Only a couple cashiers? They should have more than that! Don't wanna pull a Happy Days!
-
He doesn't live that close - he is like an hour and 20 minutes away. Well an hour if you drive like him. Legend Riders car has more airtime than any coaster at PKI or Holiday World. I'd take a few rides in his car anyday over Raven!
-
Or they could just open up Wild Thornberries.
-
L*R - the acceleration is not 9.8m/s^2. It would be if there was no train attached to it. The G force acceleration on the weight is 9.8m/s^2 - but attached to the top of the weight is a cable of tension equal to the weight of the cable plus the train. But the weight is much heavier than the train - so it is still a forceful launch.
-
It just occured to me - Weight Drop Launch isn't listed! The only types of Launches I have been on are Weight Drop and LSM/LIM. They are pretty similar and both pretty cool - but I think the Weight Drop launch is cooler. It just feels wierder. It is more forceful for one - but more smooth too. Dont know how to explain it.
-
I could be wrong - but I think it has LSMs just to start it - it is like a minimal force. The LIMs are what bring the train to full speed. That is why IJST has the friction wheels. There is an excellent description of it on Dave Althoff Junior's Site... Check it out - it makes for fascinating reading! Dave Althoff's LIM Page
-
I do believe FOF uses a LSM just to get the train started moving, and then the LIMs take over and actually launch the train.
-
I have to agree I LOVE DDR - and would love to see it at Holiday World. Whether or not it would be a success is not really the point. It is an arcade game... Whether its DDR or a Cruisin World - its going to bring money in. I think alot of people would like to see DDR though.

Winterfest ... sinking faster than the Titanic
TheKlockster replied to A_Titanic_Mess's topic in Kings Island
Indeed, PKI does have a 3 giant Jewish symbols... Troika is a giant Menorah... Delirium is a giant Dreidel. And you would have to ask DeliriumDreamer what Tomb Raider is. She has told me like 20 times and I can't ever remember. Maybe Captain Nemo knows... -
Kings Island to Overhaul Children's Area for 2006
TheKlockster replied to ZosoBeast's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Indeed - that is what I say. I don't know what Avatar is - and I don't loose sleep over it. What does bother me is when people say things like they think they know what is going on when in reality they dont have a clue. That is how rumors get started - like the rumor about it being a Disk'O which is undoubtedly why it was de-listed from RCDB. It could be a Disk'O - I am not going to pretend I know... Those who know don't talk, and those who talk - don't know. -
Why are LIM and LSM seperate? Launches on rides like FOF and IJST use both types of motors. LIMs can accelerate things to high speed - but cannot start an object moving from stand-still. The LSM gives it the initial push, and then the LIM takes over. LIM is Linear Induction Motor and LSM is Linear Synchronous Motor.

The Disk'O is a rumor... It has not been confirmed. RCDB does not have any information on this - they just removed it until it is announced for sure whether or not it is a coaster. Keep in mind that although Disk'O is considered a flat ride - the Intamin Half Pipe coaster - pretty much the same thing - is listed under coasters. Besides, I think a Disk'O is a little big for kids. It would most likely be something that would have a 44 inch height requirement - maybe smaller. Then again I could be wrong - I am just pointing out that none of us know what Avatar is - including Legend Rider. So why doesn't everyone just wait and find out. -
I don't know what to think about Voyage anymore. It sounds incredible especially with the new addition - but so does KY Rumbler. That is two kick ass coasters I will have to try next year! I still maintain that those 3 hills in the beginning of the ride look cool - but totally dont impress me. The park needs to focus the camera on the good part of the ride.

Winterfest ... sinking faster than the Titanic

Can't have a winter celebration without ! Maybe Santa will bring Vortex another great 18 years of operation! Or that Vekoma we have all been dreaming about... I am going to try and get to Winterfest sometime this winter - but hopefully the price will come down toward the end. I know its only like 20 bucks if you get your ticket at Blockbuster. -
Winterfest ... sinking faster than the Titanic
TheKlockster replied to A_Titanic_Mess's topic in Kings Island
Yeah it could be like Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom! When is the last time they got a NEW ride? Not a used ride and not a water slide. I think their sales would be way up if Gold Pass holders got into Winterfest. Of course - 2006 Gold Pass holders - not 2005. It would be an incentive to buy your Gold Pass early, plus it would get all those extra people in that would spend lots of money on food, drinks, skating etc. -
I wonder if they would have not given us that bonus weekend - with the bring unlimited friends free days - if they would have had more time to get the Winterfest stuff up. Those last two days this year were NUTS! Or as that video on QTV says - B-A-N-A-N-A-S

No Santa Hats on the Ride Operators? Hey anyone remember how last Fearfest 04 - Tomb Raider had a different and longer and more exciting ride program? Did anybody get to ride Tomb Raider: The Ride: The Sequel?

Winterfest ... sinking faster than the Titanic
TheKlockster replied to A_Titanic_Mess's topic in Kings Island
Yeah I agree that whatever the amount of money generated by this winterfest is - will determine whether or not there is one next year. Personally I hate Christmas - so I was thinking about going up by myself and taking some pictures and just getting in the park. The only way I would like Winterfest is if they opened Adventure Express and named it Polar Express or something. I can see how people would like Winterfest. There really is no right or wrong. I am just the type of person who goes to parks for one thing - rides. I like rides. As far as theming goes - I like themed rides. This summer I only went to one show - and it wasnt even at PKI - and I thought it was hideous. Thats just my two cents though. Keep in mind this is a fansite - and there are a lot of fanboys on here. I have not been to Winterfest yet so I can't pass judgement on it - but it looks like it isn't anything great. But 99% of the fanboys on this fansite are going to think that PKI can do no wrong - and think that Winterfest is freaking awesome. In the end it is the general public - and their money - that will determine the longevity of Winterfest. Also - you would be surprised how many people don't even know about Winterfest. I mentioned it at work - and everyone was like oh wow theyre doing that again!?!? I will have to go up! Maybe I will use my last paycheck from PKI I just got in the mail and go up and see for myself. -
Winterfest is Back! Pictures and Video Online!
TheKlockster replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I wish I could view the video... Even if I could download it - it would not play on this computer... It looks good I guess - I think the effects look good and I love that they used the Paramount Parks Stars. But it kind of makes me in a bad mood looking at those pictures. Bah humbug! -
Yeah no kidding. It is Winterfest not Christmas fest. Would you be happier if they called it Channukahfest. I am sure I spelled that wrong - so what get the ACLU on my case... You go to PKI - meet Santa, skate - there is nothing religious about that. Sure Christmas can trace SOME of its roots to Christianity - but what PKI is doing is totally secular. It is like Easter - people don't realize that it is 100% a pagan holiday...
-
No there is already a coaster named Vortex...
-
Any idea if they are just building the structure, or have they started installing the electrical stuff (like proximity sensors and limit switches and photo eyes and the motor)? And have they installed the lift chain or brakes yet? Or even put the running rails on the track?

S&S Sonic Boom Freefall
TheKlockster replied to KIBeast's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Drop Zone is a big rush - at least for me. But a Turbo Drop has more airtime because its pulling you down faster than gravity can - so on a freefall like Drop Zone - you get zero g during drop and on a Turbo Drop you get negative g. -
I made it on NL. Now I just need some people to donate to the cause.

S&S Sonic Boom Freefall
TheKlockster replied to KIBeast's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Plus being made by S&S I am sure it uses penumatic power - meaning it probably shoots you down faster than gravity can pull you down - like a Turbo Drop on steroids.
