Possible route scenario meet at Kings Island after 6pm ish. Meet and give out info enjoy the park. Everyone on their own fist night meet at 6-7am for ride to Cedar Point spend whole day there and stay over night. Next day same thing 6-7 am then onto GL spend the whole day there board bus to return trip to Kings Island. Also maybe a separate trip to Great Wolf Lodge & Kings Island should be done for opening day weekend for Kings Island

In my opinion there are a lot of college students that would be involved with the trip you may want to go for a low price on hotels. Also if your from the Cincinnati area look up charter bus services in the phone book and just call believe me they want the opportunity to get your business. Tell them sometime in June and 2-3 days and a basic route, see what that gives you. O’matter what it will be cheaper and safer for everyone to take a bus. If you would like to PM me with your contact info I can get more into detail. If any members or guest of PKI Central are interested in this trip now would be a good time to show interest, by posting you interest on this thread.

Just add up what you think it would cost for tickets, hotel.1 or 2 meals, transportation, shirts (maybe a sponsor, to cover cost of shirts). Then put it out there. Another avenue to take is to contact a travel agent to take care of everything; they make a commission for the booking so they don’t charge us for the service. But sometimes with a travel agent you get less perks. You would be surprised when you tell conventions and marketing personnel that you’re shopping around, they start lowering rates and throw in perks. Bottom line they’ll give you nothing if you don’t ask for more. I have a customer of mine that runs a very large silkscreen/embroidery business and we could get some work done through them. One final thought; the first part to middle part of June is cheaper on hotel rates than in late June through late August.

I used to be a youth hockey commissioner, and one of my duties was making travel arrangements for 1-3 teams every week. I think the bus idea is a great idea and would keep everyone rested and together. Also most hotels if you ask and you reserve more than 10-12 rooms will put your groups name and message up on their marquee and with a little persuasion they will throw in a hospitality room for no charge. I also think if you could do a projected cost analyses for the total cost of the whole trip, I think you may get a more serious commitment from everyone.

Good job looks like a future souvenir, count one 10 for me.

I understand having a few water rides around at different parts of the park helps keep the guest cool on hot days. Especially at Kings Island since there are only a couple misty cool stations that don’t work properly. I personally don’t like to be wearing my regular clothes and get drenched from the water rides, then walk around in wet clothes for several hours. A observation that I have noticed is a lot of people that go over to Boomerang Bay and don’t being swim attire so they wait on the others that they have came with and look absolutely miserable if they are not in the shade. So my idea and it’s only my idea, and I have not thought all the way thru it, would be to have a path from Boomerang Bay to White Water Canyon and move Congo Falls to the waterpark area. That way everybody would have swim wear on and for those who didn’t bring some would at least have something to do to keep cool while they waited for their party. Then Kings Island should add and fix up existing cooling stations. For the comfort of their guests. I’m not saying this is or not realistic but it’s just an idea I have played with.

I have been reading a large variety of trip reports over the last year or so on PKI Central. So I decided to start this Poll. It seems to me that trip reports that include photos are very popular, so I did not include photo trip reports in this Poll. Please add what you like, dislike or would like to see in a trip report.

I glad you and your family had such a good time on Sunday, even though it was more crowded than what you are used to. I noticed you didn’t mention that you did any shopping or buy any merchandise. How is that possible? As a family man myself I find it almost impossible not to walk out of Kings Island with at least something o’matter how much I say not today.

Well I have been going to Kings Island since 1972; I was almost 8 years old. There is in no way that I could only pick one favorite memory, because each and every great memory comes with a wonderful story and I would not trade one for the other. It would take me days to type every great memory with a related story to go with it. Besides I don't think anyone would want to read a post that long. I;ll start by typing out some great memories at Kings Island then start telling a story about the first great memory. If anyone would like me to tell about one of the great memories on the list before the others just let me know. Also this might make it so that I would haft to double post, to be able to keep the stories apart. So I hope you all don't mind. MY Kings Island GREAT MEMORIES LIST; 1) First trip to Kings Island, My Grandfather brought everyone 2) Twenty-man Indian war canoe trip 3) Old Train trips with onboard interactive live shows 4) Rivertown live shows 5) First trip without parents 6) First trip with a girlfriend 7) Going with work friends in our early 20’s 8) Stepson being called up to the Nickelodeon Theater Stage 9) Watching my daughter on her fist trip 10) Watching my mother with her grand-babies 11) Will add more later Well I'll start with were it all began: Kings Island sometime in the summer of 1972 My Grandfather who was a teamster truck driver and drove a route daily past Kings Island. As he drove by everyday he watched the progress and the birth of Kings Island from the interstate, So he decided to take the whole family including his wife 2 daughters, his son and 6 grand children at that time. This was an extremely rare occasion. Well I being from Indianapolis and my house sat almost right next to the Indianapolis 500 3rd turn, I had no idea what to expect so arriving at Kings Island was like walking into another world. I'll try to keep to my grandfather, he was what you would say an old fart!! He loved his beer and spent little time with his family but loved us dearly. So he paid for all us to get in, everyone took pictures and we all marveled at the International Street and the spectacular fountain under the Eiffel Tower (keeping in mind this was in 1972). He quickly gave all the parents some money and sent us all on our way, because his first stop was going to be the Oktoberfest Der Alte Deutsche Bier Garten to belly up and swap stories with the other old farts. After a short while we meet back up with him and we were so excited and were telling him stories about what we had been doing earlier in the day at the park, (next is one of the great memories) I never seen that man smile and have such a proud look on his face, he had that look like he was going to get the grandparent of the year award. I'll never forget it in all my life, I can still see it as if he was sitting right her next to me now. He decided to take a ride with us, and since we were right next to the Swiss Sky Ride that went across the park that's where we were going, plus he could ride right back!! I was in the same Swiss Sky Rider car as he was, and when we got to the higher part and at one of switch poles he started to sweat and gripping the hand rails real tight. We didn't know if it was the alcohol so we asked him if he was ok and he answered with (another great memory) the following I'm so scared and my ass is so tight that I couldn't sh*t a BB right now if I wanted!!!! Well me being almost eight years old, and hearing him say that was pretty big stuff and very funny. Needless to say he didn't ride back but instead opted to walk all the way back to the Der Alte Deutsche Bier Garten and the rest of us went on with the rest of our day. I'll pick another great memory soon and expand on it. I hope you all enjoyed the first one as much as I enjoyed reminiscing about it.

