the ride was just absolutely fantastic, Daniel really enjoyed it in 2-1 while I was in 2-2. After the ride we all went over to the on ride photo booth, at this time it was around 12:45 am and I was trying to hurry up as much as I could, Malem came by and I guess him and Daniel walked on over to The Beast at around 12:52 because they didn’t want to be late, which I don’t blame them at all for, but it lead me to panic just a tiny bit because I was wondering where the hell you guys had gone!… FINALLY I got the onride photo, Daniels face was absolutely hilarious as he had this grin of pure bliss and happiness I guess. Finally getting the on ride photo, now starts the greatest speed walking of my life! I took a route from Banshee and Action Zone through Octoberfest, to IS, to the Effiel Tower and finally to the rivertown pathways by Diamondback… I was so afraid I was not going to make it at all I had I guess sped walked/maybe sorta kinda sprint? Thorugh the park. I got to the Effiel Tower by 12:57, but me still thinking of the whole 9:58 rule from this year made me think 12:58 would be the time they closed the line… I made one last mad dash towards The Beast and arrived their at 12:58, COMPLETELY out of breath. It was like I had just ran a marathon or something… I called BeastForever thinking he might not have made it somehow but I walked up the queue ramp and low and behold the whole KIC Group was standing their! They were all very perplexed and surprised to see that I had made it as all of them including Daniel thought I was not gonna be able to make it. Boy did I prove them all wrong! Is showed them the Banshee on ride photo that took like 10 minutes to print out. Finally they announced the last rides for The Beast were commencing. So I got in line with Daniel for 3-1, Beastie1980 and Ohiocolts got 3-2 and Malem and JubJester got 3-3. The ride started… we turned to the lift hill, the lift hill barely lighted while the Indian Summer night of an October continued. Sitting here next to my best friend and with a group of people that have become like family to me. I was so glad and copacetic. We were all so curious about The Beast claw that we had found to be very interesting. Me and Daniel had planned a philosophical gaze as our on ride photo pose, but he forgot about it at the last minute, he realized right at the tunnel, but it was too late, oh well! It matched perfectly, you grinning while I was pondering the meaning of the world! Then Lucas having that stupid awesome grin and Melissa just having I don’t know it was such a weird look! Lol… it was perhaps one of THE greatest on ride photos ever! We were all enfolded by the sheer intensity and enormity that was, The Beast, I have always loved the part before the second lift hill as that is when I feel most out of control. And then the second lift came and BeastForever realized fully he had missed the pose, but it was no big deal, it turned out way better than it would have, lol. Then the helix raptured us in like we have no mercy with The Beast, it was so great… and again I learned the lesson from Magenta Lizard, don’t put your hands up. The Best Beast ride I have had in a LOOONGGG time… especially with other people I care about. Epilogue for Part II: 1:24 AM EDT. “Follow your bliss….” So after this ride, we all went down the exit ramp from The Beast. I went and got 4 onride photos printed out at The Beast on ride photo station, all of which are up on my wall today. It took a while so we were all just chilling out for a little bit, it was quite interesting how the day had enfolded and everything. I followed my bliss and it all worked out in the end. The photos took a while but after about 10 minutes they were all sorted out. I got the photos in hand and we all went over to The Beast sign, I had an idea to take a group picture as that is what I thought would be great to do! So we all went to The Beast sign, we got a disgruntled security guard wanting us to leave very soon to take our photo. It was a very nice group photo and I still laugh so much at how much taller Daniel, Malem and I are compared to the rest of the group. It was like three giants and the rest of them, heck even Melissa who was standing on a curb next to me was STILL not as tall as me! I think I measured myself next to Daniel and I am just a TINY bit taller than him. So after the group photo I realized it was around 1:35 AM. The cold front that was supposed to arrive this very night was coming through, the winds were picking up to 30 mph gusts, there was a slight drizzle. Daniel and I said our goodbyes to everyone, thanking them all for the great day. We then sped walked through Planet Snoopy, then to international Street, but we both realized we needed to use the bathroom. So we went to the bathrooms at the gate. Washed up and everything and right when we were gonna leave Malem happened to pop in, we said goodbye to him and that was that. So we left to the parking lot and after like a 10 minute trek we got to the car, Got in, and Daniel set up his iPod, while I prepared for the ride home, after about 2 minutes we finally left at 1:53 am! But I realized I like really needed to blow my nose so we hilariously stopped at McDonalds, I went in just for the napkins, left abruptly, blew my nose, put it in the trash and ran back to Daniel’s car. Then we were gonna take the I-71 Exit near their but then we missed it because we were too focused on talking to each other, then we turned around at the Shell but then we were so focused AGAIN that we forgot to turn right! Lol… so we just decided to tun past KI again and take the Western Row exit southbound…. On the way home I continued my fantastic conversation with Daniel, we talked about pop punk. I FINALLY got to listen to Senses Fail…. The first song I listened to was My Fear of An Unlived Life and after that it was just an evergrowing fantastic chain of pop punk songs…. And I just LOVED it how Daniel explained each one to me and their meanings and which ones were his