I'm really hoping that they do well with all the animals. Maybe then they will start putting animal exhibits at Dollywood and Silver Dollar City. Dollywood already has the Eagle Mtn Sanctuary but it would be nice to have some zoo type exhibits scattered throughout. On a different note I've heard that Wild Adventures will be getting rid of their "Phobia" Halloween event in exchange for more a "harvest celebration" event like DW and SDC. I myself would prefer the Phobia event but I understand it's purely a more family approach to the Harvest event.

'Paramount' Removed from Parking lot sign

Oh Contrarrrrr..... Most people I know in Cincinnati know nothing about there being a loop on Son of Beast. Heck! And that's in Cincinnati! Get outside of the area and there is virtually no one that knows of the Son of Beast loop. In through Georgia, Alabama and Florida I'm often asked by people if I've been to Cedar Point. Not once have I been asked if I have been to Kings Island. Rarely am I ever asked anything specific about a coaster. The simple fact is that the general public just does not know a lot about individual coasters. well said.... and to azkindaguy... i very much do get it... I was simply stating there's HUGE differences in the accidents as one really burns the image in your mind. A lot of people on here like to give the argument that we're mostly enthusiasts on here and not the general public. I truly believe that general public wouldn't be like "oh look at that loop, how dare they use such a statement of previous hurt to advertise." -

well since we all like to make the argument that "enthusiasts" and the general park guest are not the same people I doubt many people would realize where the loop even came from... even when someone told them a lot of people would be like "yeah right" I think the majority of people would look at it think it was pretty cool and somewhat fitting for a theme park -

i see your point... the sign could be made bigger to fit though.... jk... i can picture how it would look good in my mind but that doesn't neccesarily translate to good in person... as far as zoning goes I am in no way familiar with mason's zoning laws -

Now if only they had saved that loop from SOB.... they could of put it up with the sign in the middle of the loop. Maybe even with one of the old trains upside down on the loop. -
I would say the big reason people don't fuss about Delerium is because to most it's a much better ride. If a good ride breaks down people are a little more patient.

I like TR:TR too. Yes I do wish they would keep up the theming more and yes the ride program could be much better. That said I still think it's a good ride. I took my nephew to KI last year and that was second favorite ride next to FOF. I don't think it was the best fit into Rivertown but I never thought it looked bad there either. As far as what I think they should do with it. Rather than them put a new coaster station in 09 on swan lake. I would rather them take out TR:TR and go from there that way they could practically not have to effect any other rides while giving the new ride The Beast's into the woods oblivion effect. Now with TR:TR not there I still think they should keep it just move it somewhere else in the park. I think personally it would be nice to go in the area of Flight Commanders old pad and just keep it outside no more building around it.

So I was checking out the S&S website and I saw this http://www.s-spower.com/looping.html what really confuses me I guess it says looping but all the pictures are wooden coasters. So anyone here think that S&S may be a planning a looping wooden coaster. We all know how the last one turned out but I really hope that concept is not lost. Though I would much rather GCI or Gravity Group attempt a looping woody.

Ole South USA (proposed park)
AintNutinElse2Do replied to AintNutinElse2Do's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I found this article which sheds a bit more light on Ole South USA and when it's supposed to open... Arthur Levine's Theme Parks Blog From Arthur Levine, Your Guide to Theme Parks. FREE Newsletter. Sign Up Now! New Park, Old Theme A proposed theme park and destination resort near Nashville, TN is one step closer to reality after a consulting company conducted a feasibility study and gave the project's developers an A-OK. Called Ole' South USA, the complex would include the Ole' South Experience theme park, featuring roller coasters and other thrill rides, lots of music, and other attractions designed around a southern hospitality theme. One of the proposed attractions in a land called The Ole' South Mansion and Gardens sounds suspiciously like the wonderful Soarin' rides at Disney's California Adventure and Epcot. According to materials released by the developers, the ride would simulate hang gliding over the South and would include flyovers of signature places such as the Mississippi River and Florida orange groves, complete with the smell of orange blossoms. The planned resort would also offer a water park, a resort lodge, camping, golfing, and other amenities. The Ole' South Experience is projected to open spring 2010. -

I know I was one of those children once, but they still can get on my nerves too especially at theme parks. I wish parks would have every once in a while an adults only time at the park. Maybe stay open an extra 2-3 hours just for us. Hard Rock Park is going to be open til 1am a lot in the summer maybe KI and others should close at like 8 and reopen for adults only til 1am. I would very much enjoy the later hours. How about you? -
After watching that video I'm glad they are adding rather than subtracting but I'll have to say I was a bit dissapointed it wasn't something bigger even a bigger flat would of been good. Now I can definitely see why "if" Kings Island was to get say a ferris wheel why they would wait til closer to opening day to tell us. If Kings Island built up a lot of hype and then was like we're getting a ferris wheel sure most of us would be glad but a lot of us would just be like all that hype for a ferris wheel geez. I'm not saying that KI will get a ferris wheel (though imho we will) I'm just saying that a park the calibur of Kings Island may be best just slipping in a ferris wheel rather than make a big spectacle about it.

