  1. We are 8 hours away and plan to go for 3-4 days so the season pass would save us money from what I understood. I was asking questions here because I was under the impression that you could do that on forums. I ask the question in a second post because I figured someone may know the answer who had not read the first post and since the question was ask in a reply I though it woud be best to ask it in a seperate post. My bad - I just didn't want to make the long distance call.
  2. We did that in 2004 but I didn't know they still did that. Will they start selling next years passes in Aug? Will I be able to get one and use it this fall and again next year? We are going the second week of aug. so that would be great!
  3. We are planning a trip to KI in a couple weeks and it seems we can only get reg season passes but we were also hoping to come back in Oct. Will we be able to use reg season passes to get into fearfest for a weekend or will that cost extra?
  4. :(Bummer we are going this summer so waiting for next years pass will not work. was hoping for the extra discounts. If I get the regular pass will I still get into fearfest for free?
  5. Well we are heading back to KI! Our last time there was in 2004! I was looking at the website this week and I can find links to the benefits of a gold pass but can't seem to find a link to buy a gold pass. Anyone have any idea where to get one? My how things have changed in 6 years!
  6. Well the plan is to arrive Sun. June 20 and leave Fri the 25th early in the day so we wouldn't technically be there on the 26th. We may even leave Thursday. We wanted to hit the Toledo zoo on the way home. So if we weren't there on the 26th it may not be so bad you think???
  7. We are planning a trip to PKI and are thinking about staying at TownePlace Suites Cincinnati Northeast . Does anyone know anything about this place. I am just looking for clean and safe. I am thinking about coming the last week in June but just found out that's The Beast's BA-day. Do you think that will pack in the people a lot more? It's either the last week in June or the first week in August. Which would you recommend for smaller crowds? Thanks for the help.
  8. Oh I still have to stand in those lines with his brother! The little guys just stays with dad while we do. Last year we sat in FOF for like 45 min as next in line after a 45 min stand in line because of some trouble with a bar you can hold onto during the ride if you want. My big kid went on delerium by himself during and early entry one morning and once during walk on Wed. The lines were always too long while Dad was with us to do something with the little guy. But I stood in line with hime more than once for tomb rader and face off. I hope we get as lucky as we did last year. It seemed like the park wasn't too bad the week we went and we really had a great time. The kids are really looking forward to going. Now I have to start surching for a place to stay. Last year we stayed at the KI hotel and conf. center but DH's worked paid for it because he was in town on business. I didn't think it was all that nice for the money they want and plan to try someplace else this year.
  9. Thanks for the input. I did plan on going Sun. PM through Thurs. or maybe Fri. but we did want to hit the zoo too so we will kinda play that by ear. Last year we were there I think the first week in Aug. while my DH was on business. The kids and I went during the day and met him for supper every night. He came back to the park with us a couple times and we stayed at the hotel a couple times to swim and watch TV. ( we don't have cable at home so it was a treat for the kids) It didn't seem too busy then but I just wasn't sure when I wanted to go this summer and I don't want to plan to go during a busy time. This is something we will have to plan ahead for because we live in MI so we can't just wait for the weather forecasts to decide. Thanks for the help, see you at the park!
  10. Thanks for the input. I did plan to go Sun. PM through Thurs. maybe Fri. We will play it by ear but kinda wanted to hit the zoo too. I was just wondering what time of summer is best. Thanks also for the height requirements. Looks like my boys can ride eveything in the water park! That is always a big concern with my very daring 7 yr old. He is so dissapointed when he can't ride something. I feel so bad for him. He really wants to ride all the cool stuff his Brother does. We went to PKI last summer and his Fav. ride was SOB, but he really wanted to try faceoff and delerium. He was a little bummed about tomb rider and FOF but he couldn't see them so it wasn't as bad. And chocolate dippin dots helped Thanks again!
  11. I am planning a trip to KI for this summer and was wondering when the best time to go would be. It will have to be between mid June to early August and I would like to go when it will not be too busy. We have gold passes and plan to stay for a week. I was also was wondering when the gold card special days for the summer will be out. I see the days for April and May are out but I am wondering about June July and August. I do not want to be there on a bring a friend free day but would like to be there on a day when you get into Action Zone early. I am also wondering if anyone has the height requirements for the new water park rides. Thanks for your help