favorites. We were so focused again on talking to each other I missed I-275, so we just took Ronald Reagan instead. I continued talking about my thoughts on the world, what I was thinking about the pop punk music but it was around the time we hit I-75 that I was getting really tired lol, but I was still rockin’ to the music! It was the absolute perfect introduction to my now favorite pop punk band. We arrived to the McDonalds we wanted to eat at at 2:20 AM, but they had closed the dining room at 10 PM! :/ and we got lambasted by someone in a car hilariously that it was closed and me and Daniel shouted YES WE KNOW! Daniel set my address in his Garmin as “Stash” which made me laugh so much cause it would look so suspisous if my username was different lol, we drove down Colerain Avenue and were finally getting near my house. We listnened to one last Senses Fail song and then we got done with it right then and their! We pulled into my difficult driveway, the elongated s-bend. I talked with him for like 2 minutes and then I left the car, I woke up my parents by the garage door…. I waved goodbye, went to my living room and looked at his car leave (just to make sure he wasn’t having trouble, lol.), sat there…. And just contemplated the day I had just had. I followed my bliss and it all lead to this… texted Daniel Goodnight and thanking him for the great last few hours and started looking forward to Strickers Grove on Sunday ALREADY! My next part will cover my Trip Report for the fantastic blissful day I had on October 9th at Strickers Grove. THANK YOU ALL! Comments are so much appreciated! malem
Now that's a detailed trip report! It's always nice to read about friendships formed through KIC; glad that you and Daniel have connected so well. Sorry about abandoning you at Banshee's station! I think I suggested that everyone else start walking to Beast around 12:48 to make the last train at a reasonable walking pace - knowing that a few of us could go much faster. I left as late as I could to make it by speed walking, which left you sprinting through the foggy park by yourself. We were all really worried that you'd miss the train!
BeastForever
Joshua... First, I would just like to thank you for the enormous amount of time and effort you put into this Ptr, and all your Ptrs for that matter...I understand how much time they take...which is why I never really write any However, I am glad you did, and enjoyed reading every word... I would also like to say that I'm glad that the trip was everything you imagined, despite my severe lateness to the event. I had lots of fun even though I was only there for less tham 2 hours. Those Beast and Diamondback noght rides were some of the best I have ridden in a long time... And most of all, I really enjoyed the car ride home and explaining my favorite pop punk band to you. Its a shame McDonalds was closed but I can't wait to go to Skyline or somewhere with you sometime over Thanksgiving break. And thank you to who everyone else from KIC who was there...I always am glad to be in your presence! In sum, I really enjoyed this ptr and will be looking forward to part 3.
stashua123
Belated response. Now that's a detailed trip report! Thank you malem, I certainly put ALOT of time and effort into this second part..... I was even writing it during my free time during school, and almost lost it after my school computer unexpectedly died on me, but THANK GOD for autosave! I rewrote the last two parts that were lost from the computer crash and made them EVEN BETTER than they were before. It is certainly nice experiencing those said friendships that form with KIC, and I for one could not be more grateful to have connected so well with somebody else on here. You are all good, it worked out in the end for which I am glad, it was really tough making it their and I almost gave up, but I continued on! Im so glad I was able to make it though as it was a fantastic Beast ride! Joshua...First, I would just like to thank you for the enormous amount of time and effort you put into this Ptr, and all your Ptrs for that matter...I understand how much time they take...which is why I never really write any However, I am glad you did, and enjoyed reading every word...I would also like to say that I'm glad that the trip was everything you imagined, despite my severe lateness to the event. Daniel... Thank you for the thank you! Youre welcome my brother. I knew you really wanted to read this PTR and like really wanted to see what I thought of this day so I was encouraged I guess by you really wanting to see it I had a huge new spurt of motivation! This trip was everything I imagined, AND MORE! Your severe lateness did not matter in the end as no matter how big or little time we spent with each other, it was so memorable, I am so glad despite being late you and I were able to have a lot of fun together. The Beast and Diamondback night rides were truly great, and as you said I had a lot of fun on them, I cannot wait to do it again with you. I also enjoyed the car ride home as well, there seems to be a weird correlation between car rides home and great conversations and memorable times with you, 8/11, 10/7 and 10/9 ALL had memorable times that happened in your car! I really enjoyed the introduction to your favorite pop punk band, Senses Fail and like really enjoyed hearing your thoughts on it... it was a shame we did not eat at McDonalds, but yeah, as you said, we can eat at Skyline over Thanksgiving break! Or go bowling, anything you want! I cannot wait to hangout with you again over Thanksgiving break and i am using that as motivation to make it through. I am glad you really enjoyed this ptr so far, part 3 is next! I cannot wait to write it! It was very memorable that day at Strickers Grove. Thank you for that weekend, and I cannot wait until our next trip together sometime in April, and i cannot wait for our reunion over Thanksgiving break. Thank you Daniel for the feedback, I really appreciate it! I will write Part III this weekend!
