Does that mean Banshee will have a height limit? Diamondbacker, whose height has already deemed him too big to ride four Kings Island rides. You're asking the wrong person that question lol for two reasons: 1. I'm short (5'3") so the only rides I am banned from for being too tall are kiddie rides 2. I don't know anything about min/max height restriction determining factors So, to answer your question, I really don't know

So thanks to the awesome dive loop exit photo Jonathan posted, it's a safe assumption the clearance is around or over 6.5 feet. Not only that, notice how the track is angled slightly which will lead to the train swinging out some.... That solves the clearance mystery!

I noticed tonight that all the platforms and theming are gone. I really am wondering if FD is being re-themed. I would love to see that. It desperately needs a paint job and some kind of makeover! A suspended flying coaster named The Bat seems pretty cool and I think it would fit in well with Banshee
-
I don't know if this has been covered or not, but to further add to the speculation that FD is being re-themed to The Bat, all the jet theming has been stripped from the ride now.... Anyone know anything about that? I have photos for proof but can't upload them right now bc I am at KI and get almost no reception/data because of the crowd.

hmm... nope doesn't look that way. Oh well given how much they got done yesterday, and how cold it has been getting at night, they probably figured it was best not to start anything new and noteworthy today, but rather just double-check what's been done so far, like David said. I'd have to check previous Friday updates but IIRC, Fridays have never been huge progress days. I don't think there's a whole lot more track they can add for the dive loop until they get the outside loop supports up, and I believe I heard someone say that because of the angle those supports will be at, track has to be added and secured to the posts very quick in order for them to be very stable. I know nothing about construction though, let alone roller coaster construction, so I don't know how accurate that is Makes sense to me, but like I said, I don't know anything about roller coaster construction.

yeah that's what I thought, too. It looked like there was another piece of track there. I'd have to look at the screenshot I took yesterday to see...

My fiance and I went over to kiddie land on Sunday to see the petting zoo and regretted it almost immediately!! The usual "gotta practically run with my jumbo stroller and pay no attention and nearly mow people down with my jumbo stroller" kind of parents, parents who have taught their children ZERO manners and let them just run loose and shove in front of people, and then there was a girl scout group of 7 girls and 2 supervisors. One supervisor wasn't paying any attention to the kids at all, and the other only paid attention long enough to make sure all 7 girls were there before moving on to the next animal. I heard her say "now there's a lot of people here so we have to make sure we all stick together" only to immediately stop paying attention to the girls and let them run loose and knock me out of the way and shove in front of us and step on my feet... I told my fiance "If you're having to constantly do a head count of all the kids to make sure they're all there after telling them they all have to stick together with you, clearly you're not doing a good job of chaperoning/supervising them!" We had to climb over the hay bales more than once just to be able to move on to see another animal because so many parents just let their kids run loose while they stood around playing with their phones and talking to each other and we kept getting cornered by wild kids! As soon as we'd get a clearing to move, we'd start to move and another group of wild kids would come in and block us!! I know it's the kiddie area, and meant for the kids, but that still doesn't mean you should let your kid run loose unsupervised in a crowded area and not teach them basic manners like wait your turn and don't shove in front of people or step on their feet!!! We weren't over there more than about 10 minutes before we got too frustrated with the uncontrolled kids and clueless parents and just left... I'm just glad I didn't have my camera with me, because I'm convinced it would have bonked some kid in the head and I would have gotten in a big argument with some clueless parent about my camera knocking some kid upside the head

Is there anything in the TOS that addresses excessive punctuation? I don't know about excessive punctuation, but I do know there's something in there about excessive emoticons. I'm a very energetic "bubbly" person and have a tendency to over-use emoticons without really realizing it.... and one time I got a warning for using too many emoticons. I wasn't even trying to, it was just late and I was tired and slap happy needless to say I pay LOTS of attention to my use of emoticons in my posts now!

I would love to see a pic of the completed dive loop!

as usual, I can't tell what they've been working on today lol yesterday was the only day I was able to tell what they were working on and that's just because it was so obvious.... but looking at the webcam now I don't see anything different than when they stopped last night. Anyone mind filling me in on what's going on? I'm SO not observant enough to be able to tell
-
I see the lights, they look like they are over by slingshot... I don't think they are still working this late at night.
-
Thanks as always for the update, David. They sure did get a lot done today!!
-
I'm guessing work has stopped for the day now that it's raining Excited to see what progress tomorrow brings!!! How I wish I was able to go up there tomorrow night!! edit: post above me proves me wrong

I can't tell on the webcam... what are they working on now?
-
It does seem really low and I've thought that for awhile but I think it's just a matter of perspective. I think the clearance will be similar to what it is on Invertigo with the floor dropped I'm short though, so I never have to worry about these kind of things

I hope that doesn't mean that it is equally boring.... I felt like the side of Gatekeeper has you next to the Beach on the lift hill was a far better ride than the other side because I felt like I had to keep raising my legs to avoid having them chopped off where as the opposite side was more relaxing. (I may have the sides backwards. Its the side that when you're loading in the station your closest to the entrance and furthest from the beach). Left side of the train is what you are referring to that's the side furthest from the beach when you're in the station, but beach side going up the lift hill. I rode both sides and had restraint problems on both sides. To me it's a great ride with terrible restraints!! Doesn't seem like it was built to comfortably accommodate smaller riders like me. High metabolism and high energy level has lead to me being 29 years old and 104 pounds.
-
Now that's funny. Did he steal it from your video, or is that from Don's footage? That issue has been fixed on Gatekeeper, and it was confirmed that it won't be an issue on Banshee. I don't know what issue you're talking about but I'm talking about as of Halloweekends opening (September 28th and 29th) the restraint kept tightening on me during the duration of the ride leading to EXTREME pain. I am 5'3 and 104 pounds and the restraint continually kept tightening on my hips during the duration of the ride, resulting in bruises on the front of both of my hip bones and at my height, the vest did rub on my bony collar bone as well, leading to discomfort but was lessened some by tucking the hood on my sweatshirt around my collar bone.... Has that issue been fixed? I'll be surprised if it has considering most people don't have this problem because most people aren't built like me. I am built like a gymnast... Short and very skinny and bony
-
awesome!!! Thank you so much Ryan and Don for making this happen!!!
-
I didn't find Gatekeeper boring at all. Perhaps because it's kind of hard to find a ride boring when the restraints have painfully pinned you in and you're just wishing for the ride to end.... I REALLY hope Banshee restraints don't hurt like Gatekeeper. If they do, then my rides on Banshee will be very limited!

last piece of track is in place and being secured very exciting!

final piece is in air now!
