It got stuck at the top for about 15 minutes. Then it took 5 - 10 minutes to get it lowed down (they were lowering it slow) Exhibit "A" why I've likely taken my last WindSeeker ride. Not sure the average lifespan of a Steel Coaster, BUT- Vortex is approaching 30 years of age.

They are going towards the kids more than the teenagers and the adults. I MEAN A LOT MORE Don't know if I completely agree. Rides installed in the last few years (among others): - WindSeeker (not for "kids") - Banshee (not for "kids") - Diamondback (not for "Kids") - Soak City expansion (maybe for all, but not exclusive to an age group) - Dinosaurs Alive (meh, OK, once a year for kids- kind of a sleeper otherwise) The last major update to the Snoopy area was in the transition from Nick U... and they are mostly the same rides only with new names. So the last major addition kid-wise was between 8-10 years.

Warren County (Public) Records show the same owner since 2009, OHMI Investors, LLC. So, no ownership change recently. My wife and I stayed there in December 2004... was sort of underwhelmed of the experience. Dirty carpet, floor boards in dire need of replacement. Did n't live in Cincinnati at the time and expected the Kings Island "Resort" to be a bit more than it was.

As someone who has spent an inordinate amount of time in Nick Universe, Planet Snoopy, Hanna Barbera land, or whatever they'll call it next time around- this area has largely untouched since the NU expansion of 2006. Yes, in 2009 they put planes on the Blue's Clue ride, repainted everything, and renamed everything (again), it's largely been unchanged. Over $60 million spent in other areas (not counting Dinosaurs Alive)... $5-10 million in that area would go a long way- to what I'm not sure; but the area hasn't been touched in years.

tested at the park on Sunday- you can snap a picture of your pass barcode on a smartphone, and at least at KI- because they have 3D scanners, it recognized it. It isn't an app- but just a good, clear picture of the pass barcode. Scanned at the Snoopy Boutique, worked as expected. Passes at a certain park (not KI or a CF park) in the US will be able to be used as an in-park debit card in 2015. You will go online and buy park "credits" and use them at most park POS kiosks. Mom and dad can send son or daughter to park with only their Pass (or smartphone) and manage their credit balance from their home or office.

that was a $1.1 billion (with a "B") project. KI wouldn't be to scale and it may happen someday-- but it would be in the millions to create the infrastructure to support it. Disney utilizes the RFID technology through it and generates data upon unbelievable guest data. KI doesn't have the need to analyze guests to that level. The only reason they would do it is for customer experience to this point... Guests aren't going to flock to the Island for free wifi. They may, I doubt it though.

Agreed. I think most know also that as bright as some tend to be (no sarcasm intended), the ride opp's are by no means "Rhodes Scholars" (sarcasm implied). They are likely to make errors in judgment when it comes to safety concerns. They are mostly HS and College age students on a summer job not a career.

It's sad that KI even has to deal with this. As stated, this is for the safety of the guest and others first and foremost. I think someone else said it best earlier- if something were to happen, they'd likely sue also. I think parks in general do as much as they can to reasonably accommodate people with disabilities- but you can't compromise safety in that accommodation. Extreme case: under this scenario- since I have the occasional digestive issue but still enjoy WindSeeker, I am going to present a law suit for them to install restrooms at the top of the tower in the event nature calls while I'm 300' in the air. Or, I have back issues- so I can enjoy The Beast like everyone else- they need to install Lazy-Boy like seats to coddle my stack of ruptured discs... or I could take my safety into my realm of responsibility- and just stay off the rides that may cause the trouble. Breaking the law.... our constitution gets sooooo abused and convoluted that it is almost comical. There are laws to protect those with disability from being able to earn a living or attain certain rights. Riding Roller Coasters is not a right. The constitution allows for each citizen of this kindergarten called the United States "Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness"... not life, liberty, and happiness.... it is the pursuit of. No where does it guarantee that you will always be happy.

I'll never forget the day that Cedar Fair purchased Paramount Parks. I, like many others, totally didn't see that coming.how you feel f Disney, Universal, Merlin Entertainment, Parques Reunidos, Six Flags, or Herschend Family Entertainment bought the Paramount Parks? Disney and Universal wouldn't entertain the thought- not familiar so much with Merlin- though without looking them up, might be a slightly different industry. Parques/Palace- most of their parks have a much smaller footprint, and heavy on FEC's in the US- though a number in their LA offices were PP transfers from Knott's. Six was already in the midst of a death spiral. Herschend would have been an interesting proposition, given that a number of "PKI" folks ventured south to Pigeon Forge. My guess is that is CF hadn't bought, they would have been broken into smaller "chunks" for sale and a Blackstone-type investor would have bought in part or whole.

Screaming... DJ- that's why these discussions in general are frowned upon in these forums. There's no happy ending and it causes a negative tone on an otherwise benign Park site. If there is a thread with a discussion I have a strong opinion on that some hold dearly... I avoid it. This is one of those topics that, for this site, all should agree to disagree- and for the most part, leave it at that. There is a time and place for this debate, KI Central is likely not that place.

I don't know where this fits- so since this is a topic geared to 2015, I'll put it hear (and let the others dump on me because I posted in the wrong thread). Two suggestions: 1) We have guests from out of town that want to go to the WaterPark while in Cincy. Not big thrill riders. Would there ever be a time where KI would consider developing a Soak City "only" ticket. Not mess with any of the other pricing, but create a ticket that is just for the WaterPark? 2) For the souvenir cups... upon the initial sale, bump it up $0.50'ish, and make the refills $0.94 instead of $0.99 (+7% sales tax=$1.06) so that those paying with cash don't have to go around with a pocket full of change... easier to count bills instead of pennies anyway.

would probably renew without the "perk." The funny part of it is that Sunday's in the Fall are a lot like it was today. <5 min. wait for just about everything. This is one of those hopes for "high perceived value/low cost (or in this case no cost)." The preview day... possibly a good deal though I don't sense that anything "new" is coming, which is fine... they outdid themselves with Banshee. Maintenance, sprucing up, and fixing things- could be the "new" attraction next year unless I missed something (and while I'm at it, have they given up on fixing broken props/music in Boo Hill?).