stashua123
So last I left you guys off, I had just gotten home from Kings Island after the fantastic trip I had on October 7th. I was sitting in my living room watching Daniel leave and go up the street. His car disappeared into that good night. I sat there in my living room, everyone in my house in slumber, well except for my mother, I came in and talked to her for about 4 minutes after she texted me wondering where I was. I had worried her by turning off my location services to save battery for Find my iPhone. But she was surprisingly completely fine with me breaking my 2 am curfew. I then went back to my living room, wrote the post in the 10/9 meet up thread, got a text from Daniel he had gotten home safely and thanked me for the great time… I then fall asleep at around 3:30 am. A Day To Remember Part III: Strickers Grove 10/9/2016: 1:01 PM-4:43 PM 11:00 am EDT October 9th, 2016 AD (CE): Preparations So I had spent the weekend watching Hurricane Matthew on The Weather Channel. Daniel had gone to his sister’s wedding on Saturday, so I guess it was a good distractor for your best friend being busy. He can attest to this, that I was so focused on Hurricane “Malem” that I guess my OCD focused myself on that and kept me busy! I am glad you had a great time at the wedding, so very glad. So I woked up at 11 am, had gotten myself prepared for Strickers Grove, he said he was gonna be there at 12:30, so by around 12 I was showered, dressed in my Mystic Timbers Gear and everything, same outfit as before. He was runnin’ a little late, which I have grown used to by now, lol. Said he would be there by 12:50, but he was a little late, so I went and got my Nautica zip up, and the knuckle puck shirt. “Everything is Copacetic.” I was going to give this to Daniel as a Half Birthday present as his half birthday was on September 30th and I usually celebrate Half Birthdays! In my opinon, humble as it is, that shirt represented to me, saying “Everything is copacetic”, and it has become a new mantra between him and me, because saying everything is copacetic means everything is in perfect order, in the song it is heard in, it means you are pretending to say everything is fine. But with this friendship, it truly meets the definition of everything being in perfect order. He had hinted at the present I was gonna get for my brithday “Its not a t-shirt.” And “you will really love it.” So I was getting a little excited. I had been sitting on my front stoop for 10 minutes, Looked at my phone, it was 1:00. Was wondering if he was going to get here. 1:01 PM: The Danielmobile arrives. After a bunch of cars passed by(after church crowd), I saw the “Danielmobile” pull into my elongated s-bend of a driveway at 1:01 PM, he had no trouble getting up there though! I went toward car, he turned around at the top of my driveway and then stopped at my front walkway. I got in, greeted him, he apologized for being late(which you were all good) and he got his iPod all set up for the songs we were gonna listen to, all Senses Fail. “Follow your bliss…”I gave him the present, which he was very happy about getting, and then he gave me my present, the Knuckle Puck While I stay Secluded flag, I loved it so much! He was gonna give me some of his precious coaster collection, but he was understandably very nervous about messing up his “Coaster Drawer” and since it was set up in such a way, he did not want to mess up how it was set up, so I was completely understandable about it, he said he would give it to me probably at a later date, so it is all good. (DON’T WORRY! ) We drove down the street and then immediately started another great conversation. He turned on some senses fail, which we both were enjoying immensely. We took the weird way to Strickers Grove, Blue Rock which turns into a mini highway by Ronald Reagan and I-275, and then turns into a winding road, breathing in the fresh autumn air (that was NOT hopeless ) and we then crossed the Great Miami River, into New Baltimore, we continued talking…. Talking, it is what we do best. Not much had changed since Friday, but we still had a lot to talk about. We saw Strickers Grove was appearing on the horizon. He continued talking about every single pop punk song like nobodys business, he knew a lot about the genre and it definitely showed. I was so glad to be introduced to it by him and had grown to really love the genre and really could not imagine my life without it right now…. It appeared, Tornado running through its course and everything…. We got closer and realized the park was fairly crowded, but that was okay with us. Arrival: 1:28 PM EDT So we arrived at Strickers Grove. Daniel had just realized he had some Calculus homework to do before he went back up to OSU, so we both decided we would leave a little bit earlier than we were going to. But none of that mattered in the end. I was living in the now, an afternoon spent with my best friend, theres nothing better than that… we