Okay so Kings Dominion already has already updated their website with the new names. What I think is that the Crypt is a good name, but I think it wold of been better fitting for Kings Islands. Where on Kings Dominon's I think it would of been fine just as Firefall. Backlot Stunt Coaster is about retarded really, but we knew their wouldn't be too much creativity going on here. You know what would of made a good publicity campaign though is if each park had a name the ride contest. Heck Dollywood had a "Name the Park" contest before opening up Splash Country.

That would definitely be the funnest ride of that type ever!

While moving sidewalks would be nice I would settle for the transport tubes like on the Jetsons.

Kennywood Sold to Spanish Firm
AintNutinElse2Do replied to XGatorHead 8904's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Unless your a Native American, then you come from an immigrant. If you have doubts about the new owners check them out. They own/operate some of the best parks in Europe. Let's not forget that they are leaving a lot of management in charge at Kennywood so they'll still be people there sticking up for the park. Though I doubt the owners will have anything but good intentions for the park. Sure over the years I'm sure they will put their own touch to the park and as well they should. That's not a bad thing neccesarily, look at Herschend buying out Wild Adventures I doubt anyone thinks that's a bad move for the park. So, just like Cedar Fair's ownership here we should all really give new owners a few seasons before we jump on any bandwagon. -
hmmm... don't know why but i was thinking Thunder Road at Carowinds was named Thunder Run... oh well being that Dollywood has ALREADY had that name too I guess there may not be a future conflict with that name. Just to let you know... the motion simulator at Dollywood began as Thunder Road then was later turned into Smoky Mountain Wilderness Adventure with the exception of during kids fest which it was then either Sponge Bob (yep same show as the one at Kings Island without the 3D glasses) or Yogi's Wild Ride (yep the same one there too.... Now according to a lady in guest services earlier this year the simulator is to return to Thunder Road because it had a much higher ridership than it's predecessors... now the confirmed name for the brand new ride for next year at Dollywood is River Battle which will be a pretty cool family water ride

Dayton Theme Park?

right next to the Eiffel Tower that they are moving there right? -
About the name Thunder Road... Dollywood at one time had their motion simulator ride named Thunder Road and it's rumored to return for the 08 season... that said I would think there may be some licensing conflicts between the two

Photo Trip Report of Carowinds
AintNutinElse2Do replied to Vortex's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I personally have a Love/Hate relationship with Carowinds which I've always felt that it's owners have seen it the same way. Paramount seemed to treat it like it's "red headed step child" and I think Cedar Fair thinks the same way. That said I think the park needs much better landscaping and really needs more shade throughout. The part of the park where Scooby Doo (forgive me I forget the section name) is probably the best atmosphere area in the park. I too LOVE Top Gun but that's really the only great thing at the park for me. The other coasters are either pretty rough or at least look like a bucket of rust. So please don't kill me now but that's just my view. PS---- my view wasn't always this way at one time I would of put it ahead of Kings Island due to the variety of coasters but the lack of quality has brought me to where I am now... -
How do you rate the food service at Kings Island?
AintNutinElse2Do replied to Young Gunz's topic in KI Polls
So if the parks have to squeeze all the money they can out of guests, how do parks like Holiday World have the ability to offer so much with admission. It's not like they are losing $3.oo on every soda they give away it's probably closer to 10 cents including cup and ice. Drinks are probably the most marked up item sold anywhere. -
So here's the list if they really just don't get creative at all. Congo Falls to become Falls Top Gun to become Gun Italian Job Stunt Track to become simply Stunt Track (not too bad on this one) Drop Zone to become Drop Paramount Story to become the Story Tomb Raider the Ride to become The Ride Flight of Fear to become Fear (Nice..... though I don't think this one is affected) Wings to become W'angs Delirium (dont think this one is affected but for the fun of it) becomes Delirious (sp?) Days of Thunder to become Thunder Raceway (wish it would become extinct honestly but that's probably the name it will be) I know some of these have been said before so I'm not trying to steal anyone's thunder just putting it in list form here for fun I have no real idea what the names will become. As far as other parks I could see Borg Assimulator becoming simply Assimulator and Tomb Raider Firefall to simply Firefall etc....

Future of Coney Island, Cincinnati- our Beloved Park
AintNutinElse2Do replied to westcoaster's topic in Coney Island Central
Speaking of Stricker's Grove I wonder since it's only open 2 days a year to the public. I wonder if it we could get enough people on here to pitch in and have a KICentral day at Stricker's Grove and rent it out to us only. -

ergh, ya I just heard that news myself. Nah I don't know anything about that firm but it is indeed sad. I'm really suprised that it went to a spanish firm when it seems like there's plenty of one's here that would of loved it. I actually think had Herschend had not bought so much already this year I think Kennywood would of fit right in with their plans. I know that Kennywood was much more to their standards than say Wild Adventures (though I think WA will become much better under their realm.) Think about it then Herschend would of had both a Kenny and a Dolly Wood. -

Is there not still an issue with flooding at Coney Island? As much as I would like any park to save any historical coaster, I don't see it as a good investment if it's gonna get flood damaged often. -

I do and I don't like the idea of adding major franchises to theme parks. I like it because often the quality will be up to par of their other franchises and costs usually stay within reason. I don't like it because it's part of the continuous loss of the entire "theme park experience." Parks used to be the whole package. It used to be about the rides, the shopping, the food, and overall atmosphere. You used to be able to go to a theme park and eat something that was different from what you find outside the park. That is disappearing at many theme parks. What is unique about eating at a TGIFridays at Kings Island other than the fact where it is? Also as far as shopping it used to be that you could buy things you wouldn't see anywhere else now the shops are basically a bunch of park decals stuck on things that are pretty basic. -

Lake Winnepesaukah is the same way. Free parking then a low gate admission ($5 i think) then ride tickets or a wrist band. Anyone ever down in the Chattanooga area should check out the place it's just an old hometown park with a lot of flat rides and a great wooden coaster the Cannonball. It makes a pretty good day trip to go to the TN aquarium then spend the rest of the night at Lake Winnie. One ride of definite interest is the "Boat Chute" it's the oldest of it's kind and I think one of only two still in existence. PS- If you want a work out, try out the Fly O Planes.... I think that's the most scared I've been on any ride and not the good scared. -
actually nope.... not a fan of the pointbuzz.... i was actually just thinking about when NBC done the Green is Universal week... then i was thinking about how a certain person on Fox News was saying that they only done it for the money... well i don't think they would of done it if it was gonna lose them money... and plus i don't care why they sent the message just that the message was sent... i mean if it's a good message what does it matter why it was sent?
-
Okay, so I couldn't find the best thread to ask this question so I picked the best one I could think of. Thankfully now days more and more companies are "going green." My question does anyone know what if any efforts Kings Island is making to "go green?" Just in case you didn't know what I meant by going green I'm speaking in terms of things to help the enviroment.

^ well i didn't put Hard Rock Park because I knew it would probably get the most votes.... and more so because it's the only one of those to my knowledge that's definitely opening sometime in the future. The rest of the are in the concept or very very early construction/planning phase. Correct me if i'm wrong.

^ Your right and not right at the same time. CP and SFMM are not in the same geographic market. However during what was considered the "coaster wars" the two parks did compete with each other. In fact SFMM added 3 coasters in one year to take the title. No it didn't last long but it was at that time competition. Now SFMM has taken a different approach as well has CP... SFMM is looking to create a more friendly footprint (sound familiar) and CP is going after more of the family audience now.
