Do you think the auction winners will also be able to go on the ERT run?
-
^^ I haven't received a call yet. But I'm going to call them tomorrow with some questions. I also received the e-mail though.
-
Yeah maXair's ride cycle is much longer and far more enjoyable.
-
Apparently I've won three seats, even though I really only want one. My bid went below the line right around the time the auction closed (and it happened again with my increased bid), so I added another. And then after the auction closed and I had my one winning bid in place, they decided to run 2 more trains, making all of them successful. Awesome.

The Diamondback First Rider Auction is Nearing Its End!

^^No, none of the $50 bids are in play. But some $100 bids are. I hope they call me this afternoon to "confirm" my bids, and I hope I can cancel two of them. What a fiasco. -
I'm probably just going to wear my Firehawk First Rider tee. too lazy to make one

^Don't worry, fingers are crossed. How could I get in touch with Don to see what I can do? I'm sure someone else would love to have that spot! Edit: Oh my goodness. Now this just got REALLY crazy! The bid board is showing they've added two MORE trains, so they have 8 total now. Which means that all THREE of my bids are now good. Awesome, can't wait to spend almost $400 when I anticipated spending no more than $130. I hope I can get this fixed... -
DeLorean, you work on the Jungle Cruise?? Wow. I got to work on that ride as part of my senior design project for mechanical engineering in college. I worked on the "Safari Pole," where the rhino has the guys trapped on the tree. Small world...

The Diamondback First Rider Auction is Nearing Its End!

Ahhhh it's 8:17 and my bid is at 189! I hope if it goes under the line, it does it in time for me to place another bid.... Edit: Whew. I had to increase my bid twice, but I made it. 4th last winner Edit again: Okay this is messed up. At about 8:20, my initial bid went below the yellow line. So I placed another bid $0.50 higher. Then at about 8:28, that bid also went below the yellow line, so I placed a third bid $0.50 higher than that, and that was a successful bid. However now I'm looking at the bid board, and my bids moved UP, so now I have two winning bids. Which means that instead of paying $126.00 for my one winning seat, I'm paying $251.50 for two winning seats. I'm guessing it's because some bids were rejected or something, but basically I was tricked into bidding again when I didn't really need to. Kind of bogus if you ask me... -
Going To SFGAm Any Time Soon? Beware

I live in the Chicago suburbs, and I can tell you that the red-light cameras are EVERYWHERE up there. Virtually every major intersection has them. It's getting pretty bad. -

Don't worry I didn't forget I've been looking to see if they posted a winner, but nothing yet. They said they'd post the winner by the 15th, and knowing T&T, it'll probably be posted tomorrow afternoon -

Anyone else's bid sliding down the mountain? My bid was sitting really steady at about 100 for the last few weeks, but in the past 4 days or so I've slid down to 137. I think I should still be okay, but I'm definitely going to check it tonight before going to bed and again early tomorrow morning. Good luck! -
TTD for me. Lucky enough to get the first train of the season last year, as well as 2 rollbacks during opening weekend Fantastic.

That stuff is amazing. One of the only "treats" I really splurge on at any amusement park.

Depends.. If you're just trying to make something that looks like it, you could probably just use PVC pipe or something.. but if you wanted an actual "working" model, that would be trickier.
-
Whoops, my mistake. I suppose I'm a little biased, as I'm a big Intamin fan. I like their track style a lot more. B&M's is so bulky it feels like you're on a hilly road.. But it's still a very fun road!
-
I like the addition of the banners as well. CP has those around the park, specifically in the Dragster/Magnum Midway, and they sell the previous year's banners. I really need to start buying those... But I'm waiting for a good MF one
-
The way I see it, if he wants to ride it, let him ride! But good luck with whichever path you choose
-
^I think it has more to do with the ride styles than the brand name. See MF, S:ROS, etc., which run very efficiently. Also see Deja Vu, a B&M that ran so inefficently they had to tear it down at SFGAm.
-
Sure! My postcard is in the mail
-
My bid has really been sliding in the last few days. Hopefully things dont really start getting crazy...
-
^DIBS! If I win, the same!
-
The same restraints are used on other B&M Hypers, and as far as I know there haven't been any accidents due to the restraint coming open. I'm sure there are safety locks built into the restraint design so that if the initial "locking" mechanism fails, there is an emergency lock.
-
I'm pretty surprised at that. I've been on MF tons of times now, easily my favorite coaster. And you can get some pretty good air time in the back seat. But Apollo's Chariot is the best B&M Hyper I've been on. The first drop is great, but my favorite is the third drop down onto the lake. Not to mention the very last drop of the ride... tons of air time. I think Diamondback will definitely compete though.