got into the VERY long line of admission, Strickers facebook had sent out a coupon for 1$ off admission and I am guessing the word got out Strickers was open as I have never seen the park this busy! While Kings Island on this day was entirely dead, that was not the case here. So we entered after waiting in line and paying with cash. The park was very busy, but it was all okay, so we continued walking down to our destiny that awaited us. This place was a hallowed place for me, I had some good memories but the last time I was here, August 2011, gave me horrible memories that I hate looking back on, it was nothing about the place here, it was about what happened there that still makes me traumatized to this day. But I came back here, triumphantly, and decided to try and make some good memories with a great person. So while being there I guess it just hit me at how tall me and Daniel were, we were like a head taller than pretty much anyone there and we sped walked through the midway, saw that the Ferris Wheel was closed, the new Drop Tower was being built, for next year, the Pirate Ship was opened which I have NEVER seen that ride opened until now. We decided after seeing Tornado had a bit of a long line we would ride the Flyers which had a relatively short line, we got on the ride and I got my own little flyer, but the clippers were so god darn confusing! I took me like FOREVER to get out of there which was just a bit annoying in my opinion. But it was still a good ride, though I wish they were a little faster so one could snap them. So after being in that tub for a minute I finally got back to Daniel, we decided we should ride Tornado. The line was a bit long, but it was all okay. The Patriots were playing the Browns and since Daniel didn’t have his phone on him, I was his own personal scorekeeper throughout! Gave him all the stats on Tom Brady and Gronk when he asked for them, he was very happy about this. We continued talking about life. 2:20 PM: A TORNADO! So after I would say 20 minutes? we got into the great seat of Tornado, 3-2. The Back seat middle row! Daniel and I fit just fine in the car though it was a little tight for the both of us, but it was all worth it. We then turned to the lift, building anticipation, then we dropped! It was pretty intense, though not as much because I didn’t get as much airtime, though that “OMG” hill was still insane, Daniel and I walked away from the ride very happy, he said it wasn’t as intense as he rememberd, something I agreed with. 5 years later and it was still a great ride. So after this, we walked down the midway, we wanted to do the train but it had a probably 45 minute + wait (!!!!!) so we continued walking down, all the rides had a long line, so we just decided we might as well try out Putt Putt! We went over, paid the 5$ and we putt putted. It was quite weird being so close to rollercoaster like the Teddy Bear and Tornado, I took a very upclose picture of the Teddy Bear and a nice picture of the Tornado. I REALLY sucked at Putt Putt, and Daniel often had to just mark off my strokes, I did my best but I was a little bit rusted on it, this one hole I made a path I never thought possible before and it made me and Daniel burst out laughing because I somehow putt putted my ball outside of the tunnel and it made it through and it was so freaking funny. And he had difficulty with this one hole where he almost rage quit, lol. The one where the hole can only be reached by putting it at a precise angle because it’s a elevated sphere hole. Then we got to the last hole which was very surprising as I made a bet that I would pay Daniel 1$ if he made it, and HE ALMOST DIDN’T! (Which looking back on it, would’ve been SO FUNNY.) But he did, but unbeknownst to me, it was pretty much set up for you to make it, so we cancelled each other out by not paying each other a dollar, which was really weird lol. So Daniel tallied up the score and he won 49-60, I still have that little score sheet written by Daniel in my room and I think I might tape it up onto my Coaster Wall or something. So after a magnificent time doing putt putt we decided since we probably couldn’t eat dinner together that we were going to eat here. The free soft drinks were a big plus! The cotton candy was pretty nice, and the popcorn was delectable, we were gonna eat at the grill but we found out the stuff there was not free so we didn’t. We sat down and literally talked for about was it 30 or 40 minutes, we talked about life, how college was going, how we were feeling about the world, how we were thinking about our lives, how college was and high school and just about everything. This weekend was SO great because we finally, finally got to talk out in person what we had been wanting to say to each other…. It was around 3:50, the park was getting EVEN MORE crowded, and it was getting a bit too crowded for our tastes. We were about to leave but I had forgotten I wanted to take a picture with