  1. Fixed your post for you. Although it'd be interesting to ride what a well maintained Gwazi was supposed to be. Note I am going on my reading of Terpy and Delerium Guy to assess maintenance capability of BGT/Gwazi. To me this comes down to what the park wants to add. I think Cedar Point could really use a fun, re-rideable woodie versus a somewhat rough and crazy intense woodie. Even though I rank Voyage higher than Thunderhead, personally - if I'm CP, I add a Thunderhead type ride versus Voyage type ride.
  2. I like standups - my favorite was King Cobra. I still enjoy Mantis. It is just a totally different feeling that you get in your legs as you complete the circuit. KC "seats" were definitely more comfortable than Mantis "seats", but I also think the change in style of shorts (think 11-13" short length with a longer rise, versus what your dad or grandpa used to wear in the 80's) also adds to the discomfort. I'm thinking that a floorless standup would be be a bad idea , but agree with the short and to the point thought.
  3. Firehawk is my favorite ride that I hardly ever ride. I'll head over sometimes for a quick ride after ERT and do really enjoy it, but refuse to wait in the line at any other time.
  4. ...No. Those slides have awful capacity, very little draw, and aren't very high value. Can you imagine how many more season passes they'd sell if for 2011 they added a..... burlap sack slide? IMO, they have their place in smaller amusement parks, but KI does not need one. I do not believe every ride or change has to be geared toward increased season pass sales. I'd argue that a group of smaller rides - maybe even some family type rides or others with awful capacity - could be used to bring more of a family atmosphere to Kings Island. I'd vote for returning Tique's, Scooters, and Bayern Kurve for "nostalgia" purposes, but wouldn't mind seeing a slide, a Ferris Wheel, a Matterhorn or Wipeout, and/or other family friendly rides as well. Yet Cedar Point and Knott's Berry Farm both have inflatables
  5. Congrats on reaching 1000! I decided not to continue counting this year but am somewhere in the 250 range. I haven't made it to as many ERT sessions this season.
  6. Well I'd have preferred a KICoasterGirl PTR but I'll guess yours will have to do Dave Looks like you guys had a good time - I bet it was nice to have the short drive too and from the fair. I've actually never been to a state or county fair, and although the rides looked like fun, I think I'd have been a tad nervous on a few.
  7. While you are talking about changes to the floral clock/calendar - I noticed that the floral clock only has 12, 3, 6, 9 hours on it when I looked this season. Has it been like that for years or was that changed for this year?
  8. Yes, someone who agrees with me! This family friendly coaster size is one that I think CP is lacking in - I much prefer the AE, Flight Deck, Racer, BLSC, Beast lineup to the CP options.
  9. This happened today as a group approached the Diamondback separator Separator: "How Many" Girl: "3" Separator: "2 in row 1, 1 in row 2" Girl: "Can we go somewhere else - I don't want to ride in the front" Separator: "what, huh, ok, well, 2 in row 3, 1 in row 4" then looks at me "single rider row 4" Who turns down row 1 and 2 on Diamondback?
  10. On Saturdays, if I go to ERT, I'll leave when it ends. I did leave prior to the end of ERT once and had to wait for an admissions rep to get the hand stamp/ink.
  11. I've made that same joke in these forums before. And, when you leave the station, you often hear "enjoy your 4 minute, 50 second ride on The Beast, the worlds longest wooden roller coaster" or something similar. I can understand the confusion.
  12. Wow - it's been years (make that decades) since I went to Tecumseh! I'll have to check into when would be a good age to take the kids sometime. Thanks for posting.
  13. Note that I haven't been there, but wonder what the driver behind re-theming to Planet Snoopy versus just updating their Camp Snoopy. I've been in a couple of Camp Snoopy's this year (Cedar Point and Knott's Berry Farm) and actually think the Camp Snoopy theme works fine. Now what happened to the pictures of Snoopy in the canoe cresting the waterfall in both of those Camp Snoopy Areas - I know I took one.
  14. I wrote what I did trying to "calm some waters" (which you seem to want to continue to stir) not to rush to Beatles defense. I also defended your right to defend Gary and fof1996's question. If you read my last paragraph you'd see that I agreed that different words could have been used. You'd also see that I mentioned folks might be a little more sensitive to the comments based on other factors (that apparently could include a forum post from the same user a few days back). I'll just go back to the point of my post on page 1 now - Congrats to Gary, wish I could have been there to enjoy another ride with him.
  15. According to this TR from last year, Flight Deck was open after 7pm. Not mine, and the only one I found with my limited search skills so can't confirm.
  16. Some people need something to complain about ... for me it's complaining about people complaining about people who complain, or something like that
  17. I recall Flight Deck being closed in 2008, but thought it remained open during Haunt hours in 2009 - not positive, but seem to remember that.
  18. In an attempt to try and calm some waters here: - It is understandable for those that know Gary to defend him from attack. And there are those (especially on Facebook) who have attacked him with "get a life" type comments. These comments are unnecessary and hurtful. - As I read BavarianBeatle's comments, I did not see them as an attack. I think he was merely pointing out that Gary does bring some attention on himself with his shirt. - As I read FlightofFear1996's question, I saw a question for understanding. Could different words and phrasing have been used - maybe. Could those defending be reacting more vigorously because of what else they've read on FB or what they remember from when Darlene reached 500 rides (as I recall it was much, much worse than what I've seen this time so far) - maybe.
  19. Out of the two options - Kings Island. I think it is a much better park for the quick trip to catch a few rides and has a variety of coasters that I love. Although I will continue to enjoy a road trip to CP still. Also, if CP was my hometown park, that means I'd be living in Sandusky - uh, I'll take Mason thanks. Expand the options and my recent trip to Knott's Berry Farm comes to mind.
  20. I don't believe his goal was to ride it 3000 times. I believe his goal is to have fun - he rides Diamondback to have fun. I doubt he's stopping because last time I checked, he was still having fun.
  21. And how many KICers are in the photo with him? At least a few I think. I'd link the FB pic but am mobile right now and don't know how.
  22. Good points KIBOB - theme means different things to different people. Disney does deliver great theming - not sure I'll buy the great thrills portion
  23. Congrats to Gary! He along with many of the folks I've met riding Diamondback are interesting to talk to and fun to ride with.
  24. Some recent posts and topics about KIC got me thinking. As is often the case, the discussions were about what is wrong. My thoughts took me a different direction and reminded me that there is a lot of good and positive things in this community. A few examples: - Coasting for kids: I know/saw several KIC'ers donating to others - Posts about difficulty in ones life: It is easy to see/feel the support in the responses - Topics requesting help: There is always a good answer to be had - Friendships: Whether they've become live or stayed online, there are many new friends to be had through KIC All in all, even though I miss some former contributors who have left due to some of the arguments, I have to admit that I'm glad to be here and think they are the ones missing out.