  13. Nope no problems with the metal dectors. I took the camera out of my bag so it never beeped and they never searched my bag. The lines there were not too bad either. The only thing I found strange was that you had to have your hand stamped to return even though you have a season pass. I was told it had something to do with them not wanting you to go for part of the day and then give your pass to someone else to get in but I thought that was the point of the photo ID. It was kinda a hassle to wait in line to get out and back in again because everyone has to go through the same line. Oh well we had a great time anyway. Hopefully we can make it back next year. BTW - I forgot to mention how much the boys and I loved The Racer! We only did it forward once but we did it backwards a bunch of times! I think that may have been a Fav. for me! No lines, not to ruff and so much fun! I am actually black and blue from The Beast! But it was fun anyway. Rode that several times too. We rode all the costers several times. I do love costers.
  14. I'm back from my week at PKI and just wanted to thank everyone again for all the advice. Things worked out great. We got to the resort at about 4:30 so I bought tickets through the resort and got in free after 5 Sunday night. There were no lines so we rode all the coasters that evening. Monday I took my tickets and after we got in the park turned them in for season passes and upgraded to the gold. So I saved $30 and have season passes for next year as well with all the gold card benifits!(which we loved!) A way better deal than what I was planning to do! Thank you all so much!!! Also the free water thing was the best! We did buy the refillible Scooby cup but just had it refilled with water all week. It was easier to carry around than the paper cups and with 3-4 of us we went through a lot of water! My little guy loved all the rides and was not afraid at all. He was bummed he couldn't ride some of the stuff his brother got to but he rode Vortex, The Beast and SOB several times! He also absolutely loved the drop zone!!! The SOB was Down Mon., Tue, Wed., and half of Thurs.! We were so glad we got to ride it Sun. Because we were afriad we wouldn't get to ride it again but it opened Thurs. afternoon and we rode it a couple times more. One emplyee told us she thought it had been hit by lightning and they couldn't get power to it. Over all at least one of us rode everyride in the park with the exception of some of the kiddy rides and congo falls. That was never open when we were in Action Zone. We saw the slime show and the magic show and enjoyed them both. The kids didn't really enjoy the water park and only wanted to go one day. The water park at the small amusement park near us is much better and I think they were kinda dissapointed with this one. Aslo at the park we usually go to you can ride the lazey river as long as you like and play on the pirat ship as long as you like and that kinda bugged the boys. The stuff is kinda two spred out at the PKI water park too. You have to walk forever from one ride to the next. At the place we usually go to the enterences to the water rides are kinda close to the same spot with the lounge chairs in the middle for the parents to sit on and wait if they like. There are two areas like that, one with big slides and one by the kiddy area. It also has two wave pools and the waves are bigger in them. The one thing I really likes about PKI's water park is the convayer for the raft you use on the family waterslide. At our park you have to roll or carry that big family raft up a bunch of stairs! What a pain! We didn't go to the park on Fri. at the advice of many of you due to it being bring a friend day. We went to an air force museum in dayton and everyone really enjoyed it. We did drive past PKI at about 6 pm and there were so many people that cars were parked on the grass at the end of the parking lots by the road! I was so glad we didn't even attempt it that day. Thank you for that tip! We left the resort Sat. morning and went to a flea mrkt. just north of PKI on 63 I think it was for a while and then headed home. Got in last night and was so happy to be home and the dog was happy we were home too. So thanks again - you had great tips and saved me a bundle to boot! Hopefully I will be back again next year now that we have 2004 season passes! ( I still can't believe how well that worked out for us!) - Missmolly

    Tips?

Well we are all packed and ready to go! We leave in the morning. I called PKI this afternoon and the lady told me I could get tickets at the hotel and they have the free night before ticket we could use for tomorrow night and then on monday we can turn in our tickets and put them twards the price of the new season pass so that will work out perfect! She also said that we would have a choice between a reg. pass or a gold but didn't say the difference in price. Anyone know how much more they usually cost? I want to say thanks one more time - you have all been great and very helpful. The kids are very excited and we are planning on having a great time! Even though the weather is saying rain! Thanks again - Missmolly

    Tips?

The gold pass sounds great but if we wait until Monday then my hubby will not be with us. He is busy all day Mon. and won't be able to join us until Tue afternoon. Also we were hoping to go to the park for a while on Sunday. It looks like we won't be going to the park on Friday so I don't really want to scrap Sun. Too. Bummer because that Gold pass would have been great. :0( Oh well. I wish I had more time to plan all this. We pack tomorrow and hit the road early Sunday. Can I get a family pass when all the family members are not with me? Someone mentioned earlier something about buying a one day ticket and then using that to upgrade to a seson pass - is there a way I could pay for Sunday and then on monday pay the diff. and get the gold passes? And that would be without my husband present. I'm guessing I had better just get the season passes on sunday and be happy the motel is paid for!

    Tips?

First let me say thank you for all your advice. You are all so friendly and helpful. Well it sounds like we will have plenty to do. I think we may skip Friday as it sounds like that will not be worth my trouble and we will have allready had 4 days of fun pluse a couple hours on Sunday. How expensive are the lockers at the water park? There is a small park about an hour from us that we go to every year. It has both rides and a water park and we usually go there every year and spend the morning on the rides, the afternoon at the water park and the eveings back on the rides. I was kinda thinking I would go that route and just pack towels in a backpack with my camera, wet wipes, bandaids and such. That is how we do it here but like I siad it's a small park that can be easily done in one day. Do you think it would be better to plan one day for the water park and other days for just the theme park? I am also wondering if PKI has a refilable cup deal where you pay a little extra for the souvenir cup but can have it refilled at any stand in the park for a better price? That is usually a fairly good deal and if we are going to go for several days in a row I think I may try that. We are not too used to long long lines either. The park we go to here has lines only 15 - 30 min. I am a little worried how the kids will handle long lines. When we went to disney we lucked out and had mostly short lines and used the fast pass for the long ones. Thanks again!

    Tips?

Thanks for the input. I was thinking that if we buy season passes and we are going to be at the resort for the week that we might go the the park for a while each day. Do you think there would be enough to do for the kids? I thought we could even spend some time in the water park each day? Is this a good plan or does anyone else have a better idea? Maybe we should just by two day passes and only go a couple days?

    Tips?

Hi - My hubby has invited me and the kids to go with him on a business trip where he will be staying at PKI Resort! So the boys and I will be spending the week at the park and he will join us in the evenings. I have only been to PKI twice in my life once I think in 79 or 80 and once in 87. We have been to Disney and Universal one time - (in 2000) and have been to a small park here in MI a few times but do not have much experience with big parks. I would really appreciate any tips anyone would like to give me. We are getting the Family season pass and it will usually be just me and two boys 7 & 12. My seven yr old is just 48" and I am hoping brave enough to ride the stuff his brother likes. We will be getting in town this Sun. afternoon (we are hoping to go to the park, get our passes and ride a few rides that day)and don't have to leave until Sat. afternoon! Thanks in advance!