him by the hand fountains. But we were at the front gate so I decided to just take a selfie with him right there. This was the first ever selfie he was ever apart of (and something that has become an inside joke for us. ) and it was a pretty great picture, we both look like we are very happy and that is exactly how I felt on this weekend, just… happy. We both looked like we had followed our bliss. And it is currently my profile picture on my Facebook and Instagram. So after that picture(Which I took two of them as I thought the first picture didn’t look good but it was about equal to how the second one was lol. ) we were about to leave, but we happened to run into Ralph Strickers daughter! I am thinking saw my t-shirt assumed correctly that we were rollercoaster enthusiasts. She talked about how proud she was of the place and told us why the Pirate Ship took so long to open and everything, and she was very glad we came out and visit. EPILOGUE: PART III We said farewell and went over to the danielmobile. Got into the car, set up ipod to continue listening to some Senses Fail, the big ol introduction that really got me pumped for the band, and has quickly become my favorite…. I can still think of all the songs we listened to and I look back with immense nostalgia for that… we accidentally inadvertinly took the long route. 128 all the way down to I-275, mostly because we were AGAIN distracted so much by talking to each other that we didn’t notice New Haven Road. (I swear that seems to be a general theme with us, we distract each other so much we get lost… LOL.) Took I-275 and then we exited at Colerain Avenue, he toured me around his old neighborhood which was really cool and really provided more insight into who Daniel was, then I showed him my old neighborhood I lived in until 2011, he enjoyed looking at the neighborhood and hearing how I grew up. We had continued talking, it was all just so great. It was kind of weird we came of age in a freakishly similar way by moving from each others childhood homes, and we both yearn and pine for those days…. Something that really surprised me. I found out more about Daniel this weekend than I ever thought possible. We had been driving around for more than an hour, but he really had to get home by 5 PM, so we drove to my house. I was dreading a little bit saying goodbye to him as I knew at the very least I would see him on Thanksgiving, but it was all very cool. He enjoyed the present and I enjoyed the gift I got from him, and I had probably the best weekend of my life. Nearing the house, I started saying my goodbye, we pulled in at about 4:43 PM into that elongated s-bend, so achingly bittersweet in many ways. I talked with him for about 2 minutes, I said my goodbye with our little special secret handshake, got out, he honked at me jokingly, I waved at him back, said goodbye and got into my house, I looked out that living room, watched his car leave and felt bittersweet, so bittersweet. Little did I know that I would feel even more nostalgic in present day about this day. Then I sit in my bed, and take a nap…. Letting the thoughts of this weekend enfold me. I look back on this weekend, and I feel such immense nostalgia for it, I feel like I cannot wait to see my best friend again, which a reunion that will be great, while I saw my other KICers again at Closing Day, this weekend was special because it finally really set within me that I have a best friend who will always stand by me and really made me think of how much my life has changed since august 18th, and this weekend proved to me that…. Again…. BeastForever(Daniel), thank you for always being there for me, for being the best friend I could ever ask for, for being one of the best people I have ever met. You introduced me to pop punk and then that weekend you introduced me to a band I can literally not see myself not listening to anytime, Senses Fail, your avatar which I was always so curious about finally was all cleared up and it all made sense! I cannot thank you enough for being the best friend I could ever ask for, never would have I thought somebody from this website could ever be such great friends with me. I followed my bliss and it all lead to this… for the both of us this will be the last amusement park visit this year barring some miracle. But it will not be the last time I see you this year, and Thanksgiving cannot come soon enough…. I dedicate this PTR to the very member that made it all happen, BeastForever. Thank you x 400404 quadrillion my brother. I cannot wait to see you again and thank you so much for being the best friend I could ever ask for. Thank you buddy, here are the two pictures we took there, below. And with that, after a whole month of writing and planning, ends my 3 Part Pleathora of a PTR… Thank you to everyone who made this weekend special…. Thank you KIC for making writing 10,000 word essays enjoyable to write. THANK YOU…. <drops mic> END OF PART III/III
