  1. only 4 of those houses were open sunday. and really poorly understaffed in 2 of them.... I don't have confirmation of this, but I'm pretty sure CB won't be coming back this year. They have four attractions that have been up since 2001 and, excluding Massacre Manor, have had little to no rehabbing done to them over the years (the relocating of CarnEvil to the former Enchanted Theater doesn't count). Why on earth would they get rid of a maze that has only been up for three years and remains their most popular (not to mention the poster child for Cedar Fair's "edgier, more mature" marketing scheme that has done more harm than good, IMO)? I'd much rather they get rid of CarnEvil and do an entirely new layout in the old theater (*cough*Doll Factory*cough*) or remove Death Row as was rumored to have been axed from the lineup for the past few years. Confirmation from who?!?! the dippin dots guy isn't there this year O:) If anything CB will just get a slight retheme like it did 2 years ago taking out the backstage birthing area. *emphasis added* That would be the only maze me to make me go back and work Haunt this year, unless theres a serious supervisor/rule overhaul. The politics last year killed it for 90% of the 3+ year veterans... Cemetary < Cornstalkers. And you need some newbie mazes to put people who just don't quite catch on, and ppl who really don't like haunted houses but enjoy the "smaller" scares. i'm ok with getting rid of cemetary tho. Cornstalkers is much better with the townsppl in it. And i could see Death Row going. its been around for awhile... and that house is 90% returners year after year and i know a good 70% of those won't be returning....
  2. Lets do it!!! lol lets go relive 15 years ago... o dear gawd... Is it bad that i'm so totally in for this?!
  3. *squeeeeee* TOTALLY excited! I didn't get to go last year cuz of work, but now i have a normal 8-5 so guess where i'm headed right after work It's well worth the money, and I don't mind paying for it in the least. Minus last year I've gone the past 4 or so years, and its ALWAYS good time. Yes a few religious nuts sneak in (how they get those sandwich boards and boxes full of "Gay=Evil" pamphlets in I'll never know. And yes you have the occasional family thats slightly freaking out, but it is single handedly thee absolute best night to actually enjoy the park! The people are friendly and the outfits are fun (comeon who doesn't love a good flag twirling drag show?!) and everyone is respectful. oh and there will definately be a meet up. Maybe i'll have to dig the glam rock stuff out from last year O:) (<--- Ryan would it be so hard to have an angel smiley? )
  4. So, I got to thinking... What ideas do I have? On the very extreme of the spectrum is The Kings Club. Simply a way for fans of the park to really come together and talk about the inner workings, the things to improve, and the things that have improved! Perhaps its "out of the question," but I'm sure at some point, so was the idea of a park having a Twitter or a daily Q&A session where nothing is off limits! Quite simply, the club could be half fan-club, half-volunteer work where a small group of folks could be 'on the inside.' Imagine: 1.) MONTHLY MEET-UPS with a park "big wig" to discuss areas of improvement and throw ideas back & forth - perhaps the team behind the 5@5? I'm sure things are busy enough, but it's an idea! And during the off-season, the meetings can continue at local restaurants. 2.) AFTER-HOURS WORK to enact some of the cheap & easy ideas discussed in #1 (what immediately comes to mind - cleaning gum off of The Racer; hanging up camouflage netting inside The Crypt, gardening in the Tower Gardens...) 3. ADVERTISING. As was suggested in the 5@5, it might be phone calls, creating advertisements in Photoshop, distributing coupons... To be the official Kings Club would mean to spread the word, to encourage people to visit, and to create lasting memories for those who do! Perhaps even greeting people as they enter & just giving them a smiling face & an answer to any questions... Things like that really separate parks & give people an incredible first impression. 4. "SNEAK PEAKS" - a lights on ride of Flight of Fear, Boo Blasters & The Crypt; a night-time walk around Adventure Express... Even a walk-through of the Backlot Stunt Coaster tunnel with the lights on (what's in there?! Even on the few times that the house lights are on, I can't make it out.) would make us feel special & be so much fun! 5. ORGANIZING UNIQUE EVENTS. I, for one, know that I have a ton of art I've done of Kings Island, as do a lot of others. Much of it is very good. Hosting a "Kings Island Art Show" in the International Restaurant one evening would be a thrill for the Club members, and anyone from the park who decided wander up and check it out. Or a Kings Club Road-trip to Kings Dominion! For me, Kings Island has been a part of my life for eighteen years (make it 19 years when I celebrate my birthday there April 24th...) and it would mean the world to me to be able to say what I want to say, to praise the park where it should be praised, and to help out, knowing that it's actually worth something. I can sit & rave about the landscaping for days to my friends, but to say it to someone who actually LISTENS, and who can actually DO SOMETHING where needed - that would be so great. Especially if *I* could be the one to do it! To know that, even in the smallest way, I've improved the park! So, what are your thoughts on such an idea? Out of the question? Realistic? Also, be sure to discuss it (if you can!) on Kings Island's Facebook board since that's where those who can make things happen are more likely to read. ummm.... not to be a party pooper.... but aren't we, KIC kinda like that? Just saying.... Stuff like cleaning gum should be done by the park. KI loves the idea of a helpful band of volunteers because it means that things may get done for free. They are a money-making business. The goodwill of park lovers shouldn't be directed toward jobs that should be done by park workers. ON the other hand, (and this is just an off-the-cuff example) the 'Kings Club' could do something like provide McDonalds gift cards to park employees that go the extra mile to find time to pick off gum here and there. Something indirect that rewards park employees instead of giving volunteer man hours to such tasks. Some of the things like making changes and dusting the Crypt may not be easy to orchestrate. Every addition to a ride has to be approved (even a sheet) and someone from the park would have to be on hand while things like dusting were done. So they'd have to pay personnel to be on hand while the volunteers came in. Even something like placing plants would have to be reviewed and approved. Things like this may meet contention with the park: Old barn wood would have to be replaced much sooner than painted plastic. We all know that whenever you replace something that people have come to expect at KI, they don't like it. New barn wood would have to be provided and re-stained as the old wood gave away or wore enough to not meet safety/building code. This kind of authentic theming is a feat that Disney might have the foresight and cash to support, but a park like KI might not like the idea of all that future maintenance, and depending on an outside organization to carry the responsibility. I LOVE this idea. I can't see the park meeting this with contention outside of liability and background checks to let people represent their brand outside of KI employment. When you can detail specific projects, it is also easier to get grants or sponsorship donations. Taking on a few projects a year means that there is more focus and each project can be wrestled in red tape with the park. I'm all for helping out the park, but we would have to focus on specific projects, and make sure that we're not providing free labor. I have created a 501c3 organization before, and there is a lot of legal implications when you form an independent entity that handles donations and works with entertainment businesses like KI. It can be kind of ridiculous at times, but when you play by the rules and get through all the complicated business, you come out on the other side with a lot of good works and happy people. AMEN! Thats kinda what you're proposing... they have paid employees to do these jobs... heck Landscaping is a whole freaking department!! And when would this be done? in the late late evening when people have jobs/school the next day? when minors couldn't be out anyways, when they'd need to pay extra security to watch everyone? I mean I 100% totally agree with Alluna here, that it is a great idea! but logistically? not so much. it's way easier said then done. Having to orchestrate it, and get every detail figured in not so much...
