I'm not any type of expert on Cedar Point. (CP) But I have learned several tips. Guests do not have to park and enter the Main Entrance. There is a parking lot near Soak City. The "Resort Entrance is often empty during the 10am opening. You can be in the back of the park before anyone else and ride those rides with very few other riders back there. Once your finished work your way to the front of the park. Actually working your way against the crowd flow. Lots of guests run toward Millennium and Maverick but there as some who will meander on the way back to the park riding rides like Raptor and the flat rides along the way. Eat before you get into the park at your hotel or McD's or DQ which is near the cos way. Try to schedule lunch at a different time than the crowd. Speaking of Soak City this water park in my opinion is not a "whole day" park. It is a diversion and a way to cool of a bit. But in by no means will it draw away the crowd like you will see at Holiday World or Kings Island. Many hot days you'll see as many or more guests in those water parks during the heat of the day than the "dry park" But I digress. As I posted earlier. CP has an one hour early entry policy for resort guest. You can avoid some of the crowd by stay onsite. I think on the days you've chosen CP is usually crowded. The best time of the season according to workers I've talked to is in late May the 1st two weeks in June and later in the season of course late August and Sept. Cedar Point puts on a fairly well attended Halloween themed season as well. CP as a lot of posters on this forum have written Cedar Fair parks in general are very expensive to eat in. I found a all you can eat buffet inside the park which was fairly reasonable for a family of four Midway Market inside the park near the main entrance. And I thought I had some short waits the week of the 20th! Wow! My shortest wait for TTD (excluding the nighttime ERT session on the 23rd) was 20 minutes. (Which reminds me: I need to make time to finish composing my own CP trip report.) To explain "Dragster- only 10 min wait" I was staying inside the park which affords those resort customers one hour early admission. However TTD is not one of those rides that run early. Tuesday we hit Millineum and Maverick early the following day we woke up just a tad be later, lollygag towards TTD while all the other folks were going to the early ride offerings. When Kate Smith finished "God Bless America" I was right there in line with about 30-50 other riders.

The family, wife (non-rider) and 2 kids; 8 yr old daughter 52" and 13 yr old son traveled to Sandusky this past week. Tuesday's crowd in the park was moderate however Wednesday crowd appeared to me to be large. We stayed inside the park at Sandcastle Suites. My daughter was able to ride all the rides except Raptor, Witches Hat and Mantis, she decided to wait until the next trip to ride Millennium but wanted to ride Maverick even though she was told Maverick was probably a more rougher ride but she enjoyed it. She also rode Magnum and was impressed by the airtime hills on the return to the station. My son rode a new ride for him since our last trip Disaster Transport wasn't running; he loves Millennium and knocked out several rides on it. We were able to ride every coaster in the park in two days with the exception of the kiddie coasters this year which were covered on the last trip. One of the highlights was getting the wife on Wildcat. She really doesn't like to ride but in a good act of acquiescence she rode it and seemed to smile a bit. CP Mine Ride- meh Dragster- only 10 min wait; over in less than 2... Mantis - nice elements Raptor - very nice - long wait - worth it. Blue Streak - classic and nice air. Corkscrew (ouch ) Mean Streak (double ouch). Iron Dragon - nice family ride. Millennium is just a dream to ride and worth the 5.5 hour trip from Kentucky. This is will probably be a semi-annual trek for us as we visited in 2009 (similar 2 day trip) and was fairly intimidated by the size and scope of the place. This year we were able to navigate it using the different gates and resort shuttles from our hotel. As well as using the train and sky lift. I still believe CP food prices are a little over the top in most stands. But with a little browsing you can find a decent meal and at a reasonable price; fed four with drinks all you can eat for $50.01, in Midway Market inside the park near the main entrance. Perhaps I'll be able to post some pics of the resort in a few. I didn't take many pics inside the park... I'm there to ride. America's Roller Coast - Ride On

I'll have to agree with the above post. The water park is by far the biggest draw. Try to behave the exact opposite the crowds. I don't think the early entrance is the key. Going where the crowds aren't is the key to having a good day at HW. With the new Timberline trains installed on The Voyage they were using one of the trains from one of the older coasters (I think The Raven) which kept that coasters capacity down last season, that problem should be alleviated this season. The lines flowed fairly well in the afternoon in the dry part of the park. Try to schedule lunch differently than the rest of the guest as well.

I'll be interested to do my own costs analysis between HW which I visited last week and KI that I have not visited in two years. If memory serves a large cheese pizza cost $19 at HW; it was not in any way a good comparison as to taste as the holy grail of pizza served at KI. Tues./Weds LaRosa here I come!

KI has been having problems with I-Street/Fountain Cam for several weeks now, which is a shame I really enjoyed watching folks take pictures of themselves in front of the fountain, a family tradition for us as well. I really never saw The Racer cam work other than a static photo. The DB cam works very well, probably one of the best cams or perhaps the only cam on a actual working roller coaster that I can find, so Kudos to the park for that piece of hard work. I was wondering, I have not been since DB's construction it is hard to gauge the area without having actually been there. The shot of the queue line and also it looks like silver picnic tables, can a person look at that and tell how many folks are in that area or in the line? I'm heading up to the park tomorrow and Wednesday. I can't wait to ride DB!

I think I heard on a podcast either Coasterbuzz or Season Pass,(yeah I'm a geek) an interview with Mr Koch who stated that he one evening walked out to Thanksgiving area of the park and was imagining that it would be somewhat in the middle of the park one day. I hope his dreams become reality and the Koch family keeps that special atmosphere not often found it other corporate parks.

Thanks Phantom, I have never driven off the lot once I have gotten there, the last 5 times I've avoided parking at KI altogether. $10 for parking is pretty outrageous.

Hands down LaRosa's Pizza is the best meal in the park in my opinion. I'm wondering about re-entry to the parking lot, how does that work?

The wife enjoyed the Dive show and the Contemporary Christian music show very much. We're heading to KI next Monday and Tuesday.

Very crowded, I think part of the reason some folks just took an extra day off after the holiday. We are going next Tuesday/Wednesday to KI, hopefully we'll miss some crowd there due to it being mid-week. Unlike Cedar Point, last year I learned it really doesn't matter when you go there, while sometimes one can get lucky at KI. I was kinda shocked to learn of the 9:30 closing. I would have loved to have ridden The Legend while completely dark.
