  1. Without knowing the amount of developable land on site, I'd venture to say the property will be devoted only to DVC, but as with the Mouse, things often change many times before ground is broken.
  2. If you're interested, there are numerous websites devoted to authentic jerseys being sold for around half that. They do come from offshore, and are thus not officially endorsed by the league, but they can be had without the need to make 85% of your shots in the game.
  3. Nope. That land is earmarked for an expansion of DVC-either for a new phase of the Poly or Floridian. Given its increasing popularity, it's a no-brainer.
  4. Is he going to appear as a Force ghost?
  5. Interesting that the new Governor was in favor of the tax break from the get-go, yet allowed the case to be decided nonetheless.
  6. Correct. There has been on and off chatter for years about extending the monorail, but no plans are imminent. From the Floridian, you are also about a 5-7 walk to the MK.
  7. Its original construction (as well as the Poly's) caused major major headaches soon after they both opened. For those wondering, the shell of the building was finished, after which each room was slid into place with a crane, modular style. Of course, with Florida's high humidity, problems soon arose with mold, which, upon investigation, was caused by improper sealing of the rooms once they were in place. Needless to say Disney has spent a lot of money over the years to remediate and eventually solve this problem. For the same price as what the big toaster charges, you can stay next door at the much nicer (IMO) and quieter Grand Floridian.
  8. A friend of mine in the mall leasing business tells me that all of the CFAs that he has been part of make an average of $2.5-$3M a year. Doing business 6 days a week. For contrast, he told me an average Mcds or BK will be lucky to do 2M a year open 7 days.
  9. Having ridden these slides on a cruise (NCL Escape) I took a few weeks ago, I can say without a doubt that they provide quite a rush. The whole ride is over in about 10 seconds, so you don't really get a chance to get your bearings once you've been dropped. I will note that these slides had some downtime issues on my cruise (only 1 of 2 was operational for most of the cruise, but the two were clones, so the ride experience was the same), assuming they come from the same manufacturer.
  10. Markus Schleidt is the franchisee of a few stores in NE Cincy, including the one in KI. If anyone is curious as to whether he plans something similar to what happened in Sandusky, he can be contacted through the store webpage of his other locations in Mason and Westchester.
  11. Now where might Ouimet have gotten that idea...
  12. I'd watch the weather first and foremost. A warm, but cloudy day or even a day with a chance of rain can make for small crowds. All things being equal, the Friday before Memorial Day would be your better bet; then again, many people have family cookouts and what not on Memorial Day, so that could lead to smaller crowds as well.
  13. Urgent Scare could always get its own building if demand warranted it. Construction of a simple wood frame building w/ metal siding like Slaughterhouse or the former Club Blood would only take a few months.
  14. There are lots of forum posts dedicated to this question. Much is dependent on the weather; but, generally speaking, most holiday weekends will be busy. If you're concerned about getting rides in, purchase FastLane or FastLane Plus. There is a nice discount on the FL and FL+ passes if 4 or more are purchased together in one transaction (1 credit card, or cash).
  15. Keep in mind that you can utilize your 3 FP upon entering the park you choose (if Disney). At rope drop, I'd head straight for one of the kiosks (just not the ones on Main Street; they'll be packed) and make your selections. First thing in the morning, you ought to be able to get a time that's fairly close to the time you arrive. Usually the kiosks are additionally staffed by CMs with IPads, who can also (and usually more quickly) help you with planning. Like Rail said, if Fantasyland interests you, you could FP Pan, Mermaid and 7DMT, then head to the Mansion (just through the breezeway by the Rapunzel cell charging station), which, even with a short wait (prob 15 min by the time you get there), would put you in the window of your first FP in Fantasyland once you're through with the ride. I'm with Rail, though, in saying skip AK. Once Avatar opens, it'll be worth going to, but there isnt enough there right now to justify even a few hours. I'd devote your day to the MK and HS.
  16. prior use? not as good a defense as it once was, but could be invoked if need be. Given the different uses-eatery v food item, probably not enough for CF to worry about.
