  1. Incorrect: http://www.parislasvegas.com/casinos/paris...wer-detail.html Not to mention that I have personally eaten there.... I just found out yesterday while reading a magazine that there is one at the Vegas Eiffel Tower. When I read that, I thought "OOPS! Someone's going to correct me!" I should have known it would be Terpy! Not to mention it was the place where I got engaged in 2003! lol!
  2. Or, see the Haunted Mansion at Dl and WDW..it has the story and the theming w/o the need for targets...that's why they created Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin!
  3. I would posit that CF doesn't know what they're doing with SOB yet. If they want to repair the ride, they'll have to get bids on retracking, plus I think any repair MUST include trains that are designed for the ride..Angie (giga) and I have talked offline about this and we both think anyway that the Gravity Group could be contacted to manufacture/provide such trains. The cost to do that v the cost to tear it down and replace it with nothing would have to be considered. That, combined with the possible Crypt removal and any backlash from potentially replacing Nick w Snoopy would not be a situation I'd want to be a part of. All the good buzz generated by DB would disappear in a flash.
  4. The speed def looks thrilling on this thing, but I think DB has it beat as far as layout, elements, etc. It'll be interesting to see what people think after they've taken a spin.
  5. Having worked at the MK, I can tell you that the constant background music played in the various lands embeds itself in your head, from the banjo music played in frontierland, to the calliope music in the former swiss family treehouse to the tropical music in the tiki room, I still remember it note for note!
  6. Remember the park only sets aside a certain number of private days, nearly all of them in Sept on wknds..they make more money when it's open to the public. in order to close the park, you'd probably need mid 6 figures easily..when I worked at Disney we would close the park for private events and I know that to rent out the MK for a night back in 94 cost almost $500k. I think the RWW event was perfect for enthusiats like us and other groups--lots of ert (2.5 hrs on Diamondback alone was terrific!), lots of extra stuff like a scavenger hunt, q and a, etc..all for the low low price of free if u had a gold/plat pass! I had a blast, met tons of KIcers and thought the park did a great job. My guess is you'll have a hard time convincing passholders esp to fork over 30-50 for the ability to have short lines.
  7. Here's a helpful hint about car keys--i only take my ignition key into the park w th me and i put a safety pin to the inside of my shorts all the way at the bottom..i then slide the key in the pin and clip it to my shorts and presto--secure keys..ive ridden db tons and tons this season and have never had a prob.
  8. Haunt is a huge moneymaker for the park, so no doubt they want to get the promotion going as early as possible. I noticed the hearse as well when I was there this past Saturday. Retailers also employ the same tactics..as soon as the back to school rush is over later this month, you can bet you'll see halloween displays spring up overnight along with the requisite fly by night costume stores.
  9. In most cases, free water is dolled out if the person is within easy reach..I was stuck on AE in the 2nd tunnel with the skeleton for about an hr a couple yrs ago in stifling heat..when finally evaced, I was also given a cut the line pass for any ride I wanted, which I used on TR, since at the time it was running 90 min waits.
  10. I must say I've used the SRL for the vast majority of my rides on DB thus far this season and can say that overall, I think they have it down. Usually if the SRL is at the bottom of the stairs, you're looking at about a 15-20 min wait. Most times, the SRL is closed once it creeps to just beyond the bottom of the stairs. It is then closed for about 15-20 min while they clear the line, then it opens back up. Thus, if the main que is 30 min or more, I usually opt for the SRL because even if I have to wait for it to reopen, I know that once it does, I can proceed to the top of the stairs and get on within a few trains.
  11. There are number of hotels at both exit 19 off 71 (3 miles south of park) and exit 25 (1 mile north), and most are inexpensive and reasonable. If price isn't a concern, you can stay 'on property' so to speak at great wolf lodge, where 1 suite would prob suffice for your family. Have fun!

    Chicago PTR

Ginos is pretty sub par, in my opinion and I've been to Chicago more times than I care to count. The Orig Unos or Dues, while touristy, is still pretty good..The Unos you see franchised all over and the Unos in Chicago are vastly different. If you want a quick bite, try Foodlife in Water Tower Place..kind of a food court on steriods.
  13. Nice TR, Ang! So is your camera kaput? sometimes if you let it dry out it will work again..I assume you uploaded the pics by taking out your card? Looks like you guys had fun for sure! Hope to see you at KI soon!
  14. Back in the day it was, but now? I don't see how you call BLSC, FOF, Firehawk and the Sprite 3 point challenge in keeping with the old time theme..the antique cars and eagles gave it that nostalgic feel but once those were removed, all old time themeing for CM ceased to exist. On a side note, CM needs another set of restrooms!
  15. If you want useless parking lot trivia here goes--the MK parking lot at WDW is so big it can fit the entire DL park (orig park) and STILL have room to park 500 cars! One of the things you learn when you work at Disney...
  16. Disney seems to have hit an uncharacteristc streak of bad luck lately with its modes of transportation..first monorails, now busses.
  17. I second that! I refuse to go on any rides at the Indiana State Fair which I just started reattending last year after a long absence for that very reason. I feel safe on rides at places like KI, since I know that they spend a lot of money on upkeep.
  18. If you have an iphone, there is a free app that allows you to hold up your iphone to the vicinity of the music and, if the range is close enough, it will tell you what the song is and take you to teh itunes store where you can buy a download (how thoughtful of them, right?) I don't know the name of the app but I'm sure someone on here does.
  19. I've always liked Dueling Dragon's color scheme at IOA.
  20. FOF does have A/C, as does Scooby. You can also cool off in the Festhaus if you're hungry and/or want to watch the show, or in any of the shops throughout the park. Wild Thornberrys itself didn't get you that wet, but the elephant used to when he sprayed a jet of water at the end. I've noticed this year that the elephant seems to spray more of a shower of water so you dont get as wet.
  21. I have been to Chichen Itza and can vouch for its size, wonderment and beauty. The City is still only partly excavated, but it's hard to see everything uncovered thus far in just a few hours. I highly recommend going if you find yourself in Mexico!
  22. VIP tours are usually great and I'd venture to say that a lot of people on this site, including me, would do it if the price were lower. But, then again the point of these tours is to limit them, both in number and to the people they are meant for. If you go on a weekday early in the week I've found you can get through the park pretty easily without long waits at all...Diamondback especially can be ridden 10 times even on a busy day w/o a wait over 45 min (or possibly less in the srl). Still, it is a unique way to experience the park if time is of the essence and price isn't a factor.
  23. Growing up and now living here in Indy, I attended a great many games at the old Bush as a kid..while Victory Field is great (home of the Indians since 97), nothing can ever replicate the feel of an old ballpark. The City has had many discussions on what to do with the park, but the fact that it lies in an economically distressed area doesn't spur many redevelopment efforts. Most of Indy's downtown revitalization is now centered on the areas surrounding Lucas Oil Stadium (much like Conseco Fieldhouse did for the east side of downtown back when it opened in 99), so I very much doubt that the City will do anything with Bush for the forseeable future except to keep the homeless out and let nature slowly reclaim it.
  24. well regardless of rider counts, all CF cares about is whether the ride increased park attendance, in park sales, or season pass sales..i know in years past in the 'coaster wars' bigger and taller didnt always translate into bigger gate, but if in fact DB can give 2M rides this season, that would be an amazing feat for the park, considering Vortex's debut was the last to achieve numbers even close to that. I'll be interested to hear what the attendance was once the season ends. Regardless of what you think of CF, they have given KI 2 coasters in 3 years of owning the park, which in my mind anyway, is great.
