Wanted: Scary Souls For Annual Kings Island Event
Dvo replied to The Interpreter's topic in Kings Island
You have to realize... this is the same park that came up with such creative names as Drop Tower, Flight Deck, and Backlot: Stunt Coaster... -
My own business? Being a member of the forum, isn't this my business, as are all other threads? We might as well have password-protected threads so that you can go about "your business" with Jackson. But I'll go out on a limb and say that he probably wouldn't care too much for that... [/argument] Sorry everyone

All this is great... but where is HauntGuy with his input?!?!?!

^so wait... you're saying they're crap, but agreeing that they're not at the same time. Try thinking before posting. Arrow is anything but crap if you ask me. Just going through the park today I was thinking how the arrow coasters have the best chain-lift sounds I can think of (Magnum, Vortex, AE). But dont go thinking that I like them because of the sound of the chain. All great coasters if you ask me. Not to mention, they've designed many record-breakers. Gemini and Magnum were both the tallest in the world when they debuted. That being said, the departure of BBW hits a personal note with me. I was a little kid when I first rode it, and it looked fun from the side (because I couldn't see the GIANT drop down onto the river!). So we got on, and needless to say I was terrified going over that hill, but afterward I just loved it. That propelled me to try bigger and better things. So I guess I have that ride to thank for developing me into an enthusiast.

The way it sounded, it's going to be a full-blown haunt. Again, just a rumor. But I like the sound of it.

I heard a rumor that the Action Grill is going to be turned into a new haunt this year! Someone related to the haunt told me that they're going to use both sides of the patio, as well as the inside of the building for a new haunt, called Slaughterhouse. Personally I'm glad to see new haunts come in (assuming this is true). I think there are a few very good ones, and a few that either need work or need to go.

when does KI see attendance drop with school starting
Dvo replied to lance99's topic in Kings Island
I remember in years past, I went to KI on the last week that it was open during the weekdays, and it was EMPTY. We literally had to wait for people just to fill Drop Tower enough for them to dispatch it. There might have been 15 people in line at a time. Needless to say, it was an amazing day. -
Thanks all! Dave... I can't tell you how jealous I am. That's an awesome accomplishment. And to do it on Voyage nonetheless. Very jealous indeed haha.

Maverick's drop answered this one for me. I think the first drop on Maverick is far better than the first drop on Magnum. But the rest of the ride on Maggie makes up for it in a big way

Do you think Diamondback will get into the top 3 best new coasters for 09?
Dvo replied to KI FANATIC 37's topic in KI Polls
My money is on Diamondback. -
I'm pretty sure The Outer Limits is a really old tv show... similar to the old Twilight Zone shows. But yes, FoF used to be The Outer Limits: Flight of Fear.

In May of 2000 I visited Cedar Point on a cool, rainy day with one objective: Ride Millennium Force. I did, and to this day I still don't think any ride has compared to my first ride on it. Right away I set a personal goal of 500 rides on it in my lifetime. Fast forward nine years and a few months. I was at CP yesterday, and I went in with 96 laps. However I totally forgot that it was fan appreciation week... I did a light jog back to Maverick from the resort gate right at 9 am, and was able to get on the 4th train (2nd dispatch) of the day. Fantastic ride in the front seat. After knocking that out, I headed to Millie. I was SHOCKED to find that the line was not only all the way down the ramp, but it was out of the queue, and over the railroad tracks! And that's only platinum pass holders and resort guests. Right then I knew it was going to be a crowded day. Nonetheless I waited it out, and 20 minutes later I had 97 laps under my belt. I got off Millie at about 9:50, and ran over to get in line for TTD before the general public got there. It ended up working out.. being a single rider, I got on in about 15 minutes. Then I hit Power Tower and Magnum. By 11:30, I had knocked out 4 of the "big 5" at CP. Gotta love early entry. After Magnum I went back around to the back of the park to hit Skyhawk a few times. Easily one of my favorite flats. Great airtime. And then on the way toward the front, I decided to endure the 75-minute wait for Millie for lap 98... I spent a few hours getting on Raptor, maXair, and Chaos. Then my uncle showed up and I went to the waterpark with him for a while. Mistake! We went in the lazy rivers for a while with no problem, but after we were good and wet, we went on a slide only to find 25 mph winds blowing at the top of the slide. Freezing! Needless to say after that we left the water park for more riding. In the evening I noticed that Raptor was down mechanical. Not only that, they had cleared out the queue and proceeded to transfer all the trains off the track. I hope it's not a big fix... Anyway I got one more Millie ride around 6:00 for number 99. Of course this had me excited. Even with the crowds I knew I was going to do it! Around 9:15 we got in line one more time. And this time I insisted on doing it the right way... yellow train, back seat, lake side. 100 laps in, and I'm willing to bet 50 of them have been in this seat . Despite the crowds, it was a fantastic day at the point. Looking forward to my next 400!

So should I hope for a list of 50 "blackout" days throughout the summer where I can't go to the park because a large company happens to be attending that day? I think I should at least have the choice to go and fight the crowd, which is the way it is right now. Imagine if KIC becomes a rather large community, and we decide to have a group outing to the park for a day (similar to the gathering in June). Should KI close the gates to season pass holders just because of that? I don't think so.

Flight Deck just pulls some serious G's around every turn. Beautiful.
-
^Agreed. I've spent an entire day at CP on a Halloweekends Saturday, and only gotten on 2 roller coasters and a flat. And that's after the 8-hour drive it took me to get there. Brutal.
-
^^Yes, but there are only so many "closed" days that the park has to be bought out. Would you rather have a giant crowd on a Saturday in the peak weeks of the summer, or have them remove another day from the operating schedule because they get bought out by another company?
-
^I agree with HandsUp. I don't think Diamondback and Millie are even remotely close. I think Diamondback is closer to Magnum than Millie (both out & back hypers with tons of airtime).

A few things... 1) I was looking for the option that said "Polls cause cancer, make them stop." 2) Soda-flavored Icees = good. Soda-flavored ice cream... ew? 3) No I would not like all these mixes, and I don't think the park would like that either. They would need a lot of ice cream machines just to make all the flavors, not to mention mix them. 4) Blueberry ftw.

So if I gather up a large group of about 10,000 people and go to the park on a normal day, am I a bad person? Should KI be blamed for allowing me to bring that many people? Seeing as most of the people on this site are somewhat regulars to the park, couldn't you just go home and come back a different day? I'm sorry you had a bad time, but I don't see the problem.

I agree! The first 3 hills on AC are just incredible.

Oh man good times. That was an awesome film for the simulators. Easily my favorite one of all. Although I'll admit.. I'm not nearly a spongebob squarepants fan, but the simulator is pretty fun for it.