  17. Given your parameters, it seems as if Disney is your better bet. You can use any of the FastPass+ kiosks located in the parks to make your ride selections (3 at once, then 1 at a time) once you get there. The popular rides do run out of FastPass slots early, but you can also create an account online at Disney's website, after which you can use your phone (with their free app) to make your selections. Your 3 initial selections must all be located in one park, which I would suggest be the MK, as it has the most number of FP+ rides. As for Disney transport-aside from a cab to the parks, taking a Disney bus is quickest. Busses go direct from park to park. Star Wars launch bay at the Studios just opened and I've heard rave reviews. It's located in the old animation building in the Animation Courtyard portion of the park. As for Splash, sit in the back of the boat if you don't want to get too wet. I've never been soaked on it in the many times I've ridden it. As for your time logistics in each Disney park, my suggestion would be to begin your day at AK, knock out the few 'adult' rides there (Dinosaur, Everest, Safaris), then head over to the Studios. Aerosmith is out, so you can do Star Wars Launch Bay, Star Tours, Tower of Terror and Toy Story. After that, I'd head up to the MK for the rest of the day and night. It always stays open the longest. On Monday, AK is open 9-8, HS from 9-8:30 and MK from 9-12a. Given that schedule and the predicted lines, you'd probably make it to the MK by late afternoon, assuming you were at AK when the rope drops at 9 AM. It would be a long day, but you could hit the highlights. Good luck!
  18. Parts of the movie have recently been inserted into other various Disney DVDs and TV shows, so perhaps Iger will warm up to the idea again. I would think a special release, with a commentary disc or other special narration by someone such as Oprah or Morgan Freeman would be appropriate.
  19. If the Big 3 Orlando parks have installed metal detectors, I would hope the regional chains would follow suit. In a related move, Disney has now stopped selling all toy guns, whether they be Disney-branded or otherwise, and has tweaked the costume policy in that no guests over 14 may wear them inside the parks, whether it be for a regular visit or a hard ticket event like the Very Merry Christmas Party and the Not So Scary Halloween Party.
  20. From a transportation standpoint, the asphalt mixes are roughly the same; it's just a matter of how thick you want the pavement to be. Here in Indiana, the first four sections of the new I-69 were able to be opened more quickly and cheaply than normal because the asphalt was not as thick as in the past. Given how technology has improved since the last time the lot was repaved, i'm certain they could do more with less this go around. At least until CF decides to expand the park into the current lot and build large parking garages at the edge of its property, like Universal Orlando did to expand CityWalk and Disneyland did to build CA and Downtown Disney.
  21. It looks like quals are on that first Saturday of Coasterstock and a slightly condensed Pole Day that next day. Once details of qual weekend are announced, maybe the schedule will allow you to attend Sunday.
  22. I haven't seen any formal announcement yet. Could be one of those things that's done without announcing. It makes sense to do, since travelling on new pavement until just past the new toll plaza, then going back onto the current pavement wouldn't look nice. I know the lot is big, but the cost of repaving and re-striping can easily be recpatured in short order on one of the park's normal summer days.
  23. Unless said governmental entities have short memories and recall the awful monorail accident at Disney a few years back. I'd guess the approval process would take a good deal of time. By that time,Universal might decide to stick with the bus plan.
  24. A monorail isn't going to happen. Disney has toyed with the idea of expanding the system for years (and they own the land!). As recently as a couple of years ago, Reedy Creek estimated that the cost would be in the hundreds of millions just to build it, not to mention operate it. Disney figured even with buying a whole new fleet of buses powered by Natural Gas (which is what they're doing), the cost of doing so is a fraction of what it would cost to expand the monorail. Universal would have to pay a pretty penny for the land it needs, or else do a deal with the City of Orlando or FDOT to lease their right of way. At least for the short term, Universal would either build a 3rd gate and shuttle people over, or just buy and develop the space between the parks plus the acreage they already own.
  25. I agree Future World could use a lot of love. Lots of capital is being invested right now in Avatar over at AK and Pixar/Star Wars over at the Studios, not to mention Disney Springs and their overseas projects. Like all good parks, it has a 5 year plan, so I wouldn't be surprised to hear about a big investment in Epcot after those aforementioned projects are opened. Iger and Co. are well aware of the glaring need for improvement at Epcot. They'll get there.