From Marineland's website: "Dragon Mountain® roller coaster - ride the world's largest steel roller coaster, Dragon Mountain® found only at Marineland®. Spread over 30 acres of land, it is the world's largest non-stop roller coaster. Dragon Mountain also features more travel through tunnels - 1,163 feet - than any other coaster in the world (48" height requirement). my question is at 5500 ft long and 186 ft tall which is good but how does it qualify as the "world's largest non-stop rollercoaster."

Indiana Beach:New Coaster!
AintNutinElse2Do replied to flightoffear1996's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
so far it's just KIMA Bay a waterpark fun area for kids.... which looks very similar to the one they already have I guess double of everything is the way to go for waterparks. Now on their blog they keep saying that they will announce what else is in store for 08 shortly after thanksgiving but nothing else is announced yet except for an auditorium for 2009. -
What does Kings Island need to do to improve PKI.com?
AintNutinElse2Do replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KI Polls
Well I think first they should use a similar layout to the CedarPoint.com website. I think for the picture it should be focused mainly on the Eiffel Tower with a collage of rides and coasters around it. I think in other places there should be more pictures from inside the park just general park pictures. I think on the attractions pages I think they should list all the ride facts where it's easy to be found. I think there should be a listing for every single ride and a picture of it and again it's stats. I would like to see virtual tours on some attractions. I think they should definitely have a blog and links to all it's fan sites such as KICentral.com I think they should include a history page and give timelines. I think they should have a public guestbook and allow comments (of course keeping the power to delete bad ones) -
Boodah I think that begs the question. Would you rather have a good addition every year or would you rather have a great attraction every 2-3 years. I myself would like the great attraction every year but I can understand it only happening every 2-3 years.

Okay I don't technically know the real answer of why they don't build over water anymore. I will however hazard a few guesses. I would say yes the biggest factor is cost as is most business decisions. Also depending on the body of water there may be other obstacles in place. There may be additional "enviromental impact" studies that would need to take place before anything could use the body of water. However usually we are talking about park created bodies of water which I would think would have less guidelines but I don't know.

On the financial standpoint I will kindly have to disagree with you gordonbombay. While adding such features on an existing ride would seem counterproductive financially. I think if done correctly it could actually be a very wise financial move. Look at SFMM they are taking a ride that was first of it's kind and adding new trains and tunnels and marketing it as X2. I think SOB could very well be the same situation but it's all up to how it's marketed. Financially I think it would make sense for your record breaker to be well received to all. I'm just saying that if they consider SOB as a permament attraction then they should make it the best they can. I think comparatively the cost of adding a few tunnels would be minimal. I think this applies to other rides as well. Such as Beast while it doesn't need any more tunnels there are still many improvements that could be made to it. I for one would love to see them put some fog machines and special effect lighting on the ride but only during Halloween Haunt. I'm not saying pour millions of dollars into adding onto any existing ride I'm just saying emphasize your strong points and I feel SOB can be one of those strong points. I think we would all be happy if CF takes this off season and all of 2008 making improvements to the park. I think a fresh coat of paint all around and general updates to the park would go a long, long, long way. So basically I feel that if the park plans on keeping SOB indefinitely then spruce it up make it what it should be. If they plan on replacing it or just simply tear it down in the next 5-10 years then heck just keep it running.

Okay so there has been some talk about how Behemoth's drop will not truly be 85 degrees. I have to agree after finding this image on the internet of it's first drop I'll have to say it's more of a 70 degree angle at it's steepest. I tried to illustrate this point.... see below just follow the lime green line to see...

I'm definitely not saying it will happen in truth I doubt it will. But why would you not want to improve the ride experience on a coaster that is the tallest and fastest of it's kind in the world. It would just seem to me that the potential is there why not flaunt it. SOB may not have the most interesting layout and yeah it's as rough as many other wooden coasters. Could be worse it could be as rough as the Georgia Cyclone at SFOG. I personally feel that SOB is a great coaster I do think it has it's share of problems but I think the majority of the problems are one's that can be fixed. So why not fix them why not make the coaster what it was intended to be in the first place.

Okay, I for one agree that IJST is in a bad place and it did ruin the atmosphere in that area of the park. On the other hand it is a pretty decent ride and what would happen if they removed it? Unfortunately I seriously doubt they would ever return it to what it once was. So just keep in mind if they removed IJST what would go in it's place. On the slim chance in ____ that they would replace it with the tique's I really doubt the atmosphere would be anything like it once was. Unfortuanately I feel the damage has already been done so just what would be a good replacement for it? IMHO I think they should stick a lot of dynamite there and fill the crater left with water at least it would look better.
