Cedar Point Opening Weekend Events
Dvo replied to gigacoaster2k's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The only things that interest me are the Magnum celebration and the skydiver. The scavenger hunt is a fun idea, but this year's is really easy. I know more than half of them just by looking at the photos. Nonetheless, it's Cedar Point. So even if they didn't have a single event that day, it'd still be a FANTASTIC day -
^If you go on any weekday in May you'll be golden.

For a long time I was riding King Cobra and pretty much everything at KI except Vortex because of the drop. But one day I just told myself that everyone riding it was coming off safely, so I would be fine. My poor mom has motion sickness and she was awesome enough to ride it with me for my first time. God bless her haha. Ever since I've yet to be scared to get on a roller coaster.

^Can't agree more about the lockers and the drinks. It seems to me that if they're going to force people to use the lockers for certain rides (Firehawk!), they should offer a cheap place to put stuff just for that ride.

Millennium Force is easily my favorite to marathon. It's such a rare event that you can do it, so when it does happen it's just bliss. Of course it doesn't hurt that it's my favorite coaster... I also like The Racer, AE, WT, and Magnum.

Hand Driers, Swine Flu and Towels

Sorry about that Terpy! Didn't mean to wish swine flu upon you... -
^Agreed. Six Flags Great America has 2 Batman rides in itself. Different surnames, but still.

^good maybe that'll stop you from re-joining and posting this garbage. -
8 rides, all on opening day!
-
^never would have guessed.......

It seems like more hassle than it's worth. Besides, most people are carrying a credit card anyway.

lol wow. nice report. a little confused about the last few posts though... :S And giga, what's this about leaving riders behind?! For Shame!

Cedar Point weekly poll on website
Dvo replied to gigacoaster2k's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
^Trust me, there's no hate for MF in me! Still my favorite ride. I love MF's air, especially on that first drop. Maverick is just insane though. The first and last camelbacks are out of control. The train flies over those hills. But overall it's still no Millie for me -
Until you come off the ride in pain from your thighs being slammed into the lap bars so hard, I'll never say anything tops Maggie's ejector seat. That's just ridiculous. There's one hill on the return course that is just incredible.

To me, Gemini only has one hill that gives good air time. Magnum is the easy winner for me, then Maverick, then Millie. I love Gemini's head-chopper, too. That thing scares me to death haha. -
Those rides are fun. I went to Disney World and vowed to spin the tea cups faster than they've ever been spun. And I had some solid spinning going, but I also had horrible blisters on my hands... worth it? I dunno...

If you go on any day Tuesday-Thursday you can easily tackle the entire park in one day, with multiple rides on at least a few of your choice. Especially if you do the SRL on Diamondback
-
^I ride Drop Tower with my hands out too. It's kinda weird.. I get really scared at the top, but I still put my arms out. And then it's just awesome.
-
I was only there on opening day, and from what I can tell it was only open for a VERY short period of time. However I was able to get on it. I really enjoyed it while it was open though!
-
Yes, it is still there. Because trains are consistently filled and KI will maintain very strong ridership numbers on it.
-
There's also the train ride, the Eiffel Tower, and Wild Thornberry's log flume. While I can certainly understand why it would seem there's not a lot to do for someone that doesn't ride the bigger rides, I think they've done a pretty good job adding rides of different thrill levels. Like CoastersRZ said, the removal of those two rides was upsetting, but there is still a lot of entertainment value for the non-thrill seekers.
-
While I agree with the first two parts... 1. The Beast 2. Diamondback 3-1000. every ride i can think of that's not SoB 1001. SoB

Night ride 100%. I love that they don't have any lighting in the back section of the track. And a little off-topic, but on Millennium Force, I like to look way out into the Sandusky Bay and stare at a buoy, and it seriously feels like a free fall going down that drop. Amazing.

Nice report. I wish I was back in cincy for another day at the park... And what's wrong with DBack??? Not only is it easier to spell and say, it's pretty sweet if you ask me