I like riding The Beast at night too! Three reasons why are; First of all it seems like the lines always a walk-on in the late evenings. Second I like to feel the sudden drop of temperature in the low lying areas. Third is it just seems more faster in the late evenings.

^Pretty cool. They do make you wish you could have of seen them in thier glory days.

^^^ That’s what I love about this forum, We usually get every side of the story . The informed, the uninformed and the factual, the I’m guessing. The one thing that we are never short of is the personal opinions!!

Every park has its place! Glad you got to enjoy Camden Park despite the rain.

Lion Sleeps Tonight; I see that you are relatively new to PKICentral and I don’t know how long you have been visiting the forum as a guest. But Please don’t take everything that some here on the forum says to heart and personal. Some posters try to add a little wise crack every now and then to keep things fun. I have had a few wise cracks directed towards me at times. I deserved it, I learned from it and continued to post and now enjoy a cleaver wise crack as it gets a little too serious here at times. Now as for the age comment I think it is totally irrelevant what anybody’s age here is. In my opinion every age group has a different perspective and outlook to the park and to this forum. Every age group has something special to offer to it. Because of that it makes this forum truly unique as it allows everyone to see a different perspective other than their own. I enjoy the curiosity of the young, the eagerness of the young adults and the been there done that of the older something’s. I look forward to reading future post from you.

Some pics and video of the former Americana
Avatar replied to ZosoBeast's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I hate to admit to this but it’s been about 30 years since I’ve been there and I only went once. I used to try to remember the details of the park but as more years go by and only have visited it once, about all I can remember now is that I had visited it once. Thanks for sharing your photos with us, it’s always nice to visit our past especially when it includes the young one’s. Were have I heard this before; lets do it again dad!!! -
I agree, we really enjoy seeing the characters walking out and about too. I had a brief conversation with one of the minders escorting Patrick last Sunday, and from her answers they (characters) really like getting out to see the younger guests. They also like not hafting to compete for the attention of the younger guests from the other characters at the Nick Theater Meet & Greet. I’m happy to hear that you are able to make it over to Kings Island as often as you have, considering the distance that it takes for you to get there.

If any one is interested In a 8;10 minute video featuring The Great Wolf Lodge in Mason OH and featuring the new general manager Jim Metzger. Go to this link . or go to this link and then click on the "watch the WTDN hard hat news link" about the middle of the page. It was shot on location by Dayton, Ohio’s National Broadcasters Corporation (NBC) Channel 2 News On Your Side, Sunrise edition on August 10, 2006. About 2;55 minutes into the video Jim Metzger says that they are going to open very quietly on December 07, 2006.

Well if its only testing for the investigation then Kings Island and the state of Ohio should be made aware that there is some guests that would be willing to ride the Son of Beast and not hold them responsible, if anything should go wrong. That way they could do a more thorough and complete realistic investigation. I am not one of those guest.

Thanks for finishing your trip report it really sounded like you all were very busy and on the go the whole day. Now I understand why you said you were sore from the first part of your trip report.

You know if Kings Island would let us PKI Central folks know when they were planning to reopen the Son of Beast, I would venture to say alot of us would go to show support for our beloved freind. Maybe a Fall meet, greet and support!!

One day was Father's Day and the other was also on a Sunday and both were first thing in the morning. I Didn't know we could buy tickets, then come back later in the day. Thanks, good to know!!

I've seen sling shoot down to $5.00 this year twice. At the time I was in a rush so didn't take advantage of it. But next time I see that price, I'll just haft to stop and smell the rush of air.
