Will probably upgrade the whole family to Platinum for 2011 - trips planned to CP and Canada's Wonderland should make it a good deal.
-
Give me a two lift hill B&M invert with 13 inversions - Montu layout followed by Silver Bullet layout.
-
As I read your post, I was left thinking that I really couldn't see you actually doing that! Although I would join you in hoping that they did accidentally let go.

The prior restriction was no hand held infants, but no minimum height to ride with a responsible person. The rider safety guide (downloadable online) and park map show this. The website clearly states a minimum height now so it does look like it has changed.

I would be willing to take the Slaughterhouse bet ... as one of the Butchers has indicated he will be returning to it this year

I well understand the problems with the location of the Hamilton County Fairgrounds - I drive past them on the way to work (and wouldn't take my family there for an evening at a county fair). But there are many, many other problems as well. The county itself has become much more urban/suburban and less agricultural/rural over the years. There are a plethora of other entertainment options for the local population even if you exclude the major items like KI, Reds, Bengals, Coney, Zoo. There is very little to no advertising that tells you why you'd want to go to the fair.

It is also apparently against the rules to put your hands up for the launch on Pony Express at Knott's Berry Farm - got to watch out for that 0 to 38 miles per hour launch in a mere 3 seconds.

Where's the pictures of the SeaDoo? What model do you have? KIfan1980, who misses days on the lake riding his '97XP

5 new pages today - I thought there had to be some interesting news on the "New for 2011" topic ... In other topics discussed: - I liked Cedar Point Pizza this year - I loved BGT food, although agree that the park does have an awkward layout - I don't care where my pepperoni is located on a pizza - I like ketchup on hotdogs, more proof I'm not from West Virginia - I wonder greatly at how smart it is for a ride manufacturer to release info about a parks ride prior to the announcement, even if they are upset. I'd imagine that this might impact their relationship/credibility with that chain and others in the industry Oh, see there was something on topic posted

That type of work likely wouldn't be figured in their CapEx plans, which is what I was discussing. And also, I believe removal of an existing structure that improves land in preparation for a planned new structure might also be considered a capital improvement (adding value to the land) Why would you expect word on Kings Island? When was KI's Planet Snoopy announced relative to the rest last winter?

Timberliners Delayed
KIfan1980 replied to DaveStroem's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
And I'm sure that GG is working very hard to resolve any issues and get the trains licensed - as I believe they are using them on some of their new coasters for 2011. Always nice to have the kinks worked out on serial no 1 first. -
SIX 2010 Q2 RESULTS
KIfan1980 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
What I think is really critical in Terpy's notes is the number of references to understanding who they are trying to attract to their parks and understanding what that customer wants (even if it different at a local park level). IF, and it's a big if, they can do this, they will be successful. And for the record, I'm willing to bet there are many more distinctions than families and thrill seekers. -
Someone should tell him there is "an app for that"

The cost to move the ride/theming I can't speak to, but assuming the building is literally a shell (not connected to the ride structure), it is likely relatively easy/inexpensive (a few hundred thousand dollars) to move it. Far more would be spent on prepping the new site (foundation work) and evaluating/potentially modifying the structure for different parts of the country (earthquake codes, snow loads).

Thanks for sharing - I think you take some amazing photos and capture some cool things.
-
Not going to stone you, but next time - feel free to hop out of line (with your family), get the water and get back in line. Either that or have your family grab a water on the way to the ride. Seriously - that's what you are supposed to do.
-
There is just something ironic about telling someone who just got away with line jumping that it is not tolerated.
-
Kirk - I was going to try and look up the show schedule for today as I might swing by later. Can you just post it and save me some trouble please?
-
I'm not thinking GG is hinting at all about CP. I am thinking that their customers have all announced plans already and they are therefore now able to be more specific. Prior to this, they have always posted generic things like "multiple exciting new projects" from my recollection. Of course I could be wrong also.

Gravity Group Facebook quote today: "The Gravity Group Yes. When CCI closed, the engineering team got together and we formed The Gravity Group. Eight years and five coasters later, here we are. And we are looking forward to 5 exciting tracks for 2011!" I think this tells us that GG is not involved at CP, based upon what work they have announced: Quassy Grona Lund Happy Valley Zippin Pippin Recreation If you include 2 tracks for racing at Happy Valley, that makes 5.

I'll either ignore them or follow markr's advice and tell a ride op when I get to the station. Normally nothing happens, but sometimes it does. Also, although I've complained about KI line jumping in the past. I found my experiences at other parks this year interesting. At Cedar Point - there seemed to be a genuine fear of getting kicked out of the park if you line jump. Significantly reduces it. At Knott's Berry Farm (and even Legoland) - it seemed like standard practice and made Kings Island look well controlled. Must be those Californians

Isn't there a disclaimer about the front seat and only the front seat required for Maverick? We all like what we like - and who knows, next time you go back your opinion may change. My top 5's: Diamondback, Montu, Silver Bullet, Millenium Force, Wildfire/Maverick (yes I'm cheating) Voyage, Thunderhead, Beast (sentimental reasons included), Raven, Racer
-
Sorry, should have just said - I agree with you Sparky but would prefer to see a copy of Thunderhead versus Gwazi as I much prefer the ride experience and think it fits your goal of being more rideable to the GP better.
-
Just to clarify - I have ridden Gwazi and described the front seat morning ride as fun and enjoyable, while the back seat lunchtime ride was painful. Worst coaster on earth, no. One I'm looking forward to riding again, also no. Thunderhead on the other hand, I'd ride all day anywhere if there wasn't so much other cool stuff to see/do at Dollywood.
