It could use steel supports, spine and ties. Set the whole ride up like the loop.
-
They have this fiberglass stuff that is like wood. I know some of the boardwalks at Yellowstone are made of it - and I think the stuff can be seen at Holiday World & Splashin Safari as well.
-
Man that looks so cool! I can't wait to ride it! Now which will be better? Rumbler or Voyage?
-
Oh that is pretty cool. Must be why both parks are so great!
-
Ever been to Di$ney World?
-
It is awesome - and you got pwnt.
-
Indeed. I can't not return!
-
You guys take this too seriously.

So Action Theater will be a theater in the round?

Sorry but I am going to have to go against the huge wave of fanboys here. Podcasts are a fad. They will die out eventually. Most unoriginal idea ever... Why listen to a podcast telling me old news I read a couple days ago?

LMAO - thats hilarious. I have known how to do that since what - like 1996?

I would be suprised if Chick Fil A came back. The people who own it are Mormons and that is why most of them are not open Sunday. I hear that the Chick Fil A HQ was not at all happy about the PKI one being open Sundays. If it is a yearly contract - they probably won't be back.

I love the Spongebob movie - but I have to agree with you about the Jones movie! Indiana Jones kicks ass!

Meanwhile, over at SFKK

I wonder if season passes to Wyandot Lake will still be accepted at all SF parks this year? The season pass is like 35 dollars. -
I believe Jeff Siebert said the contract with HB ends in 2008. But like they said above - this is probably a stand alone attraction.

I think this is really a good direction for the park. They just might be able to safe Six Flags. I know when I went to SFKK - I thought it was a neat park with some cool rides - but it was really dirty and for lack of a better word - "ghetto". Plus its not geared toward families at all. With the right improvements, it could be an awesome park! -
Yeah - I know I went to PKI back in July 2004 - as a Joe Citizen and I loved it. The very next week I bought a gold pass, and went like every weekend for the rest of 2004. Then in 2005 I got the Platinum pass. I imagine well have to make some little sacrifices like this here and there - but hopefully PKI will have great things to come in the future - under this new management! I would really like to see PKI leave the world of just being the best seasonal park in North America, and start competing with some of the big dogs.

New Nick Universe Info Released!

I remember when I emailed her back in September about the National Geographic shoot. She got back to me like within an hour. I was flabbergasted! Yeah she is really helpful with stuff like this - and you can tell she likes her job and is enthusiastic about the park. Same thing went for Jeff. Did anyone ever see any of those weird spoof movies the made? The Son of Beast Witch Project and that Tomb Raider The Ride Newsreel? -
Yeah Ryan that is pretty depressing. But at the rate it is going... That is one reason this decision is good - like Marketing Express said. My estimate for just the payroll for one hour of operation was 10,000 dollars. Lets take the 4th of July for example. It used to be open till midnight, and not all the rides were open. Ridership was also very low during those last two hours. Cutting those hours saves an instant 20,000 dollars. Then consider the electricity it takes to run all the rides and establishments. It costs alot of money. I don't think I can say it on here - but let me just say that Flight of Fear costs some big time money to launch each train. I mean ALOT. And it adds up if you are launching 30 trains an hour. What makes it even more troublesome is if there are only 4 or 5 people on the train. So lets just look at Flight of Fear - not even look at IJST, TRTR, Drop Zone, and Delirium - all of which also use ALOT of electricity. Say for those two hours you have a group of six die hard gold pass holding PKICers. They just marathon FOF over and over. The park is spending a HUGE amount of money to launch those PKICers - and not making any. I would say a very conservative estimate at how much money the park saves by closing an hour early would be 50-75,000 dollars. So in two hours they could be saving 100,000 or more. More than likely - it is a lot more than that - I am just making a really low estimate of around 75,000 dollars an hour. So guys - the whole point of this is - if you really want what is best for our home park - support their decision and be happy with it. Other area parks would be so lucky to stay open so late. I went to Holiday World once in late June, and they closed at 8pm. So - please support PKI in this, and don't whine about it - if you are a true PKI fan.

Good morning, here is your podcast for February 1 2006. Nothing new since yesterday. Stay tuned for tomorrows podcast!

You sure about that? They have fireworks when they close at 10. So if they close later - they still have them at 10. If they close earlier - no fireworks.
-
We push broom no matter what. If the park closes at midnight, then we typically get out 12:30-12:45 am. So if the park cuts that back to 10pm close, then were out at 10:45 instead of 12:45. Fine with me.

Not sure how plane wood supports would work - but yeah like L*R said - plain wooden supports aren't a good idea for it. If you have been on Legend - one cool thing is in the queue line. It gets about 18 inches from a support, and when the train flies by, it bends and shifts toward the queue about 6 inches. You can put your hand on it and feel it. Voyage is way more intense, with higher banking than Legend. It would tear a wood supported track apart. Oh and to settle any disputes - Voyage is a wood coaster. It is not a steel coaster. Coasters are determined by what their track is. It could be on plastic supports - it would still be a wood coaster.

No - it is because there are so few people there during those hours - that they are actually losing money staying open that extra hour. Plus - they know they won't **** off that many people by taking that hour off. Probably 90% of the people that do stay in those extra hours between fireworks and park closing, just stay because they can. They wont care one way or another if the park closes an hour earlier. For that remaing 10% of people - probably 75% of which post on this forum - we just have to deal with it. It really is what is best for the park. It will be nice to get off work earlier - closing at midnight and having to be back the next morning at 9am sucks. But - that is not why I support this decision. I support their decision - because it saves the park money, and is better for the company. Who knows - maybe some of that extra expense saved by earlier closing can go toward new rides and better maintenence of theming/special effects! As far as getting rid of the 9-10 am period - yeah that is probably because sales at the shops aren't that good. People will go in and browse - maye a few people will make purchases - but it really isn't profitable. Neither is having those security people on hand to stand by the ropes for an hour.

You make a good point there. It pretty much was a cheap retheme of Scooby Doo. By just calling it Beastie - they didn't have to pay any royalties to HB. Kind of like Outer Limits to Flight of Fear. And another comparison - Scooby Doo was the big cartoon back then - Fairly Odd Parents is the big cartoon now...