  5. From the latest newsletter: Guess what I'm headed for first!!! lol
  6. Ryan, Do they make it so you can see the lasers? or is just luck of the draw? lol
  7. Only if it didn't pertain to anything or was being discussed somewhere else, or just had absolutely no point/relevance. there is always a reason for a thread being deleted... trust me. I think i missed something on this whole thing.... Besides the entire thing won't be filled with smokers. and besides.... how many of you complaining about it ACTUALLY walk through the dang thing more than once? Anyone? beuhler? beuhler?
  8. jeezus now yall are scaring me and making me 2nd guess my trip not cool
  9. the 2nd launch/mcbr is INSIDE the volcano. you don't see it from the outside
  10. hurler is not open this season so no worries and i thought rebel yell was quite faster and *gulp* better then racer
  11. That is the perfect way to describe it actually... only faster than MF That's interesting to hear. We felt the opposite. I found the back to be my favorite, the first drop was out of control in the back. I'll say though, our one backseat ride we got was also at night.....when we couldn't see or anticipate anything coming. In the end, I can't say ANY seat on the ride was merely good.....I will say ANY seat is amazing. We rode front, middle and back and each area of the train delivers. For me, there is no bad or dull seat on the ride. - Todd I'm with you Todd... i rode towards the front in the middle and it wasn't bad but then sat i got on the very back seat and OMG!! it was nuts! and totally worth the 5 second blackout
  12. It scanned at KD just fine goofy kick butt pic and all
  13. I'd put Express at about a 3, and Drop Tower around a 523!!!! LOL The Dodgem is rated a level 4... At this level, every ride in Kings Island besides 'Go Diego Go' belongs in the five category. But I must admit this website is much better than the last, and all of the ride descriptions are very accurate. My ratings would be Drop Tower, Diamondback, Vortex, Firehawk, The Beast, and Delirium all 5s and everything else in the park 4 or below. Adventure Express would be a 4 for me. I think they just need to make it to 7 ratings. That would be better. You don't think FoF would be a 5? KD also has Sponge bob still....
  14. Oh I blame you and Danielle entirely. BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA*SNORT*HAHAHAHAHA O:) Why I have no idea what you mean... Glam rock was your idea... we took it from there
  15. I do know that you have to get it replaced at the park you bought it at. A few of us got them at Carowinds so thats a bit of a pain if we need to redo it and aren't planning another trip there...
  16. Umm if you already have the pass from CP you have to get it processed at CP. If you haven't bought it yet, buy it at KI and get it processed there if you're going before CP
  17. OMG OMG OMG OMGOMG!!! <3<3<3<3<3 this is DEFINITELY getting on the trip as a planned stop. i dont care if anyone else doesn't want to go they'll get over it! you so rock!!! and really robbie....
  18. ROFL!!!!! LOL LITERALLY!!! *goes to find a towel for the laptop and a new glass of water*
  19. LOL no comment Justin O:) and robbie and terpy no worries. my passport doesn't expire until april 12th 2011 Which is a bonus as i was sure it expired this summer. but more props to me! now i just have to decide if i want to hit Niagra on the way home or the way there
  20. thats just crazy to hear about the ppl there b/c on opening weekend it was the ppl at carowinds that did ir for me! everyone was nice and polite as all heck and went out of their way to say hi and ask us if we were enjoying our time. even guest relations were nice to us when we went to write down a few compliments and even with the whole lap bar situation. i guess not all good things can last
  21. *waits patiently* oh wait.. i guess this means i should work on mine from KD >.< lol
  22. its not any scarier! like i've said elsewhere there are a few things that pop out at you but they're comparable to the bookshelf that "fell" on you when you hit the target. Heck the first time i was too busy trying to get a better score than Jack and Adam to really pay all that much attention... as i assume will be the case with most kids...
  23. this kinda worries me.. is it just Carowinds? I got my PP from there and am hoping i dont have problems up here. But i did get in both days there with no problems, even if they had to manually type mine in cuz their scanners werent working
  24. OOOOOhhh so THATS what that is on Canada Wonderlands calender the weekend I'm planning on going O:)
  25. What do you mean? It is in darkness. the only lights on the ride itself is at the top of the lift hills. There are random streetlights on the maintenance roads that run by it
